Housed on the third floor of our grand 1890 Victorian home in one of the most prestigious South Boston neighborhoods, we are conveniently located on East Broadway (voted one of Top 10 streets to live on in Boston.com May 2012 - ) with a bus stop literally at the corner of our block. Adjacent to the 'village' area, everything is safely within walking distance including the BCEC, restaurants, the subway (Red line Broadway Stop), grocery/drug stores, parks, Dorchester Heights historical monument, and the beach. This 1,000 square-ft immaculate, spacious 4-room apartment + full bath has its own separate entrance with city/water views, central air, wifi, a sizable eat-in kitchen and access to a basement pool room. The unit is simple, to provide a great value for a clean, comfortable, well-stocked space. The owners who occupy the downstairs make every effort to make the process easy & straightforward from start to finish for all renters. For 8 years now, we've thoroughly enjoyed this labor of love and all the wonderful people we've met.
We host families, tourists, actors, marathoners, and corporate clients - all enjoy our convenient location to downtown, the airport, public transport and Boston's main attractions including the Freedom Trail/Boston Common, Fenway Park, Children's Museum, JFK Library/Museum, Harvard..... all within 2 - 3 miles from here. There is no need to rent a car unless traveling well outside the city limits, although there is free on-street parking. Uniquely, our 2 oldest teenagers are available to babysit.
Finally, on rare occasions we will rent the entire house to parties of 7 or more. Please call the listed phone number for further information.
We were in town for my daughters graduation. Donna was such a wonderful hostess! She met us at check in, helped us with the luggage, gave us a tour of the apartment and was available for any questions or directions during our stay. There were up to 6 of us a few nights and we were very comfortable in the clean, generous space of the third floor Victorian. The beds are so comfortable and the rooms big enough we weren't tripping over each other. The living room has games and movies of all kinds and satellite TV. Large bathroom, plenty of towels and a hair dryer. Separate heating and cooling, yes we used the AC in early May...yay Boston weather! The location of this apt is so convenient. The bus is two doors down and stops about every 10 mins, (there is a real time app you can get on your phone so you don't have to wait) , 1 mile easy walk to the T, a mile and a half to the beach and Fort. Lots of historical sites in south Boston to visit and Donna has a huge binder with lots of info kept in the kitchen. The kitchen was perfect for our needs and we cooked daily. There are great places to eat within walking distance. My favorite in Southy was Lincoln's for an amazing burger. No guilt indulging in your favorite food and beverages when you know you'll work it off climbing the 55 stairs up to the apartment! "Vertical Living" Donna called it. Lol.
The neighborhood was nice, safe, friendly neighbors and shop owners. My kids want to move there, I can't wait to go back! Donna and Max and their daughter couldn't have been nicer! This was such a great choice I'm glad I found it.
This was our first time booking through VRBO, and we were not disappointed! This was a great place to relax as a family with lots of room, a full size kitchen including large table, a TV room with comfy leather couch, and private bedroom for the parents. The owners were friendly and helpful, even storing our luggage for us during the second leg of our journey. Our only regret was not staying longer. Easy walking to bus lines, as well as near great places for shopping and eating in South Boston.
We stayed in this home in Boston for 3 nights and loved every minute. My husband and I plus our 18 month old son organized the trip and met two friends there, and the 5 of us had lots of space and everything we needed to enjoy our first trip to Boston. The location is great with a 'pub on every corner' and a pretty easy walk to transit. The owners were fantastic to deal with and even organized one of their daughter's friends to babysit for our son one evening so the adults could go out to the incredible restaurant Blue Ginger - where I had one of the best meals of my life. They provided a crib, highchair and toys for our son too and it really felt like we were being welcomed into the family. Highly recommend.
My family and I were warmly greeted by Donna, Max and Millie on our arrival to Boston the day before St. Patrick's Day in South Boston. The apartment was warm and cozy and we could not want for anything. Location to public transportation, shopping and restaurants was very convenient. We loved the character and charm of the home, apartment and the neighborhood. Forget cramped and pricey hotels, this is the way to go when visiting Boston!
This was my second stay in this lovely home. As awesome as the property and views are, it is
the owners that make the difference. My daughter and I stayed during a historical blizzard and it was
so nice to have Donna and her husband check to see how we were doing. They also can send you
to the great little places to eat. This is such a great location with a bus stop right there and the train just
up the street a few blocks. The flat is super clean and the views are fantastic. Also, the beds are comfy.
We hope to visit again in the fall. We really love the neighborhood and felt very safe walking at night. This is
a perfect place to explore Boston from and best of all, no car is needed. Stay in this lovely flat; you will not be disappointed!!!!
We stayed here for 3 nights with a family of 5 from Australia. The property is just as described and the owners were delightful and happy to answer all our questions. They gave us great tips about the best chowder and pizzas to eat, which we loved. The apartment is spotless, really homely and in a fantastic location. South Boston is perfect, with great little shops and lots of quaint bars. The bus is right at your doorstep and the train is only a nice walk down the hill. We would highly recommend this property LOCATION! LOCATION!!!
Located on a street rated 'one of the 10 best' to live on in Mass, our South Boston unit is 6 blocks from the beach, and 3 blocks from the sight of the first Revolutionary War battle - Dorchester Heights (also the highest natural point in Boston). Surrounded by several of Boston's newest/hottest restaurants and ample shopping, we have a bus stop at the corner of our block, and the BCEC Convention Center within a mile.
