Finca la Hijuela is situated in the hills close to Vejer, in a small village, on a ground of over 7000 m². There are four rental houses on the Finca, all surrounded by very old oak trees, and more than 30 orange-lemon-grapefruit trees. We also grow almonds, guavas, olive and figs (among many others). In the centre of the Finca you find a large pool (10 x 5 m). In this colourful mature garden, you have all privacy wanted. You can finally read that book you wanted for so long. You have nothing to read? Than visit Vejer, Conil, Medina Sidonia, Seville, Cadiz, Tarifa, Gibraltar or any other not so famous villa that is near. Enjoy the most beautiful beaches of the Costa de la Luz with more than 15 km of fine sandy beaches. The nearest beach is about 8 km away. Make a trip to Morocco. Several nice restaurants are nearby. This is the perfect place to make out of your holidays some very special days. This is for all those who like the sound of cowbells in the distance and the smell of jasmine.

La Madreselva is a beautiful old-looking Andalusian house, with large terrace at the entrance, to be comfortable in the shade, and where you have a beautiful view over the garden. It is a light house, providing itself shade from the sun by large trees that surround it. Those who prefer enjoying the full sun, are free to use the rest of the garden together with all the birds, and all other specimen in it. Composed as following: (ground floor only), entrance by terrace to large living room, two seated sofa, TV with satellite and DVD-player, radio-cassette-CD player. A fully equipped kitchen, dining area with two seats, bathroom with shower and toilet, and a royal bedroom, equipped with two individually beds (90 x 200 cm). Each window gives you a spectacular view at the garden, Heating is possible by a propane heater when necessary. Both the Finca itself as the pool are fenced, and you can park near the house. Perfect for who wants to have a natural, quiet, and pleasant house to stay.

Finca la Hijuela is the perfect place to combine disconnecting and doing culture.You can find it all within 100 km.!! Ancient Cadiz, Jerez with bodegas and the horse riding school, Seville with its Moorish architecture and Flamenco Tablaos, Tarifa (the ruines of Baelo Claudio), Trafalgar, as also Vejer, and Medina Sidonia are worth a visit. And when temperature keeps rising, there are excellent beaches nearby. More than 15 km of fine sandy beaches, laying just there to be enjoyed by you. Sometimes you can see Morocco. It is easy to do your shopping, on the local fresh-markets and there are enough (super)markets and shopping malls in Conil (10 min.), Vejer (7 min.), and Chiclana. Several good restaurants are nearby, some in real surprising locations. In summer evenings you can assist to the many local ferias. Do not feel like driving, culture, people? In our garden you can submerge yourself in a cool big salt-water pool, (10 x 5 m) and hear the birds sing. Just take a swim and relax.

Notes: We have furnished La Madreseva in Moorish style, according the tradition here. (colours, blankets, lamps, stones and wood). At the pool there are communal sunbeds, however we feel all the guests should respect the intimacy of the pool. So each house has its own sun chairs at the house. Laundry service for bed linen and towels possible. The washing machine is communal with casa Encina and Azahar. We would recommend this house specially to people that are looking for a nice house besides the high-season, Whenever there is sun in winter/spring/autumn, you will be able to enjoy it staying in La Madreselva.

Nuestra estancia en la finca La Hijuela, concretamente en Madreselva fue maravillosa. El entorno es un placer para vista y oído, es todo tan natural que perece sorpendente poder estar en esa tranquilidad con la diversidad de animales que corretean por el patio y alrededores. La casa tiene todo lo que es necesario y es amplia para dos personas, el porche es un lujo que se aprovecha al máximo.
Los dueños de la finca son muy agradables y están penientes de los problemas o duduas que puedas tener, son muy respetuosos y te ofrecen intimidad absoluta, así que si los quereis saludar no hay ningún problema y si no los veis algún día tampoco pasa nada.
En definitiva, que estamos muy contentos de haber ido a esta finca y haber conocido a sus encantadores dueños. Lo recomendamos a todoas las personas que les guste estar rodeados de naturaleza, tranquilidad y buena gente.

Perfect holidays

We spent a wonderful week at Casa Hijuela! It's a lovely place where you can enjoy nature and of course the several animals! Our house was big enough for the two of us and sitting outside in the evenings is really fantastic. It's near by the sea and you cn reach easily other villages and places. We'd love to come again one day.

The place to be!

We have had a wonderful time in casa Madreselva and we certainly can recommend this house on the beautiful finca!
The garden, swimmingpool, animals and of course not to forget the very friendly owners made our holiday unforgetable.
It is a perfect place to make excursions to Cádiz, Jerez de la frontera, Seville etc. And do not forget to visit the marvellous little white town: Vejer de la Frontera (at 6 km. from the Finca Hijuela). Here you can find anything you need!!
We go back soon.

A charming and beautiful place to stay!

My husband and I stayed for one week in Madreselva as part of our honeymoon.

Overall, we had a great time and were very pleased with the house and Carin and Carlos' property. The greenery is astonishingly beautiful and well-kept, and Carin was a warm, friendly and accommodating host. We really enjoyed getting to know all of the animals -- dogs, cats, chickens, goats, even the wandering guinea fowl! The house itself is well-equipped (though it is worth noting there is no oven), and impeccably clean. The pool is lovely and there is plenty of space for children to play without disturbing guests like us looking for quiet.

We would advise other travelers considering this property to bring detailed maps of the area -- we had some trouble finding the house itself and local supermarkets, etc. And of course, if you don't like animals, this place is not for you!

Our only complaint (aside from the rooster crowing at 4 am, which we got used to) was the poor quality of the beds. They were extremely uncomfortable. If it were not for the beds, we'd definitely rate the house as "excellent".

Nonetheless, we recommend Finca la Hijuela for vacationers looking to get away from it all.

pd the beds (90x190mtrs) are new, maybe therefor less flexible as you could be used to. we have not heard remarks before about them, so i think it is more a personal question than a failure of the beds..

our vacation in Finca la Hijuela (La Muela)

Me and my 19 y/old daughter both agreed that this was one of our best vacations ever. We totally adored the place, our little rented house with the beautiful garden, the freedom to travel in the surrounding area, the peace and quiet of the property, and beauty of the region, and everything else: the food, the beaches, the people, especially our lovely hosts. Even all the animals that live on the property, including roosters and goats, only pleasantly contributed to the sounds and overall atmosphere. we got used pretty doon to the roosters calling out in the morning, and felt that we'll miss these sounds at home in Canada. The house was exceptionally clean and beutiful inside, as well as very comfortable for living.
Owner's Response: Once again we, as owners and hosts on the finca, did really feel that you were guests and not clients.
It gives us a very nice feeling to see that people recouver completly during their stay here....thank you very much!!
