Things to do:
Denia has a choice of beaches for those seeking water sports such as wind surfing, jet biking or sailing. The warm seas are perfect for diving, snorkeling and water skiing. There is go-karting, quad- biking and many other sporting activities available such as golf, football, tennis, bowls etc- you name it and it's never too far away. Apart from the sporting activities there is plenty for the kids to do should they get bored with the swimming pool and beaches. Less than 30 minutes away there are many attractions for all ages including a Safari Park, 'Mundomar' an Animal Water Park, 'Aqualandia' a theme Swimming Park, 'Terra Mitica' a large fun park, boasting some of the largest rides in Europe and 'Terra Natura'an animal theme park.
Places to see:
Using Denia as your base there are plenty of interesting places to visit.To the south is Javea which can be reached by either a short drive over the Montgo Mountain or by glass-bottomed boat. Calpe rock lies further south and is famous for its fishing port where you can watch the boats unload their daily catch before sampling the fresh fish in one of the fine restaurants. Just inland is the beautiful Jalon Valley and beyond this are the wonderful mountains leading to Guadalest one of the most popular tourist sites and a place not to be missed by any visitor.
Festivals:
In March there is a bonfire festival celebrating the arrival of Spring.There are four festivals in June with dancing, open air parties and fancy dress to announce the Summer with songs and fires on the seashore. July celebrates the famous bull festival where there are fun floats and competitions through the streets of Denia with lights, colour and fireworks culminating in the bulls being let loose and ending up in the sea. In August the Moors and Christians festival attracts visitors every year from all over the world.
Golf:
The Costa Blanca has many renowned golf courses with the 18 hole internationally renowned course at La Sella only 20 minutes away and the Seve Balesteros designed course at Oliva only 30 minutes away. There are 9 hole courses at 9 hole courses in Javea, Moiraira and Altea and very good courses at Valencia and Alicante, in particular the famous 18-hole championship links course at El Saler, for those who don’t mind a drive before a round.
