Suitable Airports:
Besides Alicante (ALC), which is the nearest airport only 50 minutes drive away, Valencia (VLC) is becoming more popular, is a shorter flight, and always takes us 1 hour and 15 minutes by car. Also Murcia (MJV) sometimes has bargain fares but it is a slightly longer flight than to Alicante and it will take perhaps 1 and 1/2 hours to drive to the Villa. Finally, flights to Madrid or Barcelona are a possibility, but they are each about 300 miles (500 kilometres) away - although there are good Motorway links.
Leisure Activities:
Port les Basetes is about 2 kilometres along a nice coastal path from the North end of Calpe's Levante (East) beach; it is also only a 5 minute drive from the Villa. But, more importantly, it is an outstanding centre for water sports - especially diving, fishing, sailing, water skiing and wind surfing - and has an excellent bar/cafe. Tennis is available at the Calpe Club de Tenis at 1 kilometre from the Villa and, if the Villa's own Pool and the sea are not enough, the Tennis Club has its own Pool, and a new public Swimming Pool is nearby. There are also many opportunities for both the lazy and the adventurous walker. Reaching the top of Calpe's rock might be one goal, or walking round or up the Seirra de Olta opposite the Villa is challenging. But just inland is the Montgo National Park which has numerous walking opportunities from the easy to the severe - all with splendid scenery and views. Five Golf Courses are also within a short drive of between 10 and 40 minutes
Golf:
The nearest golf course is Golf Ifach which is off the coast road towards Moraira and takes 10 minutes by car. The next nearest is the notable Don Cayo just before Altea which takes about 15 minutes. The Javea Golf Course can be reached in about 25 minutes, as can the new Course at Benidorm. The internationally renowned Championship Course of La Sella - beyond Gata de Gorgos on the way towards Pego - would take 40 minutes. There are numerous other Courses well within an hour's drive. For example, the 18-hole Course of Oliva Nova is along the Motorway to the north, whilst in a Southerly direction are the 18-hole Course (and Spa) at Bonalba and the 18-hole Course at Alicante.
