Overview

Bagni di Lucca Villa Rental Photos and Description

Sleeps 8/9. A beautifully restored village house with four bedrooms and wonderful, open living space where even large groups can find a corner to relax in. Finished to a high specification and built of local stone the house has a contemporary feel to it whist retaining much of its Tuscan character. It is a wonderful base from which to explore Florence, Piza, Lucca and even Sienna, as well as the stunning coastline of the Chinque Terre or enjoy the traditional charms of village life.

This stunning, luxury 18th century house has recently been restored to create the perfect holiday rental home complete with wonderful Tuscan views. Overlooking the pretty medieval village, in the hills above the charming spa town of Bagni di Lucca, the house has a spacious, light, contemporary feel to it, whilst retaining a sense of charm and tradition. With its chestnut beams and cotto tiled floors, as well as a contemporary gallery overlooking the vaulted dining room, this really is the perfect place from which to explore the historic cities of Pisa, Lucca, Pistoia and Florence as well as the heritage coastline of the Cinque Terre.

Outside you will find, built in an elevated position above the house, the 7x4 m salt water infinity pool, with two large dining and sunbathing terraces, all with breathtaking views of the valley and mountains. There is also a peaceful shaded area under the pergola, lovely to sit under having an early evening glass of chilled Prosecco. The outside dining area comes complete with BBQ, ideal for al fresco dining.

The medieval village itself remains truly unspoilt and is filled with Tuscan charm from its many festivals to its pretty village walks and local bar where you can sit outside and enjoy a glass of Chianti with the locals or other holiday makers whilst watching the world go by. Alternatively, only a short drive away, you will find the thermal spa town of Bagni di Lucca filled with restaurants, bars and supermarkets as well as the famous thermal baths. If you enjoy outdoor pursuits try quad biking, hill walking, horse-riding, paint balling, rafting, canoeing or gorge walking in and around the area.

Blissful escape

  • 5 of 5

We were completely wowed when we arrived - the late autumn sunshine just adding to the breathtaking beauty of this property's location. Directions were easy to follow (we flew into Pisa with Easyjet) and the village itself is very picturesque. The photos on the website do not do the house justice. The decor is charming and the views from seemingly every window just incredible. Everywhere was superbly clean with fresh crisp bedlinen in the bedrooms and lovely touches everywhere. Internally the house is a seamless combination of traditional (chestnut beams and cotto tiles) and contemporary (the galleried dining area with glass fronted walkway above). The kitchen is well equipped and we used the outdoor eating area in the little courtyard for most meals. The climb up to the pool (which stands above the house) is worth it with even more incredible panoramic views. We spent a day in Lucca wandering around and it is easy to catch the train from here to Florence. The house is far enough away from everything to be blissfully quiet but near enough to local towns to enjoy evening meals out. A car is essential but simple to hire at Pisa airport. We would definitely return ourselves and recommend to friends - either for a short escape or a longer stay in the summer months perhaps.

escape to tuscany

  • 5 of 5

Flew to Pisa and followed simple directions to Limarno, through beautiful countryside to find an idyllic unspoilt mountainside village with friendly local residents. The property was a beautifully renovated stone house with all mod cons, infinity pool, views to die for and everything you could wish for. It is a great place to stay for rest and relaxation and also very accessible for sightseeing, Florence 1 hour by train from Lucca which is about 45 minutes drive and in itself is a beautifiul place to spend a day shopping and dining.Highly recommended.

Italian Summer

  • 4 of 5

We decided to take some time off over summer and explore the Tuscan countryside, overall we had three and a half weeks to try and see as much as we could. On our second week we stayed at Casa Cortile in Limano (close to Bagni di Lucca) with our 5 year old and we were not disappointed! The house is beautiful, set in a medieval village high on the hillside, the views from the rooftop infinity pool are amazing. Inside the house is beautifully furnished to a high standard with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Fantastic beams and exposed stone walls with loads of character. It is just a short drive down in to the nearest town of Bagni di Lucca where you can get all your food supplies etc and where you can find some nice places to eat. We took a day trip to the walled city of Lucca which is a must see,and also to Viarregio and Torre del Lago. It is quite a central location to explore more of what Tuscany has to offer. We would definately recommend this to anyone who wants a bit of tranquility but can also find something more within just a short drive.

Amazing Views, Friendly Welcome

  • 5 of 5

After a last minute holiday booking, we found the Casa Cortile on a special offer search and loved the look of the views from the pool.

The route up to Limano is very steep and winding, so if you are not an assured driver, be aware. Parking is on the road, a short, but steep walk from the villa, so be aware it is not suitable for wheelchairs.

When you enter the grounds of the villa, you realise just how big the total area is. There is an outside courtyard with a walkway leading up to the infinity pool. The villa itself consists of a hallway, large kitchen, open plan Lounge/Diner with a secondary alcove and then four bedrooms and two bathrooms.

There were only two of us, so obviously the villa was rather large for our needs, but for the discounted price it was amazing value for money.

The whole building has been lovingly restored and furnished attractively, giving a very comfortable feel. The location was extremely quiet for our week, the only real noise in the day being a gardener strimming a garden on a completely different mountain.

When it comes to describing the views, not only can words not describe them, but the photos on this profile also do not do them justice. There are amazing views from the front of the house from the Kitchen, Lounge, a number of the Bedrooms and one of the Bathrooms. This view is across around 4 different peaks and are stunning. When you go up to the infinity pool you have 2 seperate views, one in the same direction, and another to the rear of the house up to a much higher mountain.

Limano itself has no real facilities, so any shopping must be done from Bagni Di Lucca around 20 mins away. This does mean however that the whole town is pretty much silent the whole time, so the villa is extremely relaxing.

The pool is large and there are a number of different areas to relax around it, some under cover. Most also have great views.

When we arrived at the villa we were given a welcome basket from Kate which was very welcome, but we have been to other villas in the past where all the basics from the previous tenants are left to use, so you don't have to always buy all your spices etc. Due to the distance to the nearest supermarket, this might have been helpful.

Kate was very helpful for the whole of the holiday, giving us advice on places to visit and eat.

Our only real issues with the villa were a lack of Internet connection and getting the security deposit back as a cheque rather than cash on leaving.

Highly recommended
