This is the romantic perfect city-break studio apartment -- Mediterranean style! Our accommodation offers not only the peace and tranquility of a tree lined street, but also easy and direct access to the life and bustle of Barcelona, Museums, Gaudi buildings and the Ramblas are all on the direct tube line --a train every few min. The apartment is part of a landmark 1927 villa which has been fully restored into a bright and comfortable home by a celebrate writer and journalist. It has been decorated to high standards, creating a light, and spacious atmosphere, with its own private terrace, and private street entrance, with street parking. This charming studio apartment with two double beds (one is a fold out) is only ten min on a safe and clean, quick and easy underground line straight to the heart of Barcelona.
Laze on the terrace, pick up organic goodies from the great little shop, eat 'al fresco' on the terrace or at the organic restaurant downstairs, order in pizza from around the corner and enjoy the village-like atmosphere, with Sunday market and open air concerts. Enviable neighbourhood. Fast Wifi. Lots of books and info, and a big open air swimming pool close by.
Around the apartment: The apartment is a few yards/ 50 meters away from the metro station that in 20 min takes you straight to Las Ramblas, in the center of Barcelona, which is the main promenade that goes from Plaza Catalunya to the harbor. There is a big supermarket in the basement of Corte Ingles of Plaza Catalunya. There is also a food market that you shouldn't miss: Mercat de la Boqueria, on Las Ramblas.
In La Floresta itself there are a general store and a good small supermarket, three good local restaurants, including one charming open air rotisserie and a large area of virtually unspoilt countryside, Collserolla National Park, dotted with fine examples of Modernista architecture.
La Floresta is located on a quiet, pine-covered hillside. It was once called 'La Floresta Pearson', after the Canadian engineer who brought mains electricity to Barcelona in 1911, and planned the village. In the 1970s it was Barcelona's hippy haven - legendary 'Fat Freddy's Cat' cartoonist Gilbert Shelton lived here
About the Collserola National Park : The slopes of the Mt. Collserola near Barcelona, incorporate an area of 48.32 square kilometers (slightly less than 30 square miles). It is 124 meters (400 feet) above sea level with a population of 54,623. The municipality includes not only the urban center of Sant Cugat but also the districts of Mira-sol, La Floresta and Las Planes and the district of Valldoreix. There is a large golf course and great shopping. Much of it is part of the Collserola National Park, the closest to Barcelona, the capital city of Catalunya, a state within Spain, where Catalan is the first language and Spanish the second.
The presence of human culture in this area is ancient. Human remains from the Neolithic Period (2000-1500 BC) have been discovered in archaeological findings from the Cave of Torre Negra; and from the Bronze Age (after 1100 BC) in archaeological excavations of Can Fatjo of Aurons. The presence of Iberian culture is evidenced by remains from VI century BC.

This is the perfect getaway for those who want to enjoy the hustle and bustle of urban Barcelona but also "get away from it all". La floresta has a small village feel and is just a short 15 minute tube ride straight to Plaza Catalunya in the city center. We really enjoyed the best of both worlds, hiking in the forest nearby the apartment and spending afternoons in the city shopping and at the beach. The apartment had everything we needed. Be sure to relax and enjoy a glass of wine on the spacious terrace. We would definitely go back!
This charming spanish villa rental was perfect for our 1 week stay in La Floresta - 20 minutes north of Barcelona. It was perfect to come home from a day in Barcelona to such a nice peaceful place. The apartment is very close to the metro which allows for access to other cities with great ease. The small grocery store provided ample items to sustain cooking at the rental on occassion. To our disappointment - the grill was not available due to fire restricitions . There is not much sitting rooom if you decide to stay in for the day but it stills works! Over all The apartment was clean, well maintained and the rental agent Margo is deliteful and pleasant and provided information to us to enhance our stay! I am so glad we did not choose a hotel! We would recomend this rental to anyone who wants to get a taste of Spain on the neighborhood level !
My boyfriend and I were looking to spend a couple weeks in Spain for our summer holiday, but we couldn't agree on city vs. countryside. He likes the hussle and bussle of cosmopolitan cities and I prefer peace and quiet, for the most part. When we found this lovely house in the outskirts of Barcelona, we thought, "Fabulous, the perfect compromise!"
The house is located just a short, and scenic, train ride away from the center of Barcelona. The only downside is that the trains only run until about midnight mid-week, but we are not really the late night clubbing type, so it was fine for us. On the weekends the trains run later, until around 2am, so there is plenty of time for an after dinner drink :)
The house is nestled in a very lush, old village - you would have no idea you were even in Barcelona! The house has a special energy about it, it's very peaceful and full of history. The garden is well kept and the decor of the interior is done in good taste.
Margot, who manages the rentals, is extremely helpful and hospitable. She is easy to reach if you need anything,
Overall, our experience at this property, and Barcelona in general, was memorable and just what we were looking for. I hope to make it back there again soon! And definitely recommend staying here!
Margot made us very welcome on our arrival although navigating into the area with the car did have its challenges. Use of the train to get into the heart of the city was ideal and we did that every day for the week we stayed. The apartment had everything we needed and there were local shops adjacent. It is an ideal apartment for a couple and a car in Barcelona is definitely not needed.
This sunny, beautifully restored, two double bed studio apartment is situated in the leafy La Floresta area of Barcelona. It is 100 meters from the tube station. And it's eight stops from Plaza Catalunya in the center of Barcelona where all the major underground and bus lines begin -- literally just a few yards away from 'Las Ramblas', Barcelona's most famous street. Taxi access from the airport is less than twenty minutes. In summer is a 5 min stroll to the local pool!
Other Activities: football /basket ball pitch
Golf: There is a great golf course in Sant Cugat which is 2 stops -- and four min--away by metro (Ferrocariles).
