Overview

Going am Wilden Kaiser Chalet Rental Photos and Description

2 double, 1 twin, fantastic 2nd floor quad, 2 bathrooms, sauna, sleeps 10/12

Half timber traditional Tirolean family house, in a beautiful setting just a very short stroll from the village centre (1 minute!) and the ski lifts (5 minutes max in boots!). There is a lovely garden, great views and a very warm atmosphere.

The house has been the subject of sympathetic restoration and ongoing renovation programme over the last few years. In 2009 we built a new beautiful luxury family bathroom upstairs, and installed a SAUNA and a ski drying/store room.

The One Bedroom Garden Flat sleeps up to 5 people, was totally refurbished in 2005 and is appointed to a very high standard with wooden floors, modern kitchen, luxury bathroom with underfloor heating.

For a full description and photos/floor plans, etc. as well as information about the area in summer and winter, please check out our website on www.dorf30.com

Winter - Skiing: The house is just a short stroll from the first lift of the Ski Welt system - about 100 lifts and 250km skiing. It is literally across the road and past the small local car park. For most of the season you can ski right back to the house.

Why Joe Robinson chose Going am Wilden Kaiser

I first visited Austria in 1982 and fell in love with the country. I discovered Going in 1989, specifically visiting this very property, as it was owned by the family of my oldest school friend (who still lives in the village and helps out when needed). I have always loved the house and the unique and calm atmosphere. I had the opportunity to buy it in 2000 and have spent the time since gradually renovating and improving it. This is our family's true home, we just can't live here because work and education keeps us all in England. We really hope that you enjoy being at 'Dorf30' as much as we do.

What makes this chalet unique

I think that this is the most perfect location in the Tyrollean alps! Walk out of the front door in summer and you have a million miles of perfect walks and bike rides, whilst in winter you have 250kms of fabulous skiing that starts just across the road. The best restaurants in the area are a 2 minute walk away and the village is beautiful, unspoilt and very traditional - and likely to stay so as there is such a strong community spirit here that keeps Going special. Right behind the house there are the most incredibly beautiful mountains anywhere - the Wilder Kaiser range is just breathtaking.

Our 3rd stay at Dorf30

  • 5 of 5

What shall i say. Coming to Dorf30 feels like coming to your own home in the mountains. Well equipped for everybodies needs, cosy, clean and well maintained. We were 5 adults and 6 children. By coincidence the owners son Nat took care of our daughter Clara at the superb Skischool Schwaiger. Hope she wasnt to cheeky. The skiing area is great and the Access just a 5 minutes walk away. On the other side of the village also just 5min away you'll find also the access to the perfectly prepared back-country-slopes directly beneath the breathtaking massif of the "Wilder Kaiser". Last not least the great cuisine at the Lanzenhof. Food and wine worth every €-cent. Only conclusion to be made: we'll be back.

Large chalet good for families

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely couple of weeks staying in the house during August. We were two families with children and a set of grandparents stayed in the garden flat. If the weather had been better we would have made use of the garden with its summerhouse and facilities for children. The garden flat in particular has a lovely lounge area with log burner which we used most nights (despite it being a summer holiday). It would be great if the main lounge had a burner too! Both kitchens were fully equipped with cooking equipment etc and enough crockery etc. The bedrooms had comfortable beds and were spacious with a great attic area for the children. Parking is very easy outside and it was very useful having a garage area to store our bikes. Lovely small village with a friendly tourist information office on the doorstep. We had a lovely day at the local lake which is superb for children of all ages.

Ski week in Going

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this chalet in December 2012 for a week of skiing. The location is excellent (within walking distance to the ski lifts, grocery store, etc.). We were very happy with the house, which had plenty of room for my family and another family (12 people in all). We plan to return to Going and to rent this house again next year.

What an AMAZING place

  • 5 of 5

Never having been to Austria in the summer and slightly wary because the forecast wasn't great, we arrived in Going to a fabulous chalet. Clean as a whistle and well equipped. Joe had given me great information prior to our arrival so we knew what to expect re towels, provisions, equipment etc.

Austria in the summer is a definite find, we cycled, went paragliding, walked, canyoning, all courtesy of the brilliant Kaiser guides, Marcus, Roman and Helmut. We ate, drank and laughed! The weather was hot during the day with tremendous thunder storms in the evening, so pack a bikini and a cagoul. The lakes are fantastic and the views to die for. Thanks Joe and Fran for sharing your beautiful home with us and i can't wait to visit again. I can't recommend this chalet enough it is everything we hoped.

Ps if you like your food the Austrians serve fantastically huge portions!!!!

We had a fantastic time at this beautiful place in Going . All is well organised at arrival, very clean, the welcome pack was very helpful to feel comfortable and “like being home” from the very first minute, especially to fully equipped kitchen with the provisions helped to enjoy the place from the beginning. An orginal Tyrolian house with all modern amenties that makes a vacation a relaxing one. Very good customer service starting with good communication and detaile welcome pack with useful things to know. Definetly recomend this place.

Car: recommended

Going is a beautiful and unspoilt village, nestled underneath a breathtaking mountain range - the Wilden Kaiser. It is a peaceful, picturesque and tranquil village with a few bars and some very good restaurants. Nearby Ellmau provides the party atmosphere if required and Kitzbuhel and St Johann are just a 10 minute drive away.

Golf: There are at least 14 golf courses within 1 hours drive of the house. The nearest is in Ellmau, which includes a driving range, walkable from the house or a 2 minute drive.

Ski: Ski Welt is Austria's largest inter-linked ski area, which includes Going, Ellmau, Soll, Itter, Westendorf & Brixen. Over 250km of skiing and 100 lifts. Most of the area is well served by cannon for artificial snow coverage and it all starts right across the road from our house! You would be hard pressed to find a better ski house location in this area.

Serious ski-safari folk can also get a lift pass to include the whole Kitzbuhel ski region as well, accessible by car, bus or interlinked ski-lift.
