El Pinar de San Gines - this already much sought after new development is in the beautiful fishing village of La Azohia, tucked beneath mountains, fronted by lovely villas & enjoying a unique micro-climate & crystal clear waters. With the gently shelving sea & beautiful palm-lined promenade only a five minute stroll away through lovely residential streets, it has become highly regarded in a very short time perhaps equally for its truly stunning location & the safe environment it offers families with children. We have available a spacious ground floor 3 bedroom 2 bathroom bungalow with huge terraces on three sides & the upper 3 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment with huge rooftop solarium both with stunning open views on what must surely be the best position on the development. Come & see this magical unspoiled haven for yourself & sample real Spain at its best.

El Pinar de San Gines: The development is entirely backed by mountains & fronted by lovely mature villas in a quiet location away from any busy roads. It is made up of several phases with our properties being on phase 2. The properties are mainly in just two tiers joined only on corners, with one below & one above, in a convenient apartment-style layout . With beautiful gardens & paths winding in and out the community has the feel of a Spanish village with several people having made it their permanent home. There is a shared pool for use by just 34 properties.

The local area: A 5 minute stroll down quiet residential avenues brings you straight to the seafront in the exclusive San Gines area of La Azohia. The fishing village is still very traditional with a 2 mile long new promenade, lined with palms, which ends at the quaint marina where the fishermen bring in their tuna catches each day. There you can pick up a path to the top of Cabo Tinoso & to the Tower of St Helena, a look out originally built in the 16th century. There are a few restaurants in the village itself, a small shop, a chemist & a bodega (wine cellar), but La Azohia is essentially a place for relaxation by the sea - visited by divers from all over Spain for its crystal clear waters & colourful seabeds. Swimming is safe & there are watersports with showers along the beach & a snack bar. With more extensive facilities & all kinds of attractions readily available at nearby Isla Plana, Mazarron & the historic town of Cartagena, with your quiet haven to return to, you have the best of all worlds.

Travel Arrangements: You will arrange your own flights, airport parking & travel insurance but we will help in any way we can. Flights operating: Flight operators and schedules change so we no longer give detailed information but airlines such as Ryanair, Jet2, Easyjet and Bmi(baby) fly from many UK destinations to this region (Murcia or Alicante). Please note that a new International airport is due to open in 2013 at Corvera, less than 30 minutes drive away - details not out as at February 2013, but keep checking.

When I first drove along the road from Cartagena to Mazarron and glimpsed the sea as it finally winds down through the mountains I fell in love with this beautiful bay. It would be easy to miss the turning to La Azohia and it was only by chance that we visited. And that was it. There was nowhere else I could imagine wanting a holiday home.

The village is everything a traditional Spanish village should be in the way so many aren't any more - a magical mix of stunning beauty, fresh air, peace and friendliness. As evening falls you can often hear the tinkle of bells as a local farmer gathers in his goats from the mountain to the scent of wild herbs and the promise of the most spectacular sunsets for many miles around.

The views from the property are simply breath-taking and you feel yourself unwind in the knowledge that you can step out of your life for a week or perhaps a month leaving any troubles and stresses behind for a while. It is the best tonic ever! There is everything you need close by with a small but well-stocked supermarket and a bread van that comes by the door every day peeping its horn to tempt you with fresh loaves and other delicious treats.

The apartment is very well equiped and has a very nice private area for sunbathing and eating outside. It was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The swimming pool we seemed to have to ourselves and it was the school holidays when we visited. It is a very pleasant stroll to the promanade, sandy beach and a few restaurants. A car is necessary if you want to investigate further a field. Linda is a pleasure to do business with.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for all the great reviews. Those who have stayed at El Mirador have discovered what is a true uniqueness. As a lower property it is surrounded by huge terraces on which guests can spread and has the feel of a house rather than an apartment with a sense of great spaciousness. An awful lot of love has been poured into this property with its beautiful furniture and my own hand made soft furnishings which guests have shown such an appreciation of.

The most unique aspect must be that these benefits are coupled with fabulous open views not often found with a ground floor, which can be enjoyed from the front terrace and the fantastic raised BBQ terrace to the side. This is due to the plot being on the open southerly corner on the front line of the development, with absolutely nothing in front. Guests have not fully appreciated this until actually arriving. This location also means it is the nearest property to the sea and shop, with a short cut going across the hillside immediately adjacent to it with these facilities easily reached by walking within 5 minutes.

El Mirador has especially suited parties with young children and those with grandparents, as there are only a few easy steps which allow very easy access for those with buggies or elderly relatives who may be a little unsteady on their feet.

As we also own the upper property we are in control of who stays above you and you need have no worries of noise from above as we have very strict (but reasonable) rules! We have not had a single complaint.

