This two bedroom (queen beds), two bath 750 sq. ft. cabin is nestled in a private wooded area on scenic grove river ranch, a 153 acre equestrian center and retreat in Banks County near Gainesville and Commerce (northeast Georgia mountain area). The outside of the cabin features three decks, hot tub, fishing pond, river shoals, bonfire area, access to hiking and horse trails. The inside is fully stocked with linens, cookware, small appliances, washer/dryer, central heat/air, gas fireplace, satellite TV with DVD and VHS players. Large variety of area attractions. Weekly rates available. Stabling and riding instruction available. Contact CJ to receive a rate sheet.
A resident of Georgia since 1980, my husband and I built this facility in 2005 to expand my horse business and develop a hunting preserve. The cabin was originally put on the master plan and constructed to house equestrian guests visiting the ranch to attend a clinic or a riding vacation. For a better return on the investment, I opened the cabin to non-equestrian visitors.
CJ Farmer, Owner/Manager purchased this cabin in 2005
I performed volunteer work on a trail system partially located in Banks County for the US Forest Service and could not help but notice how scenic the area was. The rural atmosphere, coupled with a very low crime rate, no traffic issues, yet close to shopping and other necessities made it an appealing choice for personal and business reasons.
The many noisy shoals and scenic beauty of the river/creek was one of the most appealing features of the property. Once the center of the property was cleared for pasture and construction of the equestrian center, it revealed a beautiful 180 degree ridge view with stunning sunsets. Being able to enjoy the mountainous terrain, the appearance of being in the middle of nowhere, and yet only 10 minutes away 'modern civilization' via three four-lane highways is a huge plus.
Even though we had an ice storm the days we were there, we still were amazed at the beauty and tranquility of the cabin. I'd highly recommend to anyone who wants to get away and relax! A pond in the front, a stream in the back, and a screened in hot tub on the deck! What more could you ask?!
My wife and I for the most part enjoyed our stay at the Cabin. It was clean and nice and quiet. The Cabin was laid out very well with plenty of space. We walked around the area and could see lots of deer tracks on the trails.
We would have enjoyed it more but the gas fireplace had no gas. We reported it to CJ and Tim on Saturday but they did not get us any gas until Wednesday night – so we only had 2 nights with a fireplace, 7 would have been better. We also had to give CJ a sixty dollar deposit for a two dollar key so we could lock up when we went out. We did get the money back but $60 dollars (really CJ?) We also did not have any wi-fi even though it was advertised to have Wi-fi on the premises. (1500 feet away from the cabin is not on the premises CJ.) I tried on the porch in 40 degree weather and still no reception. The oven had not been cleaned in weeks – good thing my wife had all the meals prepared. I would stay here again if it had Wi-fi in the Cabin and not in CJ's house. I had to drive to Panera Bread to use the Internet. It was important to stay in touch with my Company.
I truly enjoyed staying in the cabin at Grove River Ranch. Comfortable beds and living room furniture, large bathrooms with plenty of clean towels. We enjoyed the view of the river from the porches too. I only wish we could have stayed longer. Great place!
Beautifully decorated cabin with top of the line conveniences. The cabin is nestled in the woods overlooking the pond and beautiful rolling pastures. We had a lovely girls weekend with our horses. CJ had everything ready for us, and was extremely friendly. It was a dream vacation come true! Plan on going back in April to enjoy the woods in the spring.
We came up and rented the cabin and brought my horse for my birthday weekend. It was a wonderful time and went by too fast. The cabin is so cute and cozy and we loved it. Enjoyed the hot tub .We loved the scenery around us and would highly recommend it to anyone.
WOW! boy did I score points with the Wife ! every thing I showed the wife before we got there was like seeing the cake before tasting it ! It was the best ! plenty of everything for your mind to take in but I was too busy cashing in on my points. Cj and her hubby are very welcoming but wished we could have gotten to spend more time there and with them . maybe next year when we go horse back riding. cj thanks ,Your living our dream. Thanks, The New Yorkers. PS. hope your ankle is doing Well.
