In La Floresta itself there are a general store and a good small supermarket, three good local restaurants, including one charming open air rotisserie and a large area of virtually unspoilt countryside, Collserolla National Park, dotted with fine examples of Modernista architecture.
La Floresta is located on a quiet, pine-covered hillside. It was once called 'La Floresta Pearson', after the Canadian engineer who brought mains electricity to Barcelona in 1911, and planned the village. In the 1970s it was Barcelona's hippy haven - legendary 'Fat Freddy's Cat' cartoonist Gilbert Shelton lived here
About the Collserola National Park : The slopes of the Mt. Collserola near Barcelona, incorporate an area of 48.32 square kilometers (slightly less than 30 square miles). It is 124 meters (400 feet) above sea level with a population of 54,623. The municipality includes not only the urban center of Sant Cugat but also the districts of Mira-sol, La Floresta and Las Planes and the district of Valldoreix. The presence of human culture in this area is ancient. Human remains from the Neolithic Period (2000-1500 BC) have been discovered in archaeological findings from the Cave of Torre Negra; and from the Bronze Age (after 1100 BC) in archaeological excavations of Can Fatjo of Aurons.
