Photos and Description of the Holmes Beach vacation rental 3 bedrooms with unique two-master suites well-suited for families or two couples

Rent a true island home in an unspoiled paradise. We made our home (and attached writer's cottage) an exotic, classy yet comfy getaway, furnished with oriental rugs, dark hardwoods and artwork purchased on our trips around the globe. One of the owner's grew up on this island, and now works as a food writer traveling around the world but returns here to cook, read and relax, so you'll find a well-stocked kitchen and lots of books. You'll be surrounded by other homes, not condos or hotels, just 200 yards/meters to the white sandy beaches. It's a great area for golfing, diving, fishing and other sports. The owner has provided a dining guide, plus tips on where to score great seafood to grill on your own. There's a private dock in a nearby marina that can be used if you rent a boat or kayak, or just for fishing. There's a stop for the free island trolley just steps outside the door. You can take a 'virtual tour' of the main house and cottage on our web site, twinpalmsflorida.com

Our house is not like the sparsely furnished rentals you may find elsewhere. It's our home. You'll find everything to a high standard, from high thread-count linens atop quality beds to excellent cookware in the recently remodeled kitchen. We have many children in our life, so you'll find toys, games, videos and everything set up for them. We know that small touches make the difference to a holiday. You'll be greeted with a welcome basket on your arrival, put together by our great manager, Irene who lives just four blocks away. (We call her 'mom.') One of the owners grew up on the island, and has prepared a special package of information on where to eat, shop, dine, play and more. After a hard day of play, relax at home on our lovely 'tiki porch' with a cool cocktail. Need to work? There's the 'Hemingway Office,' looking out at at the lush palm-studded terrace. (Hi-speed wi-fi/ISDN included.) About 80% of our guests are return visitors. Maybe you'll be one of them?

Anna Maria Island is located off the central West Coast of Florida on the Gulf of Mexico. It lies about 65 km south of Tampa/St. Petersburg and about 30 km north of Sarasota. It is about 175 km to Orlando theme parks. It's about 400 km to Miami, on the other side of the state. The island itself is about seven miles long, flanked by white Gulf beaches on one side, and inter coastal waterway the next. The house is in Holmes Beach, one of the three small towns on the island. The island itself is known as a haven for sea turtles and the northern portion of the island is rather undeveloped. There are several small restaurants, bars and cafes on the island, and rental agencies for bikes, children's needs and even kayaks. The closest airport is Sarasota-Bradenton Airport, but Tampa International Airport is usually the best value option for international flights. Some people opt to fly into Orlando, but be reminded it is about a two hour drive.

Another wonderful stay at Twin Palms

Anna-Manchestesr Manchester, England
Review Submitted: October 6, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
Just returned from another wonderful holiday at Twin Palms. It was our second stay. One our first trip, we found it even nicer and well-appointed than we expected, not to mention quite a bit larger! It's beautiful place, immaculately kept, lots of attention to the details. We enjoyed this location, close to the beach, right next to a free trolley stop and yet quiet and private.

Irene, the manager, is a total star. Each time we've arrived, she's set out a welcome of wine & cheese, fresh baked brownies and a bouquet of flowers or herbs from her garden. We stayed in winter last year and she gave us fresh grapefruit and oranges from her trees, too! She has lived on the island 30 years and can answer any question about the area, a great resource for newbie visitors like us last year!

The description here is quite right when it says that it's more of a "home" than a rental. Everything's provided, including oils, spices, etc. to cook with in the kitchen. Really nice not to have to go buy all that stuff. Great big washer/dryer, chairs for the beach, lots of great books! We had friends with a two-year-old visit for two nights and Irene sorted a playpen, stroller, toys and even Baby Einsetin videos.

The restaurant recs from the owners were spot on, too. Through their suggestions, we found The Waterfront (north end of island), The Columbia (Spanish) and a little French bistro called The Creperie -- all fantastic. Also rented kayaks and launched them from their dock nearby. Great fun.

Can't say enough good things about this house, and especially Irene. It's just a special place, and we cannot wait to return next year.
