Each apt. sleeps 4 (1 bedroom, 1 living room with fire place, kitchen & bath)

Our charming villa was built around 1920 and restored inside in 2006. It is originally divided into three apartments, one per floor, each with its own independent entrance. The two apartments on the upper floors are available for rent. The apartment on the ground floor is kept by the owners of the villa, a young couple (he is Italian and she is American). They spend most of their weekends there and they welcome you while leaving you completely independent. The villa also enjoys sun all day long. The view of the sunset above the lake is beautiful from the large surrounding garden.

Example of day spent in Veleso:: Spend your days sitting outside in the sun on a beautiful terrace surrounded by magnolia trees and pines of your own villa apartment above Lake Como, gazing at the gorgeous lakeside views. You can walk into the traditional village of Veleso, or take nice walks along the Altopiano del Tivano from where the view of the lake is breathtaking. The local market is 3 minutes walking distance from the villa. If you prefer to swim in the lake, you can either drive 8 km or take a bus that will pick & drop you off just in front of the house. Enjoy the town of Nesso, beautiful Bellagio, or take the ferries or water taxis to explore the villages around the lake. Como is famous for the silk and for the 18th century novel I Promessi Sposi. written by Manzoni. If you feel like, from the nearby hills you can reach Switzerland or visit the vibrating Milano.

This lovely apartment is located on the first floor, at the entrance level of the villa. It sleeps four and it is composed of a living room with a double sofa bed, a bedroom with two beautiful antique iron beds, its own kitchen and a bathroom updated to the modern standards. It has a beautiful view of the lake and the garden from the kitchen and a beautiful view of the lake from the bedroom and the living room. You will share the beautiful garden developed along three terraces. The apartment is furnished with characteristic furniture from the beginning of the century and it has a working fire place. Satellite TV is available. The kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, stove, refrigerator, and all utensils. The apartment on this floor has a bathtub. The apartment has its private access to the garden of the villa, with tables, lounge chairs, and the spectacular views of the lake and of the surrounding mountains day and night. It can be rented together with the Green Apartment.

Located on the shore of Lake Como, Veleso is a quiet village between Como and Bellagio at almost 800 meters above sea level. The village enjoys a postcard-perfect view of the lake. The public beach and marina are within easy distance by car or by bus. The village, 3 minutes walking distance, has a restaurant, grocery shops, a pharmacy, and a post office. Como and Bellagio (16 km away) are accessible for day trips. Lugano, in Switzerland (55 km away), is also within driving distance. The nearby village of Nesso includes an ancient church built in 1095, the fishing harbor of Pognana, waterfalls, and the ruins of a medieval castle.

The town of Como is elegant and charming. Here, the Villa Carlotta, an 18th century summer house, and the 14th century duomo should rate high on your itinerary. Popular resorts on Lake Como include Menaggio, Cernobbio, Bellaggio, Onno, Varenna, and Colico. Thanks to easy, enjoyable ferry access, the resorts make excellent day trips from the villa.

We spent wonderful 10 days at "Il Nido". Everyday we loved it even more. Our details:
- perfect weather
- tremendous sunsets from the balcony
- hiking in the "bosco"
- lazy times in the terrace garden
- Bellagio and Como (the facade of the duomo!)
And finally swimming in the lake right in Nesso (spiaggia pubblica).
