This luxurious, lakefront, dream home is located on the west shore of Lake Almanor (includes a private boat dock and 2 buoys). The spacious 4000 square foot home is loaded with unique architectural features that include seven one-of-a-kind arched trusses that create the home’s large main gable, arched windows, custom wood carvings, trims, and moldings. Each room has a lake view and is beautifully decorated with a Mountain Lodge theme. The living room contains a wall of 20 windows that reach up to the 28 foot high wood ceilings, providing spectacular views of the lake and surrounding mountains.
The Master bedroom (downstairs)has a California King Select Comfort bed, a gas fireplace for ambiance, and French doors opening to the lakeside deck. The Master bath has a large jetted tub, double headed shower, double sinks, and a separate 'throne room.' The other downstairs bedroom has one Queen bed. Upstairs are three more bedrooms- a bedroom with one California King bed, a bedroom with a standard King size bed, and one bedroom with 2 Twin beds. All linens for beds and bathrooms are provided for your convenience. The Family Room has French doors opening to an upstairs balcony overlooking the Great room, and another set of French doors opening to an outside balcony deck.
The 1200 sq. ft. Guest House is separate from the Main House but under the same roof and connected by an intercom and a breezeway. It has a bedroom downstairs with a California King bed, 1 bath, and a loft with 3 twin beds, and 2 twin beds pushed together to make a king bed. It has a full kitchen complete with a dishwasher/microwave/refrigerator/stovetop/oven, its own washer/dryer, and a deck with a picnic table, bar-b-que and adirondack chairs for relaxing. THE GUEST HOUSE WILL NEVER BE RENTED TO ANOTHER GROUP, it is only used as additional space for the party renting the Main house.
Our Home Owner’s Association has a nine-hole golf course, four tennis courts, a basketball court, and a lakefront recreation area (with huge grass area, barbecues, sand beach, and children’s play equipment), all within walking distance of the house, and a boat launch ramp that is just down the road.
Excellent fly, spinning, and troll fishing in the lake and surrounding rivers and streams for trophy-sized rainbow trout and brown trout, as well as land-locked Chinook salmon, smallmouth bass, and largemouth bass.

We moved to Lake Almanor in 1998 and planned to live there forever. In 1999 we bought our lot and began drawing our houseplans, keeping in mind our young children and our aging parents.
While we lived there, we hosted pastors and missionaries in the guest house and were blessed to meet some wonderful people. But things happen, and life changes so in 2006 we found that another opportunity had arisen that took us away from our beloved home. We learned that we could continue our ministry through Hospitality Homes International and open our home to additional guests through VRBO. It has been a wonderful experience and allowed us to meet some beautiful families. We have been a (small) part of 50th and 60th Wedding Anniversary celebrations, family reunions that will be remembered for decades, and adult church/Bible study retreats.
What could be a better use for our home, a home that was built with love and dreams of touching the lives of others?
We first saw Lake Almanor when we were college students at Cal State University, Chico. Years later, we had the opportunity to move from the bay area and Lake Almanor seemed like the perfect place to rear our young children and host pastors and missionaries through Hospitality Homes International. Lake Almanor offers quiet solitude or faster paced outdoor activities. It is awe inspiring to hear the wind through the trees, see snow flakes the size of quarters floating down from the sky, watch a sunset as you fish, or hear the glee in your children's voices as they're pulled on a tube behind the boat. Life is simple in Lake Almanor.
Having the Main House and attached Guest House gives us a flexibility in size and cost to host a variety of groups with different needs. Most of our groups are Family Reunions with multiple generations all seeking to gather for that rare opportunity to slow life down and catch up with one another. WE HAVE LIMITED HANDICAP ACCESSIBILITY. We have found that we are a good fit for professional retreats, as well as Bible Study groups and Book Clubs. For those groups that have double occupancy in the bedrooms they find it much more comfortable to have a super-sized Cal-King bed or King bed than the smaller bed sizes offered by other vacation rental homes in the area.
For our family specifically, we enjoy playing in the snow, snowboarding up at Coppervale Ski hill (outside the town of Westwood on HWY 36), watching the snow fall while sitting next to the warm fire, swimming, on-shore or off shore/trolling/fly fishing, feeling the afternoon breeze off the lake while reading a good book, bar-b-quing, bicycling down the west shore bike path, tying flies at the card table while looking out at the lake, and more recently we purchased a couple of kayaks to take advantage of the calm waters. WE LOVE HAVING A DIFFERENT PACE AND ACTIVITIES- IT'S SO REFRESHING.
