Best location in Kuhio Shores. Oceanfront - Thirty (30) feet from the ocean - rare and unique corner unit. Ceiling to floor windows across the entire front of the condominium face South at the OCEAN and then wrap-around and face West toward the SUNSET and the Ocean and Coast Line under a huge Palm tree.
Re-modeled. Upgraded bi-annually. King size beds in each bedroom, new bathroom vanity, pedestal sink. New living room furniture, new TV, new blue ray DVD.
The floors of the condominium are covered with imported one inch thick Spanish tiles except for the bedrooms which are wood. In the living room, view the ocean and sunset through ceiling to floor windows. The walls are mirrored where there are no windows so when you stand in the middle of the living room you are surrounded by views of the ocean. Each bedroom has a new king-size bed and a ceiling fan. The living room, dining area, and kitchen have beautiful wood ceilings and ceiling fans.
The kitchen (remodeled in November 2014) is fully stocked, including, a crock pot, rice maker, veggie steamer, food processor,
microwave, blender, coffee maker, glass pots, metal pots and extra cups, glasses and dishes. A CHEFS DELIGHT.

We purchased the condo in 1977 and it has been enjoyed and loved by four generations.
Over 30 years of family vacation fun has been a true delight for our family. The youngest member of the clan is my eighteen year old daughter who growing up in the mountains of Wyoming, an avid skier, learned to surf on Kauai. The condo has truly been paradise for our very large clan, we love it.
Kristin Ellingson purchased this condo in 1977
It is the best location of any condo complex in the Hawaiin Islands, we are surrounded by the beautiful Pacific Ocean on three sides and are the closest condos to the Ocean in Hawaii.
A DEEP DISCOUNTED CAR IS AVAILABLE THRU A MAJOR RENTAL CAR COMPANY.
The condo jets out the farthest to the ocean from the building getting you even closer to spectacular views to the east, south and west. Perfect for whale watching, spotting giant sea turtles, enjoying the surfers, and viewing amazing sunsets. The condo has wrap around glass, floor to ceiling windows in the dining area. New furniture as of October 2013 and a recently remodeled kitchen (November 2014) and bathroom.
Because of the wrap around windows, a great airflow thru the condo.
A great kitchen.
Tinted windows keep the heat out before it gets inside the condo
and allows no impediment of the spectacular views.
If I was rating this unit on the view it would be 5 star, however several other things were disappointing. Most important were the beds in both bedrooms that were not "new" and not comfortable mattresses. Neither couple slept well any night. This is a problem on a holiday. The linens were really lacking in kitchen and bathroom and all of poor quality. The beach towels were not acceptable. There were only 3 dishwasher pucks for a week stay. Who wants to go buy a box of dishwasher detergent on holidays and leave most of it behind? The dishes were really nice and many kitchen utensils, pots and pans, except a pizza pan. All the fans were caked in dust, including the ceiling fans. The plumbing in the bathtub is looking overused and worn. The TV was not working about half way through the week and was not replaced or fixed even though it was reported. There is no pool so be aware if you have children. The oceanfront nearby was rough as our weather wasn't the greatest so children were not going in the ocean there. It wasn't great for snorkelling either. We did not see one turtle and whales were far,far out in the distance where you just saw a small spray. This could be a better unit with some changes and upgrades in the areas mentioned. The VRBO owner was very good at communicating quickly when making the booking, but we did not receive our deposit back until I emailed and asked for it and got it over a week later. The location of the building is in a nice place on the island.
