Pelion peninsula offers many unique opportunities to explore the charming mountain villages as well as the quaint and picturesque fishing communities. You will feel as if you have stepped back in time as you admire the lush, green vegetation and old fashion lifestyle of the locals. Every season brings new and colorful wildflowers and blossoms of every sort. In a short 20 minute drive you can travel from the calm, placid waters of the Pagasitikos Bay up over the mountains to the often wild and agitated sparkling waters of the Aegean Sea. Villages here are in close proximity to one another and an easy drive to have coffee on the platia in one village, a seaside lunch with tasty fresh fish and inexpensive local wine in another village and treating yourself to a few glasses of ouzo as you watch the spectacular sunset in yet another village. Cruising the Bay by boat, exploring the land on foot or driving from one village to the next all offer amazing experiences hard to find anywhere else.
Culture and History:
Every corner of Greece is filled with amazing cultural and historical significance. Pelion is no different. Known as the land of the Centaurs and renowned for Jason and the Argonauts, Pelion played an integral part of Greek Mythology. A mere 15 minutes away you can experience the beauty and serenity of a restored 12th century monastery called Moni Paou. In the city of Volos you can visit two different archaeological digs or browse the archaeological Museum of Volos featuring many antiquities from the area. An easy day trip and one not to miss are the famous hanging Monasteries of Meteora. You will be astounded at the ingenuity of the ancient Greek monks! For some Greek history, the Royal Tombs in Vergina are an easy day trip away. It features Royal finds from the family of Alexander the Great. If you are looking for a little American culture, there is a Starbucks located in Volos. Even if you are the Starbucks type, don’t miss out on the typical Greek iced coffee called frappe!

If you are looking for the 'real' Greece away from the hectic touristy spots, then you will absolutely love Pelion. Here you will have a chance to interact with the locals and appreciate their laid-back lifestyle. There is no better way to enjoy a vacation than relaxing in the calm surroundings of the Wishflowerr Villa. The villages in the area are all relatively close together so it's an easy and enjoyable drive to meander through the countryside appreciating the breathtaking views which surround you. Our favourite places to visit include the platia and huge plane tree in Tsangarada, the delicious meals at the Eagle's Restaurant on the square in Milles, the only Pizzeria in Pelion which has great food is in Milina, and Michalis' fish taverna in Platania. The beaches between Lefokastro and Afissos are great dolphin-watching spots and the Saturday market in Argalasti takes you back in time to a simpler, uncomplicated way of life. Also don't miss The Sunset restaurant in Lefokastro.
