Casa delle Damigiane in Apricale, has been completely restored in 2002.Great care has been taken to preserve it's old charm with today's comforts. It consists of a well equiped kitchen, with full size cooker and a good size fridge/freezer. Which makes it a great self-catering property, a perfect spot for a holiday in Liguria. The bedroom is very romantic and has a kingsize double bed. The thick walls keep it nice and cool in the summer. There is a middle room with a daybed that can be used as single bed, a shower room, the living room has a sofa, dining table for 8, satelite TV, a DVD player , and a hifi system. All ceilings are vaulted and the living area and balcony have stunning views over the valley, river, old olive mill, and a beautiful roman bridge. All yours to admire from your breakfast or dinner table. Guests tell me they have never seen so many stars!! Liguria at it's best. The house has central heating, which makes it a cozy hide away of season.

Casa delle Damigiane in Apricale, Liguria, makes, because of it's location, an excellent base to explore both the French and Italian Riviera's.The village is a labyrinth of narrow cobblestone, partly covered streets and steps and is for pedestrians only, except the 3 wheelers used to carry supplies.The piazza is breathtakingly beautiful and in summer one can enjoy dinner in one of the excellent restaurants there, or just relax with a drink and take in the amazing surroundings. There are food and gift shops in the centre and the castle on top of the village hosts excellent art exhibitions like Picasso, Miro.In summer many open air concerts, dance evenings, and performances by theatre groups are organised in Apricale and surrounding villages. There is a swimming pool one can use for a small fee at a nearby camping in Isolabona. On Christmas eve a bonfire is lit in the square and kept going until the 6th of January. A great gathering place, where the locals may get out their guitars.

The area: The nearest beach is only a 15 min. drive away. There are many little restaurants providing delicious food for every budget. The border with the famous Cote d'azur, or French riviera in other words is 15 km's. All in all are lots of towns and villages to visit. San Remo, Monaco, Nice, Cannes, but also Dolceaqua with it's amazing roman bridge once painted by Monet all right at your door step. The mean crops of the area are olive oil, wine and flowers. Rossese di Dolceaqua with it's confusing name, is the local full bodied red, worth a try. There are many great restaurants in Apricale and village around. We will happily point you in the right direction.

Travel : Many of the budget airlines fly into either Nice airport, only 1hr. away, or Genoa, a little further 1 1/2 hrs. drive. Ventimiglia train station is a 15 min. drive. There are a few buses a day running from the station to Apricale. It is not absolutely necessary to hire a car, but we think that you get a lot more out of your visit if you do.

Sports: The mountains and country side around Apricale are completely unspoilt and one can go for wonderful walks, in hills or mountains beyond. There are some mountain streams nearby with rock pools and little waterfalls providing you with a free massage. In winter one can go skiing in Limone, 1 1/1 hrs drive away. Great variety of runs, 25 in total. Equipment can be hired easily. There is a golf course in San Remo, or one can play on the cote d'Azur on one of the many courses.

What can I say about the beautiful village of Apricale and the fantastic Casa delle Damigiane that would do it justice! The charm of this place envelopes you from the moment you arrive. For a small town, the number of high quality restaurants was pleasantly surprising. The position of the appartment allowed us to take full advantage of the terrace, the view and the sun from monring to sundown. Even in March, we were able to enjoy breakfast and drinks on the terrace most days. The place was well equiped and furnashed with great care. The owners were very helpfull and pleasant to work with. We hope to return next year and have recommended it to friends!

A view to die for!

We arrived in Liguria without any preconceptions and were absolutely amazed by our first view of Apricale. The house was beautifully presented and maintained and contained everything we needed for a lovely weeks holiday. The position of the house is excellent being only 2 minutes from the piazza which is the heart of the village. From the little terrace there are south facing views across to Perinaldo.

You can tell how much we enjoyed our holiday, we bought our own house in the village!

Our fifth time in Apricale!

What can I say? We fell in love with this wonderful place many years ago and now we're coming back for the fifth time. The town, the view from the balcony, the people, the square, the view from the balcony, the food, the view and the view from the balcony! PERFECT!

Favorite spot in Italy and perhaps all of Europe

The description and pictures do not do justice to this spendid apt. in one of God's most beautiful locations. We have already asked for reservations for October 09 as going to Europe would be incomplete without again staying in Apricale. The apt. is furnished in excelent taste and comfort. the views are unbelievable from the inner sitting room and balcony. The kitchen is true gem. They have preserved 19th century ambiance while making it quite funcional.
The community is ideal for one that wishes to experience life in an Italian village. Fresh breads available each morning along with fine cheeses and excelent ham. Several good restaurants nearby. Our favorite is in the litttle square only 50 meters or so away. What a fine spot to have wine in the afternoon and watch the children play.
In nerby towns there are other restaurants and excelent meat markets.
If one has outgrown the disco scene and found peace in their hearts could not reccomend any place better to spend a week or so. The hostesses and their spouses are gentile, helpful and charming.
Just loved it. We live in the Caribean and have a splendid place in the mountains but in many ways Apricale is even bettter
