The unique landscape of the Cinque Terre (the five lands) was listed by UNESCO in 1998 as a World Heritage Site. The National Park now protects the landscape and encourages conservation of the dry stone walls built to cultivate vineyards on the steep terraces that slope down to the sea. The crystal clear waters of the Cinque Terre were made a Marine Protected Area in 1997 to protect the rocky seabed, the habitat of a diverse range of coral. The village of Manarola dates back to the 12th century, and the area remains famous for its white wine, pesto and anchovies. As vehicles are not permitted in Manarola, travel to and within the Cinque Terre is best by train, boat or by foot. The purchase of a 1, 2, 3 or 7 day Cinque Terre Card issued by the National Park enables unlimited use of the trains, buses and paths within the area. The best beaches are at Monterosso and Bonassola which are reached easily from Manarola. However, it is possible to swim off the rocks in Manarola.

A magic experience

tugela Forster, Australia
Review Submitted: July 31, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We spent a week in Casa Bella Vista during July, 2009. The views from all rooms are nothing less than stunning and the property is situated in a quiet laneway at the top of the village. The ambience is one of homely comfort with all the facilities you need available. There is also an amazing roof garden that is accessed by a wrought iron spiral staircase on which you can enjoy sundowners . Manarola is one of the queiter villages but well placed for easy access to each of the other four.
We would have no hesitation in recommending this property for people seeking a haven to relax in a genuine Ligurian village hideaway.

Family Holiday

A lovely 10 days to explore the Cinque Terre with 2 boys aged 12 and 15 and husband.
I think that staying in the village, next door to locals is the only way of getting the true atmosphere of the region.
Shopping and preparing meals in the well appointed kitchen and enjoying them with a magnificent view, unequalled by any restaurant.
Being able to wash and line dry clothes on an overseas holiday is wonderful.
I would recomend Bella Vista to anyone wanting to visit the Cinque Terre, it is beautifully maintained, close to shops and station.

Fabulous experience!

Cinque Terre Lover Vancouver, Canada
Review Submitted: November 14, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
We had 5 friends (1 couple) stay at the villa and we had an incredible time. We used the rooftop deck for morning breakfasts and gorgeous views of the Ligurian sea. The amenities were practical with some basic foods and condiments covered. We used the laundry washer and hung our clothes in the sun. The beds were comfortable. The two kitchens came in handy (as did 2 bathrooms!).

We had a birdseye view of the sun and swim area at the ocean. Manarola is a beautiful town in the cinque terre and our villa was an important part of our experience. We spent each day travelling to a different town in the Cinque Terre and day trips to Pisa and Lucca were easy by train.

I would highly recommend this property!

Fantastic location

Review Submitted: October 13, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
We have just returned from a week on the beautiful Cinque Terre and would not hesitate to recommend this house to anyone (apart from people who can't manage stairs because it's on 5 floors). The photos are absolutely spot on - views for miles, sea close, and only a very short walk to the village. The descriptions were very accurate. The property was clean and well maintained - very attractively presented and felt like home. Manarola is our pick of the all 5 villages - not as touristy as the others. When we were there it seemed busy during the day but come 5pm and all the day trippers would leave and you would be left with a few tourists staying in the village and the locals. Several good restaurants to try out. Note that the Co-op and Alimentari close between 1pm and 5pm and have only limited supplies for cooking your own meals - we ate out most nights as a result. If you like walking and don't like crowds get up early (8am) and do the walks before the tracks get crowded. All the tracks are worthwhile and do get harder as you head towards Monterosso. The train pass addon is very worthwhile to the Cinque Terre Park pass. Use it to visit Levanto and La Spezia. Portovenere is well worth a day visit. (use the ferry). Would rush back here in a flash if it wasn't so far away (we're from New Zealand).

It's a Gem!

gmoney Newton, KS. USA
Review Submitted: July 14, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2007
Stayed here in late June of 2007. Its a GREAT location and a wonderful house with plenty of space for six. The terrace overlooking the Med. is a spectacular place to have your meal after you fix it in the upstairs kitchen. ( house has two kitchens if you are looking to split living arrangements.) All the access you need to the Cinque Terra, Italian Riviera, and a short day trip to most any location in Northcentral Tuscany. Manarola is now the place to get away from it all in the Cinque Terra. This house is tops in terms of lacation and accomodations.
