Le Moulin de Boutineau and its three charming fully restored cottages (for gites or chambres d'hotes) lies in the tranquil countryside heart of the Loire Valley - but is not remote, just 2 kms from the famous medieval town of Loches, with its own chateau, restaurants, café’s, bars, shops and lively twice-weekly market. Spend idyllic family days relaxing around a sparkling 12x6 metre heated swimming-pool with nearby children's play area or explore the 15 acres of magnificent tree-lined grounds, fields and woods surrounding this peaceful 17thC watermill. If you want to fish there are carp (15-40lbs) in a glorious private two acre lake. The three delightful oak-beamed cottages sleeping 6, 4+1 and a romantic 2 can also accommodate an exclusive party of 12 and all have their own garden/patio and BBQ area, as well as cooker, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, TV/DVD/stereo CD, full central heating and access to washing/drying facilities, the swimming pool, hot-tub, bicycles and table-tennis.

Draped in pretty wisteria 'The Gardeners Cottage' contains three bedrooms, made up of one twin, one double and a single plus a fully equipped shower-room and open plan kitchen/living area. The Ground Floor has a wooden stable-door leading onto the courtyard and double doors opposite onto the cottage's own terrace with BBQ table, chairs and parasol. The living/dining area has a table and chairs plus a comfortable sofa for watching DVD’s on the TV or listening to the CD stereo. The integral kitchen has an electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher and fridge. A washing machine is available by arrangement. A twin bedroom and a fitted shower-room, with toilet, basin & electric towel rail complete the ground floor layout. The First Floor is up steep wooden steps on a beamed mezzanine floor where there is a double bed & chest of drawers. Three further steps lead on to a single room with a velux window & oak beams that is ideal for an older child. All rooms have full electric central heating

Le Moulin de Boutineau lies in Indre-et-Loire, part of the 'Centre' region of France. Most of the prettiest and most rewarding Loire chateaux are within 30 minutes drive including Chenonceau, Chinon, Valencay, Villandry, Amboise, Usse and Azay-le-Rideau and many hold summer 'son et lumiere' or music shows.   • A deposit of 25% of the cost of the holiday must be paid when booking. The balance and refundable security deposit (100 euros) MUST be paid 4 weeks prior to your arrival date. Additional Options: Housekeeping/Cleaning at end of stay 40 euros if you choose not to leave cottage as you found it. Welcome Basket with essential groceries, sufficient for the first night and breakfast is available at 20 euros per person. Dinner on arrival, or any other night, is available on request. No deposit is necessary for Chambres d'hotes nightly stays. Chambres d'hotes/B&B prices start from 75 euros per bedroom, per night including breakfast. Please note that due to the large uptake of weekly gites, the availability of Chambres d'hotes/B&B is usually very limited during the Peak Season months of July & August.

Notes: The 12x6 heated swimming pool has three wide, non-slip steps that are ideal for children and easy access. The pool, kept at an inviting 28 degrees, is fully alarmed to current French standards. The sun-loungers and deck-chairs by the pool are also for communal use. Please bring your own towels for the pool and hot-tub/jacuzzi areas. The jacuzzi is situated in the courtyard and is kept at a constant 38 degrees. The swings and slide are situated in a nearby orchard and are for communal use. The bikes are for hire at 10 euros per bike per day. Travel cot or high-chair available on request at no extra charge.

Fishing at Le Moulin de Boutineau: There is a glorious, private two acre lake where you can fish for carp (mirror & common 15-40lbs) plus roach, tench and others. It has level, easy walking access around the entire perimeter which is lined with a wide variety of mature trees, flowers and the abundant wildlife includes kingfishers and red squirrels. It is an idyllic, tranquil setting for fishing. There are six marked swims (max. 4 anglers) and we also have a range of all the correct carp fishing equipment for hire as well as a selection of quality baits available. Our beautiful, pristine fish will give you quite a fight, but are just for catching, photographing and releasing again - NOT for eating!!

Cost of Fishing: During the peak 2010 holiday season from 3 July to 3 September the cost is 150 euros per angler per week or 50 euros per day. During the rest of the rental season (6 March to 3 July & 4 Sept to 27 Nov) the special price of a weeks fishing rights is only 75 euros per angler per week, making it a great combination of value, comfort, accessibility and privacy. Thank you for such a lovely holiday. The setting in open countryside is so peaceful yet only minutes from Loches. We wanted a real "chillout" holiday and thats exactly what we got. I was a little apprehensive about having a shared pool, but this situation works very very well and it was never crowded. The patio from this cottage leads directly onto the garden. Accomodation is of good, clean quality although it can get a little warm in the upstairs bedroom and the steps are somewhat steep. The owners were very welcoming,and approachable throughout our stay giving us guidance on the local area and events. We are not anglers, but if we were, then this setting is absolutely perfect with a very large wellstocked lake. Overall excellent value for money and well recommended.

We stayed here for a week at the end of June 2009. Our hosts Jude & Julian were excellent giving impeccable directions from Tours Airport. The Gite was just as we expected from the web-site. It proved to be an excellent base for touring in The Loire Valley.

While in a peaceful rural setting it is no more than 5 to 10 minutes from Loches, which has everything you might need in a town.

The property was clean and well presented and the level of customer service provided by our hosts was excellent, down to bringing in the washing on the one wet day that came.

I would not hesitate in recommending it to anyone.

It helped to make our French holiday most enjoyable.
