Le Moulin de Boutineau and its three charming fully restored cottages (for gites or chambres d'hotes) lies in the tranquil countryside heart of the Loire Valley - but is not remote, just 2 kms from the famous medieval town of Loches, with its own chateau, restaurants, café’s, bars, shops and lively twice-weekly market. Spend idyllic family days relaxing around a sparkling 12x6 metre heated swimming-pool with nearby children's play area or explore the 15 acres of magnificent tree-lined grounds, fields and woods surrounding this peaceful 17thC watermill. If you want to fish there are carp (15-40lbs) in a glorious private two acre lake. The three delightful oak-beamed cottages sleeping 6, 4+1 and a romantic 2 can also accommodate an exclusive party of 12 and all have their own garden/patio and BBQ area, as well as cooker, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, TV/DVD/stereo CD, full central heating and access to washing/drying facilities, the swimming pool, hot-tub, bicycles and table-tennis.

'The Fishermans Cottage' has a beautiful ancient vine decorating the stone frontage and contains three bedrooms, two doubles, one twin plus a fully equipped bathroom, kitchen and living/dining area. All rooms have full electric central heating. The Ground Floor has double doors leading out onto the pretty main courtyard and the living/dining room contains a table, chairs and comfortable seating area, plus a TV for watching DVDs and a CD stereo. The adjoining open plan kitchen is fully equipped with all you will need for a group of six people. The ground floor is completed by a double bedroom, also with double doors leading onto the courtyard. On the First Floor, the main bedroom has oak beams and a countryside view and contains an attractive double bed, while the other beamed bedroom has a view across the mill-pond and an orchard at the rear. The bathroom is fitted with a bath/shower, toilet and washbasin. There is a private patio area outside with a BBQ, table, chairs and parasol.

  • A deposit of 25% of the cost of the holiday must be paid when booking. The balance and refundable security deposit (100 euros) MUST be paid 4 weeks prior to your arrival date.
    Additional Options: Housekeeping/Cleaning at end of stay 50 euros if you choose not to leave cottage as you found it. Welcome Basket with essential groceries, sufficient for the first night and breakfast is available at 20 euros per person. Dinner on arrival, or any other night, is available on request.
    No deposit is necessary for Chambres d'hotes nightly stays. Chambres d'hotes/B&B prices start from 75 euros per bedroom, per night including breakfast. Please note that due to the large uptake of weekly gites, the availability of Chambres d'hotes/B&B is usually very limited during the Peak Season months of July & August.

There are two single divan beds which can be made up as a double, a bedside table and lamp, plus a wardrobe and shelves. Bedroom 3 is painted terracotta and white with wooden beams and a cream tiled floor and has a modern electric radiator. There is a double bed, bedside tables and lamps, plus a fitted wardrobe with shelves and louvre doors. This ground-floor room also has its own double door exit onto the courtyard if required.

Notes: The children's swings and slides etc are for communal use in the orchard near the heated pool which measures 12x6 metres with three wide non-slip steps leading in which are also ideal for children. The pool is kept at an inviting 28 degrees, is alarmed and meets all current French safety regulations. It is for the communal use of all guests, as are the sun-loungers and deck-chairs provided. The six-person jacuzzi/hot-tub spa is situated in the courtyard and is available for guests use and is kept at a constant 38 degrees. Please note it is necessary to bring your own towels for the pool or jacuzzi areas. The bicycles are available to hire at 10 euros per bike per day. Travel cot and high-chair available by request at no extra charge.

Fishing at Le Moulin de Boutineau: There is a glorious, private two acre lake where you can fish for carp (mirror & common 15-40lbs) plus roach, tench and others. It has level, easy walking access around the entire perimeter which is lined with a wide variety of mature trees, flowers and the abundant wildlife includes kingfishers and red squirrels. It is an idyllic, tranquil setting for fishing. There are six marked swims (max. 4 anglers) and we also have a range of all the correct carp fishing equipment for hire as well as a selection of quality baits available. Our beautiful, pristine fish will give you quite a fight, but are just for catching, photographing and releasing again - NOT for eating!!

Cost of Fishing: During the peak 2010 holiday season from 3 July to 3 September the cost is 150 euros per angler per week or 50 euros per day. During the rest of the rental season (6 March to 3 July & 4 Sept to 27 Nov) the special price of a weeks fishing rights is only 75 euros per angler per week, making it a great combination of value, comfort, accessibility and privacy. A Great Place to Relax

Had a fantastic time. I only wish we'd stayed longer. We stayed in the gardener's cottage, which is a bit tight for 5 people. (The loft is really too small for an adult, but my son enjoyed it). Well located for either visiting the nearby towns and chateaux, or just relaxing onsite by the pool, hot tub, or picturesque mill pond. Make sure you're there for the market in Loches on Wednesday and Saturday. The hosts are extremely helpful and friendly.

My girlfriend and I (mid 20s) had an exceptional time at Le Moulin de Boutineau!

It is well located with ammenities near by, and all the Loire valley wine and chateaux attractions are within easy reach.

It was so relaxing, with such a lovely pool in such a lovely setting. The facilties were clean, had everything we needed and were a delight to enjoy.

The 4aPain is stunning and overlooks the pool, but there is also a hot tub, and your own private eating area around the flowers and rockery.

There is also a glorious pair of lakes which can be circum-navigated, as well as a cute little island, with a hammock! So.... peaceful... and lots more to be honest.

Not to mention the food, you must try the food - lovingly prepared by your friendly hosts - superb - 5*.

Just a note to say a big thank you for making our stay with you so enjoyable. The location and cottage were perfect and your hospitality was so welcoming.

My car has just recovered, having regained its suspension! It was of course worth it as we continue to enjoy the abundance of wine brought home.

There is a lot more we would wish to see in the region and, coupled with the fact that we just loved the relaxed way of life, will definitely be back and therefore look forward to seeing you all again at some time in the future.
