The holiday houses of the Domain Dreuzy used to be outbuildings of a 19th century mansion inhabited by the gardener and the doorkeeper.

They are separated by some 400 metres of meadows, about the same distance from the owners.

LE JARDINIER stands on a wooded hill. Due to its most unusual architecture it is listed in the patrimony department of the Nièvre.

Restored using authentic materials, the amenities offer all modern comforts.

Exposed beams, Burgundian terracotta floor tiles, panned windows and stone steps lend unique character to this cottage.

The living room, traditionally furnished, in a comfortable country style with a monumental fireplace for cosy evenings, gives on to a covered patio and immense open spaces inviting to outdoor activities either in the sun or in the shade of ancient trees.

The ground floor kitchen, large enough to eat in, is fully equipped to the highest standards.

The house, which includes a basement, is on two floors, each with its own WC. A wooden staircase leads from the living room upstairs to the bedrooms and bathroom.

No need of any garden fences...the private space around the house is of over 1000 sq.m., surrounded by meadows, clumps of trees and fields. No road, just nature.

50 metres ahead, horse stables can be prepared to welcome the best friends of our rider visitors. An exclusive shaded and fenced meadow of 4000 sq.m., with water point, is at disposal. Horse rides start directly from the spot !

LE GARDIEN stands in the middle of a 600 sq.m wide garden., with a mix of shade and sun surrourded by big trees, wide fields and meadows. A fence and a thick hedge protect children and dogs and ensure outdoor privacy.

It is a house with a lot of charm, restored using authentic materials, the amenities offer all modern comforts.

Exposed beams, wooden inside shutters and large flagstones on the ground floor, Burgundian terracotta floor tiles and exposed main beams on the first floor, panned windows, open fireplaces of stone lend a very specific character to the house.

The living room is filled with light during the day and is very cosy with its open fireplace in the evening. A large door gives access to the garden with its former park gate and a bridle path lined with huge ancient trees.

The kitchen is spacious with a large dining table, fully equipped with all modern amenities. A wood stove can complete the electric heating of the kitchen.

The house includes a basement and two floors, each with WC.

One can reach the ground floor from the garden over several stone steps either through the kitchen door or the living room door ; a wooden staircase leads from the living room to the upper bedrooms and bathroom.

The 100 sq.m. house is isolated, self-contained, no neighbour, in the middle of a 600 sq.m. fenced garden. Built on basement with two levels. Ground floor : spacious kitchen with large dining table , lumber room, open fireplace with wood stove, old stone sink. Corridor with WC and hand-wash basin. Living room with open fireplace and staircase to the first floor. Both kitchen and living room have direct access to stone landings to the garden. First floor : two large bedrooms at each end of the corridor, one north, one south, bathroom/WC and coat stand. Heating is supplied by electric convectors in each room, additional wood stove in the kitchen and open fireplace in the living room.

The Domain of Dreuzy is the former park (over 30 acres) of a 150 years old mansion, victim of a fire today disappeared. Its trees are over hundred years old.

Both houses, 'Le JARDINIER du château' (the Gardener) and 'Le GARDIEN du château' (the Doorkeeper) are isolated and enjoy spectacular panoramas. The surrounding countryside is composed of rolling hills and hedged farmland.

Flora and fauna abound in unspoiled nature : red squirrels, game of all sizes, birds of prey...

There is a nature walk next to the properties and the Nivernais Canal, just 5 km away, is perfect for easy walks and bike rides ; horse riding stables 3 km from the houses, swimming in either the river Yonne or nearby lakes.

Le JARDINIER and Le GARDIEN are situated next to the natural park of the Morvan region and are ideally located to discover all the cultural riches of the region : Vézelay, Autun, Avallon, Clamecy, Château-Chinon, Nevers, Guédelon...Wine regions of Loire and Burgundy, gastronomy, amusement parks, hunting, all types of fishing, golf courses and other sports easy to reach.

  • The bathroom is situated on the fist floor between the two bedrooms. Ligth floods in from a window overlooking the countryside of fields and meadows. Modern shower, wash basin and toilet, hair dryer. All towels are supplied. On the ground floor, between kitchen and living room, extra WC with hand-wash basin.

  • The house has two bedrooms on the first floor, reachable from a landing corridor in the middle and bathroom with WC at one end. Exposed beams, antique Burgundian terracotta floor tiles are just some of the authentic features of this house. Windows open towards the huge trees of the former park ; one bedroom (21sq.m.) to the north, has two twin beds and a cot ; the other bedroom (20sq.m.) to the south, has three single beds. Modern beding is first quality, slatted bases, 90 cm wide. All bed-sheets, duvet covers and pillow cases are supplied..

Le Gardien has a basement of 50 sq.m. easy of access for storage of bikes or other outdoor equipment, barbecue and garden furniture, all being supplied. Television with French TNT channels, DVD and CD players, radio set, books and games. Detailed documentation concerning the house and the region, in addition a multitude of tourist brochures, are disposed for easy consultation. The owners, Sabine and Jean, are always ready to answer questions or needs that you may have (baby equipment, extra pillows or blankets, specific requests for a special dinner...). They have been living in the Nièvre for a long time and are happy to share their knowledge of the area, including insider ideas for outings and current events.