We hope that the lovely comments from our kind guests will help future ones in making their decision for their holidays.

Our winter break was a very reasonably priced affair .
When booked early the Easy-Jet tickets only came to 109 pounds for
the two of us. Flights from the UK into Murcia (a very quite clean airport ) where we picked up a hire car for the drive to La Azohia.
On arrivel at El Mirador we found the position of the apartment lent
itself to some great views and wonderful sunsets,
The apartment is very well furnished and contains all the items that
one would need to enjoy your stay there. Mazarron we found to be
a good choice for shops and eating out. THE END !

Returned from the apartment a week ago, fantastic views and lived up to everything in the description. La Azohia a lovely sleepy village in October with good restaurants in Isla Plana a short drive away. One of the least spoilt parts of the Spanish coast that we have visited with good walks, great beaches (clean and safe). Would definitely come again.

We stayed at El Mirador with our three little boys last summer and had an absolutely wonderful time. The apartment has just about everything you could ever need - the equipment is more than complete! Even the baby equipment is perfect, you don't have to bring anything from home.

We felt like home right away: the apartment was very clean, Jane (the property manager) was very friendly, a great food package welcomed us (enough for a dinner, a nice drink at night ;-) and a breakfast) and even new mattresses.

The location of the apartment is also very good. Nice view over the ocean, very close to the pool and quietly situated at the corner of the apartment complex.

Overall, we had a great vacation and are definitely planning to come back this year! Thanks Linda!

As I had worked in Murcia many years ago, our daughter booked a trip for a 60th birthday present for ourselves,she and her husband and their 18 month old daughter.
Your apartment worked wonderfully for us especially with the swimming pool being so close. The 2 bathrooms made life with 2 families work practically. We wanted a quiet stay with nightlife close enough to enjoy but not disturb us. Being on the corner was great with a little extra sunbathing space and we used bbq for lovely balmy evenings sitting at the table we were so sorry to leave!
We enjoyed the amble down to the promenade to the local shops and with our hire car we were able to visit Murcia and Mazarron easily.

My husband, teenage daughter and myself have stayed at this accomodation twice. Feb 2008 and March 2007.
We found it a real home from home (but warmer!) and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and well equipped place from which to explore this lovely unspoilt area.
Linda, the owner, has put a lot of thought into making sure that everything necessary is supplied to make your stay perfect.
Jane, the caretaker is very friendly and can answer any questions you might have about the area, but Linda has compiled an excellent travel guide which we found invaluable and hope to use again sometime!

Heading South from the great stretches of beach around the Mar Menor lagoon, the coastline becomes increasingly mountainous with just occasional isolated coves & once south of Cartagena the scenery becomes ever more stunning. About 10 kilometres before the now bustling resort of Puerto Mazarron, with its many facilities, there is a turning off the main road to the beautiful fishing village of La Azohia, at the most easterly point of the Gulf of Mazarron. The mountains finally recede behind a promontory called Cabo Tinoso, giving way again to vast stretches of beach which go all the way to Puerto Mazarron & beyond. The village is in a truly stunning location, considered by many to be the 'jewel' of the Costa Calida, still closely bound by a backdrop of dramatic scenery before the gulf deepens further inland, which not only protects it from easterly winds but, perhaps more importantly, from further development. La Azohia is the ideal place to sample a taste of real Spain at its best!

There is a shaver point, vanity mirror over the basin with shelf & the bathroom is lit by halogen spots. The en-suite, accessed privately from the lockable master bedroom, is again fully tiled having a bath with shower over, loo & basin. It is well lit with halogen spots & has a lighted vanity mirror over the basin with shelf & shaver point. Both have high quality chrome accessories including a safety grab bar by the bath to ensure safety of elderly guests. A baby safety bath mat & lots of storage for towels, toiletries etc are provided. Please note that the water heater supplying the property has been upgraded to 100 litres (double the standard provided) to ensure a good supply of hot water. Both have extractor fans.

  • We consider the comfort of beds one of the most important factors in choosing a holiday home & all beds are of the highest quality with regularly washed quilted mattress covers & good English non-allergenic pillows. The beds in the second bedroom zip to form a large king if required for maximum flexibility & this room benefits from a patio door straight onto the east facing breakfast terrace. Please note the maximum occupancy figure of 7 includes a baby in the cot or an additional guest on a guest bed at our discretion depending on party make-up. We regret we are unable to accommodate 7 adults. All bedrooms are beautifully furnished with hand-made co-ordinating soft furnishings in quality fabrics such as Harlequin & Crowson cotton & linens. There is ample wardrobe & drawer space with lots of hangers provided & a free safe in the master which has uninterrupted sea views.
