My husband and I just returned from a week at Port Side. The house is exactly as presented in the pictures - a quaint seaside cottage - and the corner spot right on the water offered a wonderful piece of private nature for us. The cable and internet worked flawlessly (big plus in our book). The small community where the house is was very well maintained, with white gravel roads and sea shell driveways, and the private dock was a plus for my husband who likes to fish at 4:00 a.m. The tidal bay is perfect for clam digging, which we did and then had a cookout on the water. Our youngest son who is in Boston College came up for a few days and the three of us found the house a perfect fit. Another big plus for us was being able to bring out dog as she is as much a part of our family as we are (hey I'd leave the husband and kid home and take the dog!) She loved her early morning walks and swims. The location, right off of Rt 6, was great as we were able to get to Providence in 1/2 hour and Hyannis in 20 minutes. We were 5 minutes from the National Seashore, First Encounter Beach (where Myles Standish first landed), lighthouses and some of the most beautiful east coast scenery. Great local restaurants (Arnolds, Marconi Beach BBQ etc.). Super Stop & Shop is 1 mile from the house as is the town of Orleans with lots of shopping. As for the person who complained about the water - well, yes, there is a lot of iron in the water. We are experienced travelers and know to run the pipes wherever we go. That cleared up any issue. The house was impeccably clean and Liz had so much information for us that we felt right at home. There are not many affordable houses on the water, with privacy and a dock etc. on the Cape. We have gone to the Cape every year for the past 15 years and normally stay at my husband's family home in Cotuit. Due to scheduling conflicts we had to look for an alternative and we are absolutely glad we did. We are planning on renting the place next year for a few weeks as we enjoyed Port Side and the Lower Cape far better than the Upper Cape. Great time all around, Thank you Liz! Theresa Doonan
