Location: Sicily < Italy
Marzamemi is situated on the extreme point of Sicily, called Capo Passero, just in front of Africa. It is a little fischmen village that developed around a tonnara (place for tunafish) of the Arab period and has become today one of the best known tourist place of south eastern Sicily. It has a little old historical centre and nearby beautiful beaches. From it one can visit very interesting baroc towns as Noto, Ragusa, Modica, Ispica, Scicili and, 45 min. far away, the town of Siracusa, one of the most beautiful of Italy, with its archaeological greek ruins. In the greek theatre of Siracusa, in June, take place performances.
6 kilometres far from the house there is the fascinating Natural Reserve of Vendicari, with its long white sand beach and lakes where one can do also bird-watching. About 20 minutes from our house, recently have been discovered the ruins of a roman villa, the villa of Tellaro, with well preserved mosaics.
