Beautifull stone cottage on Mizen Head overlooking sea and beaches

We came for a weeks' holiday with our two year old daughter. The bedrooms have blackout blinds so ideal for keeping little ones asleep for longer! Ina and Peter gave us a very warm welcome and lots of good suggestions for what to do locally. As ever, West Cork was stunningly beautiful, both in sunshine and rain. The winds can be chilly so pack your woollies, but the private garden is wonderfully sheltered.

Barleycove beach is ideal for toddlers, they can play safely in the estuary without having to brave the waves on the main beach. Crookhaven has some great places to eat which are child friendly. One thing to bear in mind is the cast iron spiral staircase, maybe not suitable for younger or less confident children, but our daughter managed it fine. There are also a few steps and levels in the garden.

The cottage was very clean and has been really nicely finished and everything you need is either there or available to borrow from Peter and Ina. A great beach holiday location if you get the weather, but it would also be a very romantic retreat for a couple who like the great outdoors, good food and a cosy fire to return to in the evenings.
