This non touristic island, although it has many historical sites, is somehow a refuge for Athenians who prefer live here and go to the city every morning to work. By boat, you are 30 minutes away from Piraeus, the magnificent underground built for the Olympic Games of 2004, will take you to the heart of Athens in 20 minutes. Acropolis and its spectacular shows in the theatre of "Herodes Atticus"; Plaka (the famous flea market of Athens), its taverns and bouzoukia...There is a bus that passes from the house every hour to take you downtown (markets, various shops, super markets, restaurants, clubs) and to the boats. It?s even more comfortable if you rent a car or scooters because Salamina is a big island that hides a lot of treasures of natural beauty.
