Further details for this vacation farmhouse rental in Coubeyrac, France

The Aquitaine/Gironde/Dordogne region: South west France, enjoys long hot summers and mild short winters. Steeped in history the area was a battle ground between French and English kings. The legacy being hundreds of Bastides towns (fortified) and Chateaux’s (castles). The countryside is beautiful rolling hills, vineyards, orchards and numerous villages to explore. Castillion la Bataille is only 10mins away, this being the last decisive battle of the hundred years war. The world heritage site of Saint Emilion, an incredible open air museum only 25mins away is a stunning ochre coloured stone built town full of narrow streets, beautiful architecture, views and restaurants and is a world famous wine production area, so lots of tasting to try. Bordeaux’s cosmopolitan city atmosphere is 1 hour away, with good park and ride links.

Outside and Grounds: All guest are welcome to wander around our grounds and pick fruit from our trees. The garden area is fairly flat however some of our ground has a steep gradient and can be uneven. So the need for a good pair of shoes if to be explored. There is a Teak table and chairs situated in the guests garden which is shaded by a big fruit tree. A sheltered area just outside the entrance has an outdoor swing. This is great to sit and unwind with a good book and a large glass of red wine after an afternoon exploring the area either by car, on foot or mountain bikes (bikes are available to our guests ). We also have a children's play area with swings and a slide and room to play football and other ball games. (please note the property and grounds are non smoking and the pool is shared with the owners).

La Tuilerie - The perfect French week

tomii UK, Kent
Review Submitted: September 1, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
This really was all that it promised to be from the description and photos on the website - in fact even better. It's a perfect place to go for one family or, as we did, as 2 couples & 1 child. The setting is stunning, on a hillside overlooking the vineyards and the spires of a distant village.

The property inside is in very good order, clean and well stocked. Bedrooms are as pretty as a boutique hotel. A wonderful pack of goodies to get you started on arrival. Liz and family are very hepful, full of ideas of things to do if you aks them but leave you to enjoy your break. You have a lot of privacy with your own well maintained garden full of flowers and a BBQ. Pool is wonderful with incredible view as you float on a lilo.

St Emillion is a short drive away and is a must see. Try canoeing down the dordoigne or a day trip to Europes biggest sand dune at Arcachon if your an explorer. In truth,of these 3 things we actually only did St Emillion . The temptation just to lounge in this amazing setting with a good book or play in the pool with our daughter was too great.

Final thing. There's a fantastic restaurant les ramparts in nearby village with the most beautiful view across the valley. Food was of a high standard and extremely good value.

Beautifully appointed and furnished, bags of space even for four sharing, fantastic views over unspoilt rolling french valleys and countryside and well removed from everything. Set in vineyard countryside the Gite is a wonderful place to relax and forget the pressures and daily routines of work and home.

Liz makes a wonderful host, finding a perfect balance between being there when you have any questions but unobtrusive so as to make the holiday yours. While the gardens, pool and barbecue all provide more reason to spend more time at the gite just relaxing - though the marvellous St. Emilion vineyards are still too tantalisingly close not to venture out to a couple of times.

Perfect for families, perfect for friends and perfect for couples looking to spend some quality time together.
I'd recommend Lizzie's place very highly indeed.

Fresh and well-equipped gite in gorgeous setting.

Sam & Andy London
Review Submitted: September 15, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
This gite is really nicely refurbished by the owners, with a big open plan kitchen/diner/sitting room (perfect for families) and two nicely presented bedrooms. The shady courtyard spot for the outside table has magnificent views over the vineyards. Owners were friendly and helpful (nice little gestures like helping us get web-access when we needed it, and taking our washing in from a shower one day) but not at all intrusive. The pool was beautifully clean, and has an alarm system which is reassuring if you're travelling with younger children. Situation-wise, it's very easy travelling to Bergerac and St Emilion, and about 80mins to the coast. We did find it a little quiet though, so this is one for people who are happy to get out & about in the car. Very happy to recommend for future visitors.

Lovely Gite - Fabulous Location

JECTRC London
Review Submitted: September 9, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
We spent a week at La Tuilerie in July and thoroughly enjoyed it. The photos and description on the website are accurate and we were not disappointed at all on arrival which has happened with other Gites when the photographs have been carefully taken to hide nearby roads, buildings, farm sheds etc. Looking back at the photos makes me long to return. The setting of the Gite is idyllic, vineyards wherever you look and so quiet and peaceful. The surrounding countryside is beautiful. The gite is very well equipped and such a treat to have sheets as good as one's own on the beds - again this is not always to be found. Lizzie and David were perfect hosts, around and happy to be asked questions but not intrusive. We enjoyed cycling and canoeing on the Dordogne, playing tennis nearby and lazing around the pool. Would love to return next year. Our two teenage boys really appreciated a TV with english programmes although we would have been happy without it!

Stunning, peaceful and fantastic hosts

Review Submitted: July 1, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
We had a fantastic time in this gite. Lizzie and David were very helpful and always around for us to ask questions. set in an fantastic location, very isolated, but with a few good restaurants nearby, I'd recommend for anyone who wants to get away from it all - we went mainly for winetasting and relaxing and were certainly not dissappointed.
Owner's Response: we live at the property full time and dont think that the location is 'very isolated'. yes we are in the country but only 5km from two good villages with equally good amenities. though a car is essential .
