'Great get away from it all Vacation'
Our 3 story cabin is nestled on a hillside of forest. The 2nd story contains the main living area with living room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms with King size beds, and 1 bath with a nice deck facing the mountains. It is great fun to sit outside watching the sun rise over the mountains in the morning and watch the shooting stars at night. Our kitchen has lots of counter space, is equipped with a dishwasher and ample cooing utensils and dishes. The utility room, located off the kitchen has a washer and dryer with a back door that lead to the outside barbecue area.
The first story contains an entrance hall and one bedroom with twin futons and 1 bath. This room has its own TV which offers privacy for children or adults.
The 3rd story is one large room with one double bed and 3 twins.
The Mineral Lodge provides a grocery store for milk, bread and other items you may have forgotten. Their restaurant serves excellent meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a full bar for wine or cocktails. There is a small resort in Mill Creek, 6 miles from Mineral which serves good food and real homemade milkshakes. Chester is 30 miles distant with a large grocery store and a bank.
I grew up in Mineral. My family owned and operated the Mineral Lodge from l920 until l980. I am currently retired and living in Red
Bluff after selling Real Estate in Mineral for over 30 years.
Jo Ann Perkins purchased this cabin in 2005
I purchased the cabin so I could use it at times and have it available for others to enjoy the area.
Quiet and peaceful with lovely mountain views, Great climate with afternoon breezes
Lassen Volcanic National Park close by, only 9 miles from the southern entrance. Lassen provides great hiking trails and picnic spots, plus swimming in Summit Lake and a climb to the top of Lassen Peak.
We stayed here over Thanksgiving weekend and despite outside being in the mid 30's and raining, we stayed dry and warm! The location for this place is excellent -- just a short 15 min drive to the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center. The other thing that I liked about this place was that there are a lot of single beds which works well if you're in a large group of single adults. The house has a DVD player and Dish Network connected to a Sony Trinitron TV. The house has a relatively spacious kitchen for everyone to congregate in with decent countertop space.
Having said all that, this place looks and feels quite dated. Our main issue was with the 2 burner stove. Both burners take forever to heat up and the front one can't even heat up a big pot of soup. Other misc issue we had were the lights in the bathrooms kept flickering on/off -- makes you feel like you're in a horror movie. The walls are razor thin and you can hear everything. House seems like it doesn't get enough natural lighting as inside the house there's very little difference between day/night.
My family had a cabin in Mineral since the '50s, but sold it after the grandparents passed. We were looking for a place to reconnect with the area for a family vacation and when I found this place I was sold. Our cabin was on the valley floor, and I always wanted a place on the hill. The views out of the picture windows are fantastic. I slept on the top floor with my two daughters and was afraid it would be too hot with temps in the 90s, but with the window open it was very comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need, and there's a BBQ to grill. There are games and plenty of TV to keep everyone entertained, we made good use of the dart board, and it's clean and quiet. Linens are included which is a major convenience. It's not the most modern rental, but it feels like a home away from home. I can't wait to return.
