Housed on the third floor of our grand 1890 Victorian home in one of the most prestigious South Boston neighborhoods, we are conveniently located on East Broadway (voted one of Top 10 streets to live on in Boston.com May 2012 - ) with a bus stop literally at the corner of our block. Adjacent to the 'village' area, everything is safely within walking distance including the BCEC, restaurants, the subway (Red line Broadway Stop), grocery/drug stores, parks, Dorchester Heights historical monument, and the beach. This 1,000 square-ft immaculate, spacious 4-room apartment + full bath has its own separate entrance with city/water views, central air, wifi, a sizable eat-in kitchen and access to a basement pool room. The unit is simple, to provide a great value for a clean, comfortable, well-stocked space. The owners who occupy the downstairs make every effort to make the process easy & straightforward from start to finish for all renters. For 8 years now, we've thoroughly enjoyed this labor of love and all the wonderful people we've met.
We host families, tourists, actors, marathoners, and corporate clients - all enjoy our convenient location to downtown, the airport, public transport and Boston's main attractions including the Freedom Trail/Boston Common, Fenway Park, Children's Museum, JFK Library/Museum, Harvard..... all within 2 - 3 miles from here. There is no need to rent a car unless traveling well outside the city limits, although there is free on-street parking. Uniquely, our 2 oldest teenagers are available to babysit.
Finally, on rare occasions we will rent the entire house to parties of 7 or more. Please call the listed phone number for further information.
This was my second stay in this lovely home. As awesome as the property and views are, it is
the owners that make the difference. My daughter and I stayed during a historical blizzard and it was
so nice to have Donna and her husband check to see how we were doing. They also can send you
to the great little places to eat. This is such a great location with a bus stop right there and the train just
up the street a few blocks. The flat is super clean and the views are fantastic. Also, the beds are comfy.
We hope to visit again in the fall. We really love the neighborhood and felt very safe walking at night. This is
a perfect place to explore Boston from and best of all, no car is needed. Stay in this lovely flat; you will not be disappointed!!!!
We stayed here for 3 nights with a family of 5 from Australia. The property is just as described and the owners were delightful and happy to answer all our questions. They gave us great tips about the best chowder and pizzas to eat, which we loved. The apartment is spotless, really homely and in a fantastic location. South Boston is perfect, with great little shops and lots of quaint bars. The bus is right at your doorstep and the train is only a nice walk down the hill. We would highly recommend this property LOCATION! LOCATION!!!
We stayed here for a week in August and can't recommend highly enough. Property is lovely and self contained but well equipped and comfortable. Transport links were brilliant and we had a great holiday with this apartment as our base.
We rented Donna & Max's apartment for 8 nights while my kids were in a dance comp at the nearby convention centre. So nice not to have 4 people crammed in a hotel room. The unit is spotless & spacious and exactly as the pictures show.Max &Donna are very personable & truly care about your stay.Communication before & during our stay was quick. Beds were comfortable & the unit has its own temperature control which was welcome during the humid weather. The kitchen was nicely appointed for cooking meals in but there were also many take out places near by. "Southie" is a great neighbourhood & we explored many of its charms-the boardwalk/beach area, Dorchester Heights(awesome spot to watch fireworks!!)& Castle Island.Street parking requires a bit of car jockeying but we never had a problem finding a spot close by.Transit is nearby & easy to navigate.A grocery store & pharmacy are within easy walking distance. The only point I would emphasize is that yes-there a lot of stairs up to the unit.We managed to carry up big dance bags without a problem but if you have any mobility issues you need to be aware of this. It's in the listing but sometimes people gloss over details!
We will be booking again to stay with Max & Donna.
We stayed a full week (Saturday - Saturday) in Max and Donna's spacious, spotless, third story apartment the first week in June. My husband attended a conference at the BCEC and walked every day to the conference, tho' he could have taken the bus or easily have caught a taxi. During the day I walked or caught the bus to the T station red line. All public transportation is very handy and easily accessible. The kitchen was perfect for making our morning coffee, eating breakfast in, and we even ate dinner "at home" a couple of nights. The grocery store is just 3-4 blocks from the house. The bed was very comfortable and the master bedroom, at the back of the apartment, was quiet. I would happily stay here again. Donna answered all emails very promptly and thoroughly.
We had the 2014 US Figure Skating Nationals in Boston. Without Donna and Max's help, we couldn't have such a great trip and wonderful competitions! They both were so helpful, kind, thoughtful....Because of the unlucky weather (lots of snow) during the stay, we needed their help a lot especially transportations to BCEC. They always helped us willingly. They are amazing people with great service spirits. We can't thank them enough. I really hope to stay here again with my family for the future visits. The location was also great! Donna and Max, thank you soooooo much for the wonderful memory.
Located on a street rated 'one of the 10 best' to live on in Mass, our South Boston unit is 6 blocks from the beach, and 3 blocks from the sight of the first Revolutionary War battle - Dorchester Heights (also the highest natural point in Boston). Surrounded by several of Boston's newest/hottest restaurants and ample shopping, we have a bus stop at the corner of our block, and the BCEC Convention Center within a mile.
