LE COTTAGE DU JARDINIER

Perrusson Cottage Rental Photos and Description

1, 3 & 3 bedroom self-catering cottages with shower-rooms, sleeps 12

Le Moulin de Boutineau and its three charming fully restored cottages (for gites or chambres d'hotes) lies in the tranquil countryside heart of the Loire Valley - but is not remote, just 2 kms from the famous medieval town of Loches, with its own chateau, restaurants, café’s, bars, shops and lively twice-weekly market.

Spend idyllic family days relaxing around a sparkling 12x6 metre heated swimming-pool with nearby children's play area or explore the 15 acres of magnificent tree-lined grounds, fields and woods surrounding this peaceful 17thC watermill. If you want to fish there are carp (15-40lbs) in a glorious private two acre lake. The three delightful oak-beamed cottages sleeping 6, 4+1 and a romantic 2 can also accommodate an exclusive party of 12 and all have their own garden/patio and BBQ area, as well as cooker, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, TV/DVD/stereo CD, full central heating and access to washing/drying facilities, the swimming pool, hot-tub, bicycles, petanque court and table-tennis.

Fishing at Le Moulin de Boutineau: There is a glorious, private two acre lake where you can fish for carp (mirror & common 15-40lbs) plus roach, tench and others. It has level, easy walking access around the entire perimeter which is lined with a wide variety of mature trees, flowers and the abundant wildlife includes kingfishers and red squirrels. It is an idyllic, tranquil setting for fishing. There are six marked swims (max. 4 anglers) and we also have a range of all the correct carp fishing equipment for hire as well as a selection of quality baits available. Our beautiful, pristine fish will give you quite a fight, but are just for catching, photographing and releasing again - NOT for eating!!

Cost of Fishing: During the peak 2014 holiday season from 12 July to 30 August the cost is 160 euros per angler per week or 50 euros per day. During the rest of the rental season (1 March to 12 July & 30 Aug to 8 Nov) the special price of a weeks fishing rights is only 80 euros per angler per week, making it a great combination of value, comfort, accessibility and privacy. Please contact us for details on our special loire fishing holidays website which has much more information and many photographs of the fish and lake.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"We had an incredible 5-star week in the Jardinier cottage. Looking back, was it the fish, engagement, birthday, Jude's food or the wine that was the highlight? Every experience was facilitated by you in one way or another. I thank you personally for assisting us by going the extra mile whenever we asked, you produce a stunning cake for my birthday and Julian produced the most gorgeous wine including its provenance which was equally indulging. The entire holiday was filled with incredible moments, which we will try to re-create on our next visit to the Moulin where I will be looking to extend my PB of 40lb!"

'Thank you so much for everything you did to make us feel so welcome. We had a wonderful week with our two children, and really had no idea how much there would be for them on our doorstep. You have done amazing things at Le Moulin and we will be spreading the word!' (Madlin & Rupert S, London).

'Thank you for a fantastic week. You couldn't have made us more welcome. The cottage was great with everything we needed and nothing was too much trouble. It's an idyllic setting and the kids loved everything from the pool to the space to roam around in. I shan't hesitate to recommend you!' (Lorraine & Dave I, Leicester).

“We spent a week in the Four a Pain before we got married. We booked it fairly last minute as it looked romantic and the perfect place for some relaxation before the Big Day…and boy did we strike it lucky. What a fantastic time, idyllic setting and perfect hosts! I can’t recommend it enough! We will certainly be back for an anniversary' (Georgia H, Liverpool).

A perfect week for us

  • 5 of 5
We've just come back from an amazing week in the Cottage Jardiniere. Everything was better than we'd even hoped for. The cottage was lovely, with enough mod cons for an easy week and nice comfy bed. The lake - which was the primary reason for our holiday there - was idyllic, and provided Larry with two huge carp (biggest weighed in at 40lb). And of course the pool was a superb feature, particularly with the warm sunny weather we enjoyed. We did use the hot tub once, which was lovely but too warm for the weather the rest of the week.

The big surprise for us was the food and wine available. Jude is an amazing cook, and we quickly decided to let her do our evening catering at a very reasonable cost. And Julian had beautiful wines to accompany each meal, all locally produced with a story about the provenance each time.

It was always going to be a special holiday with a 'significant' birthday to celebrate - and then a surprise proposal and engagement - but the hospitality of our hosts and perfect surroundings made it extra special for us.

Thank you Julian and Jude, we're already planning a return visit.

A PERFECT LOCATION FOR RELAXING OR EXPLORING.