Stay at Kuhio Shores at the end of February. First morning coffee on the Lanai resulted in surfers, a pod of dolphins and whales. Usually you get sunrise or sunset! Kristin's condo offers both. I thought the lack of A/C might be a concern at night, but with the ocean breeze and ceiling fans, it was never a problem. Location is great as it's probably one of the quietest areas on the island (dead end road). The condo is clean, comfy and has pretty well everything you need. The condo made my favorite island, that much more enjoyable. I still have a hard time wiping the smile off of my face, when I think about sitting on the Lanai! Enjoy
This unit at Kuhio Shores exceeded my family's expectations in terms of the view - the ocean is literally within spitting distance, it's spectacular. We got to watch sea turtles gather right outside the patio every morning, saw whales spouting in the distance and could even see the Poipu fireworks on New Years Eve. Given we have a 5 year old, the lack of a pool and a sandy beach were lowlights, but overall the area is fantastic, the unit is in great shape, very clean and comfy, we had a great experience and would highly recommend staying here!
This location could not be any better, close to some of the best beaches on the south side. Great snorkeling in front of the condo, turtles every day. Condo was equipped with everything we needed, the 2 beds/2 baths was perfect for our family.
My husband & I along with another couple enjoyed ourselves for almost a week at this ocean-front condo. As everyone has stated the views are phenominal (the mirrors greatly add to the viewing experience - I liked it!). The pictures are completely accurate in representing the space and views. It was definitely comfortable for the four of us.
We snorkeled at nearby Lawai Beach seeing many fish, large turtles and even a monk seal who took a rest there for half a dayl! Plus it was a good base for our sightseeing to Waimea Canyon and boat ride to the Napali coast. We predominantly hung out there either at the beach or using the lania for watching the ocean and nonstop surfers. We didn't really cook although the kitchen was outfitted if we had wanted to do so.
We would definitely recommend this condo to others with the caveat that there was no A/C. This is probably fine for the majority of people but I just have a personal preference for a very cool environment and would have prefered A/C. The afternoons got warm as we watched the daily sunsets. (They really were beautiful!) The ceiling fans were a big help in moving the air and it was cool enough for sleeping. So all in all, not a big issue at all.
My wife and I spent a week in this condo mid May celebrating an anniversary. Both agree that it could not have gone any better. We are in our late 20s and were primarily looking for the following on this trip: romantic getaway, beaches, swimming/snorkeling, hiking, relaxation, and food. This condo made achieving all of this easy.
Right when you walk in you are overtaken by a full scale view right on top of the Pacific Ocean. Its the main thing you see straight forward from inside the condo itself. It is very nice as it has a corner unit view that I am not sure accompanies every condo here; meaning, you have the ocean view straight ahead, and the corner to the right continues this for several more feet offering a more westerly view on this south side of the island. We felt this 2nd floor location was a nice elevation over the ocean while on the balcony. If the "regular" views of the ocean were not enough to keep you entertained, turtles regularly popped up and the area several hundred feet SW of the condo is a popular surfing spot. This was very entertaining.
Clean and spacious. Just the 2 of us for this 2BR and you could see this easily accommodating at least 4 ppl. The condo is designed solely around making the most of the view. The two bedrooms are big enough, as are both bathrooms. The kitchen was adequate for our needs as well. The furniture was nice with both the sofa and master bed being very comfortable. There is no AC unit but air moves through this condo fast when you open windows on both sides. Also, being so close to the ocean, you hear the waves crash while sleeping, which we though was great. Bedrooms can be a bit "dark", but to me that is desirable.
Like anywhere on Kauai, you probably need a car. Poipu had a ton of options for food/drinks (especially for just a week) and this condo is just a few minutes drive from anything down in Poipu. The north western point (furthest drive?) was probably 90 min away? But the drive is pretty and there are great stops/beaches along the way. Poipu was literally ALWAYS sunny while the rest of the island was not. Poipu was very reliable for providing a sunny beach once we ventured back south in the afternoons.
Amazing condo in a great location. Clean, spacious, with amazing views. Would look here first if/when we return to Kauai.
The reef in front of the condo complex is inhabited by a colony of giant sea turtles that are quite playful and fun to snorkel with. 3 of the best surf breaks in Hawaii, PK's, Centers and Acid Drop are right in front of tne condo.
