Here is your chance to stay in a superb 18th century Andalusian mansion recently converted to retain all its historic charm but with elegant modern facilities such as the large swimming pool, very well appointed kitchen and a library with over a 1000 books, a wide collection of film DVDs and wifi internet connection.

The house itself is very spacious (the diningliving room is over 60 m2) and there is a wide choice of comfortable bedrooms, each individually furnished and with shared but direct access to large bathrooms.

The kitchen is very big and well appointed, allowing more than one cook to feed large families. It opens onto the garden as well as onto the vast diningliving room. But restaurants and tapas bars abound within walking distance, so maybe you will not do much cookin

6 of us stayed in this house in Ecija for 10 days in late May 2012. Initially we felt the approach to the town looked a little uninteresting, but the house is in the old centre which is a maze of narrow streets (hire a small car and beware the kerbs...) and towers.

The house is beautifully renovated and the library (you really don't need to bring novels) was a plus as was the use of the laptop and internet. At the time of year we went we found the house cool (clearly built to be kept cool in the extreme heat- take fleeces at that time of year) but there was a good supply of olive wood for the fire (easy to light and a real focus) and, although we used the gas heaters we didn't get around to using the bedroom ACs as heating. It was refreshing to find such items as loo paper, and dishwasher tablets provided, and, we left ours to replenish the supplies. When we had a problem re the gas bottles we emailed the owner and her representative, Malcolm (one of the very few British people within 30 miles) came straight away to resolve it.

We found that the people were extremely friendly and made every effort to understand our generally very basic Spanish. There was a good supermarket within walking distance - marked on the map in the house- and we used that and the local shops rather than the local Carrefour. The very near covered market was wonderful for fruit and vegetables.

Our hire cars were essential (beware the 'ramp' into the garage- drove in once, scaped the bottom noisily, and decided this was not sensible), then used street parking. We visited Cadiz, Seville, Carmona, Cordoba and Malaga- no need to list the cultural highspots I'm sure.

In general a very interesting place to stay for the feel of a working Spanish town with an historical centre that begins to grow on you.

Excellent séjour !

Maison admirablement située, dans la ville d'Ecija (centrale et calme) et dans la région. La (grande ) chaleur du mois d'août est rendue supportable par la structure et l'équipement de la maison (hauteur de plafond, air conditionné dans les chambres, ventilateurs et...une très agréable piscine entourée d'un beau jardin). Nous avons pu vivre à 15 sans se marcher sur les pieds ! Et, ce qui ne gâte rien, une cuisine spacieuse et très bien équipée.

Fabuleux séjour

Nous (3 familles/15 personnes) avons passé un superbe séjour dans cette magnifique demeure; l'agencement de la maison est remarquable (aucune gêne à 15),très belle et grande maison rénovée avec beaucoup de goût (en particulier, très beau patio);
- les pièces de vie sont grandes: très beau salon avec plusieurs espaces, idem pour la cuisine, on peut être 4/5 personnes sans problème dans la cuisine pour préparer les repas;
- belle piscine (indispensable l'été); la piscine est d'ailleurs plus grande que l'impression qu'en donnent les photos du site;
- situation idéale dans Ecija pour aller flâner dans la ville;
- situation idéale en Andalousie pour aller visiter Séville, Cordoue, Grenade...
-propriétaire sensible au bien -être des locataires (appel téléphonique pour s'assurer que tout va bien)

Qqs suggestions : un deuxième réfrigérateur l'été serait le bienvenu (surtout quand on est 15), qqs transats supplémentaires pour la piscine...

Mais tout était parfait: merci à Mme C. , et au personnel intervenant pour la piscine, l'accueil et ménage (j'ai oublié leurs prénoms, mea culpa!!)

Merveilleux séjour en Andalousie

Que dire, tant de choses, mais par quoi commencer.
Peut être par notre recherche sur Internet et la découverte entre mille de la maison d'Ecija, ville inconnue jusqu'à lors, idéalement située (entre Séville et Cordoue) et qui présentait un espace à vivre volumineux et bien décoré, un patio (les femmes en rêvaient), une piscine (pour les enfants) et un prix correct.
Voilà, c'était décidé dès le mois de janvier pour nos vacances de Pâques, nous irions en Andalousie et dans cette maison.
Nous, 3 familles, 6 adultes et 7 enfants.
Tout au long de ces semaines d'attente et des quelques 11 heures de voitures, la question permanente : Avons nous fait le bon choix ?
Fatigués par le voyage mais très excités, nous voilà arrivés à Ecija et entrons dans la vieille ville à destination de la maison (merci le GPS).
Chaleur, dépaysement total, village merveilleux aux rues étroites et aux maisons aux murs blancs et nous voici devant la porte en bois cloutée. Rafael notre contact, nous ouvre, et là, le soulagement et même l'enthousiasme tant la maison répondait à nos attentes et à son descriptif et promettait un séjour idéal.
Le patio (apéro du soir), le jardin (farniente et baignade), la cuisine (dégustation de pata negra) , les chambres (repos bien mérité), nous ont permis d'être à notre aise et de partager les espaces.
Les conseils du propriétaire sur les visites nous ont inciter à sortir des sentiers battus et de profiter pleinement de ce pays.
En résumé un super séjour dans une petite ville à découvrir, laissez vous tenter vous ne serez pas déçus.

Ecija is ideally situated on the A4 motorway between Seville (45mn) and Cordoba (20mn), with easy access to Granada, Ronda and other tourist sites.

There are daily flights to Seville from London, Liverpool and Dublin with low cost companies.

Malaga airport is 90mn away.

There are natural parks ( sierra de Hornachuelos, sierra norte de Sevilla) only a few minutes drive away from Ecija, where eagles can be spotted in the bright blue sky.

Ecija has retained a lot of its andalusian character and boast a stunning Museum, as well as many palaces, churches and 11 Baroque church towers, home to huge storks nests! The roman mosaics and the "Wounded Amazon", masterpieces from the 2nd century AD found locally, are said to be some of the finest in the world.

There is also a large shopping mall with all the modern shops and supermarkets as you get in the town from Seville.

The teak tables can be moved into the patio or the garden for al fresco dining. There are two very large parasols that fit on tables. There is an automated watering system fitted on the secured well. All the fruit from the garden ( apricots, figs, pomegranates, almonds, mandarins and oranges) are at your disposal, when they are ripe. There is a barbecue and deck chairs in the garden. The swimming pool is fitted with an anti-fall alarm, according to French safety laws, but it does not rule out parental vigilance! All the house linen (bed clothes, towels, tea towels and table clothes) is provided and washed each week. In winter, we provide olive wood for the fire place and gas bottles for the heaters. There are electric heaters for the bedrooms and bathrooms.
