A beautiful apartment, with 3 large bedrooms, large living-room, full kitchen and 2 bathrooms. Furniture and appliances are all to high luxurious standards. The apartment has an indoor swimming pool and sauna (located in the basement)

From the roof terrace you will enjoy a stunning view over the valley, woods and the village of Schonwald. You are right in the heart of the Black Forest - where Germany, France and Switzerland come together. Where else can you experience several cultures, languages, and varying scenery in a 100 mile radius... The little town of Schonwald is a German health resort (Kur-Ort) ; well known for alpine & cross-country skiing in the winter, as well as excellent hiking & mountain biking in the warm summers. The area is also dotted with health spas, saunas and wellness centers. Golf, Horse-back riding, Tennis, etc. all near-by...

About Eddy & Hilde van der List

We are a Dutch family, currently living near London (United Kingdom). We grew up in the Netherlands, in a small village called 'De Lier'. Eddy studied Petroleum Engineering at 'Noorderhaaks' Technical College - and then started working in Indonesia (1989) for Schlumberger. We married in 1991 in the Netherlands, and since then we have lived in Indonesia, Scotland, Denmark, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Texas-USA, Germany, Paris-France, Saudi Arabia, India, and currently in London-UK .

Besides Eddy working, Hilde is happy making our house a home (we tend to move a bit..), active in aerobics & Zumba !!, and studying to become Personal Fitness Trainer. We are having fun...; work hard, play hard, enjoy life, make friends... We like to travel, see the world, and enjoy time off and visit our home in Germany or France

A beautiful place to relax for you and your family. Away from it all, but still close to the action. Enjoy the active outdoors in Summer and Winter, and the old cities of Freiburg (Germany), Strassbourg (France) and Zurich & Basel (Switzerland), with histories dating back to 950 AD.

Day trip opportunities include ; the village of Triberg with the highest waterfall in Germany, Europark (Germany's largest family fun-park), Cuckoo-clock shops, Museums, The wine area of the Upper Rhine Valley / Alsace (and only 2 hrs from the Munich Oktober Fest). Nearby crystal-clear lakes; such as TitiSee, SchluchtSee and BodenSee, Flowerpark Mainau, The source of the river Donau (Danube), Old steam train rides...and many more. A detailed Information Guide will be send to you and awaits you in the Apartment.

This is also a place for good food and drink, including the famous 'Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte' (Black Forest cake), and a vast choice of local beers and wines ; Enjoy our favourite Gasthof Rossle in the valley (10 min drive).

Golf: 9 hole golf course at 10 minutes walk. Many 18 hole golf courses in the area (15-30 minutes drive)

  • Enjoy our spacious apartment that comfortably sleeps 6 persons, with 3 rooms, and a bed for each person; Other rental properties advertise 'sleeps 6', .. but offer a 60 m2 apartment with a single bedroom...with sleeper sofas and folding beds (..)... Not us; we feel that vacation means having your own private bedroom, and not having to share with the kids, the in-laws or grandma..... 'Sleeps 6' at our place means; 120 m3 of living space, including 3 bedrooms, living-dining room, kitchen, hallway, 2 bathrooms, balcony and a roof terrace.

    A damage deposit of € 200 applies; which will be returned to you after your stay.
  • Local Tourist Tax (aka. Konus Guest card); Adult € 2.10 per day - Children €0.90 per day (For kids age 5 and younger no tax applies). Our local care-taker will ensure that you receive the Konus Guest card on arrival; This allows you FREE public transport throughout the Southern Black Forest (bus and train), FREE access to various swimming pools in surrounding villages, FREE ski-lift passes, FREE entrance to musea, and discounts on many other events and attractions.
  • Our Guest come from all corners of the world, and are all very positive about our spacious apartment, the decorations and the inventory. Everything is there to ensure you have your home-away-from-home.

Notes: Amenities: Our 2-level apartment is located in a quiet area, on the edge of the forest, overlooking the Schönwald valley. The apartment is completely furnished, including a fully equipped kitchen, stereo system with CD Player, Satellite TV, DVD. Upstairs there is a flat screen TV + DVD. The kitchen, bathrooms, and furniture are all to high standards. There is a balcony on the East side, and a Roof Terrace on the South side. For small children a high chair and sleeping cot are available. For the children we have toys, games, books and DVDs. You can also use the indoor heated pool + sauna (coins). Full linen is provided for all beds and towels for the bathrooms; all included in the rental price. You will also find a Washer & Dryer in the basement area (coins) for your personal laundry. Fantastic family holiday!

This family holiday was fantastic. The location was superb with fantastic views from the apartment. The pool was warm and great for the kids. The apartment was excellent all round with every facility; so modern and fresh and very spacious. The children's room was a real bonus. We definitely felt spoilt and relaxed.
The village location was great with every facility - shops, restaurant, playground and outdoor lido. The woods behind were great to explore with lovely walks.
Several beautiful lakes and villages are around for day trips with lovely views on the way.
We hope to return sometime!
Recommended for:  Sightseeing, Families with Young Children

Without a doubt this apartment has everything a bunch of (cycling) friends need.
A perfect place to stay with closeby many possibilities to cycle. The house is clean, the beds are good and the kitchen offers many possibilities to cook well. Even books (good ones!), maps and basic stuff to cook/make coffee are available. Thank you!

Wonderful, restful time in the Schonwald apartment

We had a wonderful, restful time in the Schonwald apartment. The view was as beautiful as a postcard. It was very well-furnished -- every detail has been thought of. It was also convenient base to explore the nearby towns of Triberg, Freiburg and Furtwangen. The city of Schonwald really gives one a feeling of being in the Black Forest. Overall, we had a fantastic week!

The apartment met all of our expectations and more

The apartment was excellent. It met all of our expectations and then some. The view was stunning, on the two partly sunny days we had. The information provided before we arrived and supplied in the apartment was very helpful. The location of the apartment was great for day trips not only in the Black Forest area but also for trips to Fance & Switzerland. We must mention Pinocchio's Restaurant in Triberg, as we ate there 5 out of 7 evenings! It was one of the few restaurants we found open all day, 7 days a week. They also had a menu in English and our waiter, Nino, spoke English. This enabled us to try many German dishes we might not have tried otherwise. It should be noted the food was also very hot and delicious!! (RECOMMENDED) Although we had intermittent rain & mist for 5 of our 7 days, we purchased umbrellas (suggest packing one at this time of year) and still managed to enjoy ourselves. This was a good time to do some inside activities such as visiting museums, castles, shopping and etc. We would highly recommend Eddy & Hilde's apartment as a place to stay in the Black Forest!!

Fabulous two week stay in your spacious apartment

We enjoyed a fabulous two week stay in your spacious apartment. With 7 family members traveling together, it provided us with lots of room and the chance to unpack our suitcases for an extended period of time. We especially enjoyed the quaintness of the village where very little English was spoken, a real learning curve for all of us. The village people were so friendly, especially the staff at the Tourist Information center, where we visited often. We would love to return again and will continue to savor our wonderful memories of our Schonwald vacation for years to come. Thank you to Hilde and Eddy!
