Casa del Gatta

Il Poggiolo ia an old staging post which was built about 1700. From 1720 it was a hostelry and resting place for travellers according to documents of the time. The recent restoration means that it is once again welcoming visitors but at the same time it has maintained many of the original characteristics. The apartments within the structure bear witness to the atmosphere of past times; the old fireplaces have been preserved and have spacious kitchens which are decorated with warm natural colours. The original furnishings dating from the 19th century help to maintain the authentic but refined flavour of popular Tuscan tradition. On the ground floor there is a large communal area and through an entrance hall you find the enoteca and restaurant where it is possible to have dinner. A large old cantina dug out of the tufa is the backdrop for your wine tasting. Outside there is a swimming pool surrounded by olive trees. There are stables for horse riding with a guide.
