A charming 18th century stone house in the heart of Provence

You can't help but fall in love with Le Mas des Anges! An ideal place for 2 families or larger groups, Le Mas des Anges is a beautifully restored Provencal farmhouse in the heart of the Luberon. It has a very large garden, a beautiful pool and the most stunning views across the Luberon mountains. Ideally located amongst the lavender, olive groves and vineyards, and yet only 5 minutes from both the gorgeous hilltop village of Saignon and the charming town of Apt with its famous market and all amenities. The famous villages of Bonnieux, Gordes, Menerbes, and Roussillon are all within 10 to 20 minutes drive. You will be spoilt for choices of places to wine and dine, and for the more active there's lots to do.

The house itself is very spacious and full of charm with original terracotta floors, stone walls, beamed ceilings and very tasteful decoration. The outdoor space is fantastic (lots of shade and lots of sun!) with great views and a choice of al fresco dining (and napping!).

Le Mas des Anges is close to the one of the most beautiful and unspoilt Provence villages, Saignon. It is also 5 minutes drive away from the small market town of Apt, where you'll find all amenities. The house is ideally located for exploring the whole of the Luberon with its famous villages, wine tasting circuits, country walks, but also the more mountainous Alpes de Hautes Provence with the stunning Gorges du Verdon. It is also within an hour's drive of the beautiful towns of Avignon and Aix-en-Provence, and just over an hour from Arles, Saint Remy or Nimes. The beautiful coast and beaches near Marseille are one and a half hour away and the French Riviera is 2 hours away.

Other Activities: Golf is 30 minutes drive away.

  • The bedrooms are split between two main areas of the house linked via the large glazed entrance hall. Both areas have a downstairs and an upstairs. Area 1 has the lounge, kitchen and dining area and shower room with toilet on the ground floor and 2 bedrooms upstairs (bedrooms 1 and 2) and a bathroom. Area 2 has the master suite on the ground floor (bedroom 3, bathroom, dressing room) and two bedrooms upstairs (bedrooms 4 and 5) and a shower room. This makes it perfect for 2 families who want to share a holiday but also have some space of their own. Note however that bedroom 2 is really a single room: it has a pull-out bed to make a double bed if needed, but then the room feels rather small (which is OK for children or for a young couple, but not suitable for more elderly people). We have 2 travel cots and 2 high chairs available.

Notes: The house and garden are perfect for families. Apart from the pool, we have ping pong table, table football, swings, and videos and DVDs indoors (and a Clavinova piano!). There is also tennis and horse riding less than 5 minutes away. Note that the pool doesn't have a shallow and a deep end: it is the same depth throughout (about 160cm, or 5ft4'). This means little ones who can't swim will need floating aids. Careful when diving!

Gorgeous villa in gorgeous location

Thank you for your gorgeous villa! We had a truly fantastic week and were all very sad to leave. Your villa is fabulous. Such a beautiful part of the world and your villa is in such a splendid spot with such fabulous views.

We think you have decorated and keep the villa wonderfully. We have stayed at a number of lovely villas over the years but none have been as comfortable or as welcoming as yours. The welcome gifts were a gorgeous touch and all the little extras in the villa that we werent expecting make all the difference. Just things like ipod docking station, the herbs and spices, oils that are left ( we have been at some villas where the cleaner obviously removes all leftovers so every new guest has to buy these basic items when they arrive which seems a waste) ample crockery, travelcot and highchair, the keyboard, table football, heated pool. It was all wonderful! And we loved the bbq/fire. We had some fantastic evenings sitting outside with the BBQ.

Theres also so much to do in the area... We really should have stayed a month..which we'd have loved to do!

We have had a superb stay at Le Mas des Anges. Everything was just find: the house was beautiful and very clean, the weather was perfect, the swimmingpool lovely refreshing!

A week in Paradise indeed!

We have had a wonderful week in this beautiful house. So comfortable and nicely decorated - love the terrace for eating outside. Loved the secluded garden and pool. Very nice owners and housekeeper too. We have rented many houses in France and this is really is one of the best. Loved the local villages as well.
