LUXURY VILLA WITH PRIVATE POOL AND LAKEVIEW

Montauroux Villa Rental Photos and Description

Spacious villa with 6 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, sleeps 11

On a peaceful hillside enjoying glorious views over Lake St Cassien, Les Chênes villa is perfectly located to enjoy both the magnificent countryside and the delights of the Riviera. The villa is set in an acre of beautifully landscaped grounds with a private pool (thermal cover and child safety alarm), garden kitchen/BBQ and several dining terraces. Guests enjoy free use of a tennis court. The Cannes beaches are a 30 minute drive.

The villa comfortably accommodates 11 people on three floors. On the ground floor, there is a double bedroom with fully tiled en-suite bathroom (with shower, washbasin and WC), two twin bedrooms, a kitchen and fully tiled bathroom with bath/shower, washbasin and WC. Two of the bedrooms have French doors which open out onto the garden.

On the first floor there is a large open plan lounge/dining room, a very spacious fully fitted oak kitchen, an indoor terrace with a dining area, a double bedroom, twin bedroom opening onto a side terrace, a bathroom with a shower, bath, two washbasins and a separate WC.

On the second floor there is a mezzanine bedroom with a single bed which opens onto an upper terrace with views over the lake and hills, as far as St Tropez.

The Villa Grounds: The villa is located in an acre of landscaped grounds within a forest of oak and pine. The ground floor opens out onto the lawned garden with views over the surrounding hills and lake. The garden is very secluded with lots of mature trees, palms and flowers. There is a spacious pool terrace with garden furniture and parasols and an 8m x 4m tiled pool, benefiting from a thermal cover to enable swimming early and late in the season as well as a child safety alarm. The villa and grounds are South-West facing, enjoying day long sunshine throughout the year. You are welcome to make use of the shared tennis court, free of charge.

There is an outside dining area on the garden level overlooking the lawn, as well as dining terraces on both the first and second floors, an indoor terrace with a small garden and a fully equipped, covered garden kitchen/barbecue area with a dining table next to the pool. The BBQ is charcoal based. The upper terrace affords magnificent views over the hills and nearby lake.

The Local Area: The area where Montauroux is located is known as the “Pays de Fayence”, Fayence being the largest local village, while the “département” is The Var, boasting some of the finest scenery Provence has to offer. The countryside is predominantly wooded hillsides dotted with picturesque, perched villages and interspersed with luxuriant valleys and deep gorges sparkling with fast flowing rivers and crystalline rock pools. The clear waters of nearby Lake St. Cassien are excellent for swimming. It is also famous for carp fishing and offers a range of watersports. The nearest lake access is located a short drive down the road and there are many beaches and swimming areas dotted around the lake. You can also take a trip into the Tanneron hills and enjoy marvellous views over the lake and the Esterel National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty and spectacular peaks. There are also numerous interesting nearby villages such as Callian, Fayence, Seillans, Bargemon, St. Cezaire and Mons.

The Cote d'Azur: The Riviera has been known since the early nineteenth century as Europe’s leading playground. As a holiday destination it is unsurpassed in the world, offering a beautiful stretch of coastline backed by the jagged peaks of the Alps, superbly maintained top class resorts, magnificent promenades and gardens, as well as a plethora of historic towns and ancient hilltop villages amid fabulous countryside, and with an exceptional climate, cuisine and wine.

The coastline is an ever-changing series of glimmering bays interspersed with rugged rocky peninsulas and dramatic cliffs falling straight into the sea. The coastal towns are renowned the world over. Cannes is a 35 minute drive, Antibes 40 minutes and Nice 45 minutes. Our nearest beaches are at either Theoule, near Cannes or St. Raphael, both 25 minutes drive. Monaco is about an hour away and St. Tropez about an hour and a half, although it is advisable to take the ferry from St. Raphael in peak season when the St. Tropez area gets busy.

We (Jill and Ray) bought Les Chenes (property Ref 6350) as our permanent residence in 1994. We have been renting the property out as a holiday home since 2002 when we moved into another house which we had built near Seillans. We bought property ref 9397 in 1998 with a view to renting it out as a rental home. We live permanently near Seillans and actively manage our properties ourselves so they are always maintained to a high standard and we are on hand to solve any problems that may arise during the course of the rental season. When renting holiday homes for ourselves we have found that it can be a big advantage to have the owners on hand.

Jill McQueen purchased this villa in 1994

We fell in love with the area as soon as we first explored it. The scenery is very beautiful, it is quieter than the coastal resorts and yet has easy access to the Côte d'Azur. The area offers everything we enjoy doing - terrific hiking, swimming and kayaking on the lake, mountain biking trails and nearby ski-ing. In addition there are lots of interesting villages steeped in history and tradition, with numerous local festivals to enjoy. Not to mention all the excellent restaurants and vineyards. The other great advantage is proximity to the coast and all that has to offer from a sporting, cultural and gastronomic point of view. All in all, there's something for everyone here.

