The Vendee has marked French history with its wars of the same name during the French Revolution. The confrontation between rebel peasants (known as "Whites") and revolutionary troops (known as "Blues") lasted several years, caused several hundred thousand deaths and left a lasting mark on Vendean imagination. La Bergeliere is situated in the heart of the hedged farmland of the Vendee, territory of the military Vendee. The inhabitants of the Vendee attach a lot of importance to their culture and history. The Puy-du-Fou, nearby, reveals a great part of the history of the Vendee to the audience; the "Cinescenie" is the biggest night show in the world: 1.200 actors wear 8.000 costumes and perform in front of you on a 23ha stage!
