Experience luxury and fine cuisine in the real France – only 300m from the Lac de Sanguinet(11 x 10km), which is surrounded by safe sandy beaches, and offers every type of water sport, including fishing. It is possible to swim in the sun-warmed waters (26C in summer) of the lake and experience the ocean (18C in summer) surfing beaches of Biscarrosse Plage, 14km away. The list of sports available is endless: water skiing, parascending, windsurfing, diving, tennis, archery, horse riding, karting, surfing, body-boarding, golf etc. Tuition is available for most. Visit stylish Arcachon and taste the oysters, the Médoc and St Emilion vineyards to taste the wine, and historic Bordeaux, a UNESCO world heritage site. Le Teich Ornithological Park (on a main migration route) is a must for keen birdwatchers. South lies Mimizan Plage, Biarritz, picturesque St. Jean de Luz and just over the border in Spain (under 2 hours) you can visit stylish San Sebastien, the capitol of the Basque country.

The Villa Deniz is a regularly used and much loved holiday home ,built in 2004 by its English owners. This single-storey, luxury detached villa is set within its own private garden measuring 880 square metres, and overlooks the forest at the rear. Situated just 300 metres (a short walk along a wooded forest track) from the nearest swimming lakeside beach on the Lac de Sanguinet and 14km from the ocean surfing beaches at Biscarrosse Plage. The spacious west facing terrace is the ideal spot for a quiet evening drink, whilst watching the sun dip below the forest tree-line. If you are feeling energetic, you can hire a cycle and explore the lake shores on the specially constructed cycle track and discover the many other sandy lake beaches that Sanguinet has to offer. Restaurants, bakery (for that essential early morning fresh croissant), supermarket, post office, chemist, doctor, cycle hire, boat/windsurf hire are all available in Sanguinet village just five minutes walk away.

One hour south of Bordeaux lies this stunning area of fragrant pine forests and sun warmed freshwater lakes. Specially constructed cycle tracks lead you through the forest, over the dunes and around the spectacular lakes. To the north is Arcachon, previously a watering hole for the rich Bordelais and famous for its oysters and turn of the century typically French architecture. An hour’s drive to the north are the famous vineyards of the Médoc or St Émilion, where every village name will remind you of a wine label; whilst historic Bordeaux (a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE), with its newly pedestrianised streets, and magnificent floodlit architecture provides the more cultural attractions. To the south lie the surfing beaches of Mimizan Plage ; Biarritz, with its associations with the 1930's jet set; and picturesque St. Jean de Luz. The second double bedroom, with a wardrobe, is situated at the front of the property and has shutters on the outside, whilst the twin bedded room is at the rear, with a wardrobe and exterior roll-down shutters. All bedrooms have rectangular pillows and duvets. Sheets and towels are not included in the rental price.

Notes: The Villa Deniz is centrally heated, fully double-glazed and insulated throughout. Therefore, the property remains cool in summer and warm in the cooler months - provided the doors and widows remain closed! The lounge occupies the full width of the property and has sliding double glazed doors leading to the rear terrace. The kitchen overlooks the mature rear garden, where there is a ceramic hob, an electric kettle, a toaster, microwave oven, larder size fridge/freezer and a cafetiere. Adjacent to the ktichen and with access to the rear garden is a utility room. This houses the washing machine and all the cleaning materials, which are provided. The garden and the terrace overlook the forest at the rear of the property,where the sun shines all day. Ample English books, puzzles, videos, DVD's etc. are all provided. Although smoking is not permitted in the villa itself, an ashtray is provided for exterior use. The garage provides useful storage for windsurfers and cycles etc.

Local Sports Tuition and Hire Facilities: In Sanguinet it is possible to hire bikes (many different types are available), pedaloes, windsurfers, sailing and motor boats. Tuition is available for windsurfing and sailing on either a daily or a weekly basis. Biscarrosse Plage offers hire and tuition for surfing and body boarding. Sanguinet tennis club welcomes vistors.

Using the Lake: If you wish to take your own sailing/motor boat, a permit to use the lake must be bought at the Mairie beforehand. This is strongly advised, as the lake is policed during the main holiday season. If your engine size is over 9.9hp, then you will also be asked to provide an international boat driving licence.

Other Activities: Situated in a primarily French holiday area, more of less every type of sporting activity is available, from archery to kite surfing and karting.