The property is located in a beautiful, protected area surrounded by green belt so, although it is residential, all the houses in the area have lots of land so it is very private and secluded. The domaine itself has been developed to maintain a maximum of greenery and the indigenous pine forest has been largely preserved. In addition it is very well maintained. The house is located only a few minutes drive from the lake and has superb views over lake St Cassien and the hills of the Esterel regional park, especially from the upper terrace which benefits from the last rays of the setting sun year round and was always our favourite spot for a pre- dinner drink. The location is also extremely convenient for visiting the Côte d'Azur resorts (10 mins to A8 motorway linking the resorts)

A SPECIAL PLACE

  • 5 of 5
This was our first visit to this region and chose the villa for its location near to Nice. I have to say that the villa was excellent and exceeded our expectations. It was spotlessly clean and the owners had left some essentials to get us started which was well appreciated. The setting is also fantastic and I have not stopped talking about how good the whole experience was to everyone. It was ideal for the whole family feeling very warm, relaxing and comfortable. The owners make the whole process right from booking to handing it back over very easy and very professional. If I am to visit this area again then Provence villas will be my first call to see what they have available. A truly excellent experience from start to finish just what holidays are about.

LES CHENES VILLA

Les Chênes villa

We have have visited the Villa twice and loved both brief weeks. We flew to Nice which has the advantage of being a small airport by Heathrow/ Gatwick standards. The luggage comes through quite quickly even at peak season and the collection of a hire car if pre-booked and pre- paid is speedy. The drive out to Montauroux is easy to follow either using Jill’s written directions or a Sat Nav(bring your own it is cheaper).Remember also to have some coins for the toll roads . The drivers behind you are not on holiday and are quick to hoot at fumbling Brits expecting change for euro notes.

A forty minute drive brings you to the door of the Villa don’t forget to accelerate up the steep drive .More than once we stalled and rolled back to the start point.
The area around Montauroux is great. Within a few minutes drive or a bit of a hike for the more energetic you can be in the very French sleepy village of Montauroux with its bowls pitch and cafes round the square. We managed to fill our baskets most mornings with freshly baked croissants, bread, pate, fruit, wine and cheese. Forget about cholesterol and dietary advice. There was time for a slow perfect black coffee and than home.

When country life palled it was very easy to drive back to
Nice ,find cheap plentiful parking near the station and wander around. Nice itself with the beach restaurants and shops was a wonderful day out. A short train journey takes you to Cannes, Monte Carlo St Tropez. We enjoyed the proximity of fast life and slow life. We drove to several villages perched on hills with wonderful views good restaurants and a gentle drive home.

The Villa is very secluded and quite private so ideal for teenagers who want to sleep all morning make noise in the pool in the afternoon and listen to music at night. The villa is large and on three levels. The garden is well kept and quite large. There is sufficient room for those who value quiet to be quiet and those who enjoy louder conversations to be loud. There are also several dining areas with fridges tables BBQ facilities and shade. The main kitchen is very well equipped with cutlery pots pans dish washer glasses and two dining areas one inside one outside,. As the Villa is half way up a hill the views were extensive over the valley. The house receives full afternoon sun. The pool itself is secluded with ample sun beds. For the more adventurous swimmer there is a wonderful lake ten minutes drive from the h

The villa is located just five minutes drive from the hill-top village of Montauroux, 25 kilometres to the north-west of Cannes and 15 kilometres west of Grasse. It is situated on a peaceful wooded hillside with magnificent views over Lake St Cassien and the Esterel National Park, providing year round seclusion, yet easy access to all the region has to offer. The Côte d’Azur resorts can be quickly reached via the A8 motorway which is 15 minutes away. It is a 30 minute drive to Cannes or Fréjus/St. Raphael, 35 minutes to Nice airport, 1 hour to Monaco and 11/2 hours to the Gorges du Verdon and St. Tropez.

The area where Montauroux is located is known as the “Pays de Fayence”, Fayence being the largest local village, while the “département” is The Var, boasting some of the finest scenery Provence has to offer. The countryside is predominantly wooded hillsides dotted with picturesque, perched villages and interspersed with luxuriant valleys and deep gorges sparkling with fast flowing rivers and crystalline rock pools. You can also take a trip into the Tanneron hills and enjoy marvellous views over the lake and the Esterel Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty and spectacular peaks. Most outdoor activities are available in the area, including golf, tennis, horseriding, canyoning, gliding, watersports, climbing and hiking.

As the villa is on a hill, a car is necessary to visit the local restaurants and shops. Plenty of local taxis are available if you prefer not to drive.
