For picnics, there are local markets on most days in different local villages/towns as well as good local shops (Alimentation) and large Supermarkets (Fumel, Agen, Moissac, Villeneuve-sur-Lot, St Sylvestre, Cahors, Montaigu de Quercy, Lauzerte, Montcuq, Prayssac/Puy l’Eveque etc). Wine The local wines and vineyards of Cahors (a fine and complex dark red wine much appreciated by the French since medieval times) as well as Duras, Bergerac, Buzet offer a wide selection of Red, White and Rose wines. Prices locally are very reasonable even in shops, supermarkets and markets. You can visit most of the Chateaux, which make tourists very welcome - and you can taste before you buy.!
Leisure and Sport :
You will find nearly any sport or leisure activity you want locally. Many details will be found in your property. There are well sign posted walks; excellent cycling on quiet empty roads/tracks; riding at the many equestrian centres; fishing (daily and weekly licences readily available), tennis in most larger villages, canoeing and swimming. There are Fetes (nearly all villages hold fetes each year) and music concerts throughout the region. Tennis courts can be hired in most larger villages. Markets including Roquecor & Montcuq each Sunday, Montsempron/Fumel on Thursdays, Prayssac on Fridays, Montaigu on Saturday mornings in addition to Tournon d’Agenais on Friday evenings in the summer. Larger markets take place in Agen, Cahors and Villeneuve-sur-Lot (see tourist information in the property). Theme Park Walibi is north west of Agen on the A62. It is in some 30 hectares (75 acres) beside an 18th Century castle. Numerous rides, spectacular shows and special events.
