GREAT GETAWAY - EXACTLY WHAT WE NEEDED!!

  • 5 of 5
What a wonderful little getaway - you are nestled up on a mountain at the end of a gorgeous road and really have a large area all to yourself. If you get the chance to walk the road, I highly encourage it. It is gravel, but very easily passable by both car and on foot. I woke up each morning and took our dog for a walk to check out the many creeks along the way.

The house is super cute and cozy, very clean and comfortable. You can sit on the deck, or enjoy the double porch swing in the yard. The home is only a few minutes drive from Sparta and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

The only thing I would change is that we will stay longer next time!

CHARMING MOUNTAIN GETAWAY

  • 5 of 5
We're an active senior couple and enjoyed a nice long weekend getaway at Turkey Hill Chalet. It was comfortable, well provisioned, and clean. We loved the secluded yet convenient setting. It provides for privacy and seclusion yet there is plenty to do nearby. We especially enjoyed picking our own wild blackberries and making homemade cobbler for dessert one night. If you want nightlife and noise, look elsewhere. But if you crave peaceful solitude and relaxation, you'll find it here.

QUIET WEEKEND IN A COZY CABIN....

  • 5 of 5
We spent a great weekend in Sparta and enjoyed coming back to this cozy, well-provisioned cabin each night to enjoy a glass of wine on the deck looking at the amazing long range views. Very clean cabin, with fresh smelling sheets and towels. The best part was the rain in the middle of the night on the metal roof...a wonderful sound.
Will definately be back.Would recommend getting there before dark only because the driveway seems much worse in the dark, it is very accessible though we had no problems in our car.

HANNA (NEW BERN, NC )

  • 5 of 5
We have been returning to Turkey Hill chalet for the last 3-4 yrs. The setting is private and peaceful; the
grounds spacious and safe for our small dog. The cabin is secluded, yet 10 mins from downtown Sparta
and 5 mins to the Parkway. The Fiddler's convention and the county fair are two of many events in Sparta. Long range views reach into Virginia, short range views reveal turkey and deer. The cabin is cozy
and well-provisioned; the owner very accommodating. We look foreward to future stays at Turkey Hill.

THE REWARD IS WORTH THE RIDE

  • 5 of 5
The road is gravel but well maintained. The property is exactly as described and well worth the trip. The long range view from the deck is amazing. My wife and I enjoyed a week of stress free, quiet relaxation. We watched a small herd of deer every evening come out into the clearing to graze. I would definitely reccomend this for a couples getaway or anyone wanting a quiet retreat from everyday life. All you have to take is your clothes and food. Everything else is already there.

CHARMING GETAWAY

  • 4 of 5
The cabin was clean, comfortable and provided wonderful views. You do have to travel on a gravel road so an SUV would be recommended over a car, if possible. This cabin would not be appropriate for those that would have difficulty climbing up and down from a loft, or couples with small children. However, if you are not in those categories, it is a wonderful getaway. We especially enjoyed canoeing down the New River. We hope to return again in the future.

Owner's Response: The house is advertised as a couple's getaway and also states it is not recommended for children. It is a great place for couples. It is secluded and does have a gravel road, but I have driven my Lexus in many times without a problem.