  • 5 of 5
On arrival we could see we had made the right choice for our holiday. As we arrived we had a very warm welcome from the owners Julian and Jude, and throughout our stay they were very friendly and helpful.
There is literally something for everyone whether it be relaxing in the hot tub, bathing in the pool or as I did spending a few hours a day beside the picturesque lake which is home to some stunning fish.
It is also a perfect location for exploring the beautiful French countryside with stunning chateau's close by which are definitely worth a visit.
Since being back we cant stop talking about our holiday and we would highly recommend this to any of our family and friends and we cannot wait for a returned visit here.

fantastic

  • 5 of 5
In spring of 2013, my husband and I hosted our family here.
The description of the property was spot on, in fact it was better than we expected. We took 2 of the units and they were both spotless and well equipped
Jude and Julian were generous with their time and knowledge. Both cottages also had info booklets that were accurate and helpful.
We intend ro return and have shown all of our friends and families our great .pictures Thank you for a wonderful experience!!!

a truly wonderful place to stay.

  • 5 of 5
the moment we drove up to the Moulin, we knew we had made the right decision to come here.

it was magical and peaceful and the owners Jude and Julian could not have done enough, they were warm and friendly and made our stay fabulous in every way.

we stayed in the gardeners cottage, there was four of us and it was
as described, a twin bedded room downstairs near the bathroom, and a double bed upstairs, where the staircase takes a few days to get used to, but not for children.

the room off of the double room, had a vaulted ceiling, with a single bed.

all the beds were very comfortable and clean.

our cottage overlooked the courtyard next to jude and julians house., which was fine.

the pool was essential, after our touring around we found to be able to swim when we got back great.

although they had a hot tub, we did not use it, although if we had had time, i am sure we owuld have done.

Jude cooked us two meals while we were there, which were excellent, definitely restaurant standard and so many courses.... you were fully stuffed after eating that lot!

the Moulin was in an ideal position for touring, we visited many places from there. Loches was ony a few kilometers away, we went to the chateau at Villandry, which had spectacular gardens and grounds.

we visited Amboise, and Montresor, very good places to go.

Chenonceau was another fine place, on the river, we did the boat trip, but looking back we should have driven to the chateau and gardens and gone in.

the market at Loches on a Wednesday is great, and we bought a locally produced Paella and cooked chicken.,we had a feast when we got back., which was well worth the money.

Le Moulin has a wonderful lake and surrounding area, ideal for fishermen, but also an amazing sight to see.

the other properties there we visited, the Bread Oven, was a small haven 'love nest' for any couple to share.

the gardeners cottage ,larger than ours with three good size bedrooms we would have preferred, but it was already taken when we enquired, we would have this one next time, but you do have to book early.

a truly magical restful; place to stay and we enjoyed every minute of it.

Jude and Julian, the perfect hosts - including Monseiur jacques, the family cat and of course Saskia their delightful daughter.

Idealic country setting

  • 4 of 5
Thank you for such a lovely holiday. The setting in open countryside is so peaceful yet only minutes from Loches. We wanted a real "chillout" holiday and thats exactly what we got. I was a little apprehensive about having a shared pool, but this situation works very very well and it was never crowded. The patio from this cottage leads directly onto the garden. Accomodation is of good, clean quality although it can get a little warm in the upstairs bedroom and the steps are somewhat steep. The owners were very welcoming, and approachable throughout our stay giving us guidance on the local area and events. We are not anglers, but if we were, then this setting is absolutely perfect with a very large wellstocked lake. Overall excellent value for money and well recommended.

Le Moulin de Boutineau lies in Indre-et-Loire, part of the 'Centre' region of France. This is the royal historical heartland of Touraine renowned for its fine wines, delicious goat's cheese and near-perfect French accent!

The nearest major supermarket and superb patisserie are just 5 minutes drive while equally close, Loches (just 2kms away) with its maze of cobbled streets, dungeon & chateau is a magnificently preserved medieval town with big, colourful country markets every Weds & Sat with amazing selections of cheeses, breads, pastries, sausages and fresh local produce.

Most of the prettiest and most rewarding Loire chateaux are within 30 minutes drive including Chenonceau, Chinon, Valencay, Villandry, Amboise, Usse and Azay-le-Rideau and many hold summer 'son et lumiere' or music shows.

Also within easy reach are golf, tennis, horse-riding and walking or cycling in the beautiful Indre valley or extensive Loches Forest, while the zoo with its pandas at nearby St Aignan is arguably the best in France.
