The flat is situated in the heart of Poble Sec.It is just a 10-20 minute walk to the centre of the city and Las Ramblas. A good choice if you want to be central but away from the crowds of tourists that populate more central areas.
Montjuic and Placa Espanya are also very close by. The area is safe and quiet and primarily residential but there is much entertainment too. This includes local bars, theatres. In the Avinguda Paral.lel there is the theatre El Molino, one of the oldest Café Chantant in Europe, the Teatro Victoria and the Teatro Condal. The Ciutat del Teatre (City of the Theatre) is just a 10-minute walk from the flat. It is a large square where there is the School of Theatre and 2 other important theatres , the Teatre Lliure (contemporary theatre) and Mercat de les Flors, devoted to dancing and ballet.
Facilities-wise because the area is residential there is a good range of amenities and facilities from pharmacies to supermarkets. Also very near Poble Sec/ Paral.lel is the Mercat Sant Antoni which is a large market selling primarily food products, a good place to wander and overload your senses. The area is loaded with nice places, restaurants and bars where to taste tapas, cocktail snacks, or drink a beer.
The event halls and the Palau de Congressos near Plaça de Espanya also make the Paral.lel/ Poble Sec area perfect for those in Barcelona on business.
