We love people and love traveling with our friends and family. And, we love our privacy! The compound was built around the concept of friends, family, privacy, comfort with a heaping tablespoon of 'beachfront barefoot elegance'.
Debbie purchased this estate in 1999
We chose this village of Troncones to build our dream.
This village of approx. 500 people is like no where we have travelled. Imagine walking to the tienda one morning for milk and the local woman that cooked you dinner on your private terrace over looking the beach the night before stop with a big smile to see if you need a ride. Or her uncle that owns the restaurant where you are headed to lunch later pips his horn with a smile and waves as he passes.
Our location is perfect. We are with easy walking distance of everything on the beach and in the village, but away from the south, more commercial end. Go much past us north (towards Manzanillo Bay) and you really need to rent a car. There are few restaurant choices and no tiendas.
That is who we are as a village and that is who our 'family' is that is our staff.
Private beach palapas, open air kitchen/living/dining room, enclosed master bedroom suites w/ a/c option.
The beach. On the beach under your private beach palapa. The gardens are tropically, magnificently beautiful. Imagine coming back to your own private paradise.......about 80% of our high season guests do!
We spent a fantastic week in August 2011 with another family here. Between the two groups we had 7 kids ages 7 to 14. It was heaven for them, and great for us since it was a true vacation as they spent all day either on the beach, in the pool, in the waves or at Mi Casa Su Casa having chocolate milkshakes.
Do not be fooled by these high-concept, high-style places that look so beautiful on line but must be very difficult to enjoy during the summer months. The AC here was a godsend--so nice to be able to turn it on before bedtime and have a blissful, cool, dark night sleep. The windows are tinted so that its' heavenly dark in the bedroom. If you like the sound of the waves and the open air, then just don't use the AC option ($10/day). You hear marvelous crashing sounds as the sea is directly in front of the house. The views from the open-air living space are so lovely.
Another huge plus--the pool size. We rented the top two mini-suites, which I prefer to the main house. Our pool was enormous and deep and for the week we were there, totally private. Our friends had the main house so we were able to walk back and forth through the garden and around the yoga platform to hang out in their space, and and vice versa. It was the perfect set up for friends because you're essentially in the same spot, but you have a place to get away if you need to, or wake up eawrlier and have your coffee without fear of waking up the whole party. The mini-suites felt airier to me and for our family of five were exactly the right size. The kids shared the one downstairs and we stayed upstairs.
The location is another huge bonus. Walking distance to absolutely everything, and on one of the best stretches of beach. Troncones is very rocky, which just adds to its beauty and other-worldly feeling, so you can't get in and swim just anywhere. But just a few yards down from the gate leading to the beach is a flat, rock-free stretch where the kids could body surf all day.
In short we had a marvelous vacation and would come back in a heartbeat. My husband, who doesn't really like the beach, declared this his best beach vacation ever.
Debbie is very easy to work with and her staff on site are very helpful.
October 2009: We held our wedding on the beach in front Casa de la Sirena and cannot speak highly enough of this paradise. The only thing separating the front door and the beach is your private pool; of which there are two! Our wedding party and their spouses all stayed here for five days. There were 16 of us and as we swam, drank, ate, relaxed, drank, ate, swam and relaxed some more, we never felt crowded and had everything we needed. Our ceremoney and reception had 41 guests on the property and still had room to dance and party the night away. Don't expect Ixtapa, or even Zihuatanejo, in terms of services, but that's why we chose this place. While there aren't many restaurants, the one there are incredible in what they do offer. Some are small, charming and kitchy, while others extravagant. The staff did everything we asked them to do; make a beer/ice run, help set up/clean up for the wedding, even made us a "welcome dinner" our first night.
Other than those attending our wedding, I only saw three people on the beach I didn't know. Sunsets are unbelievable. On occasion, a local would stop buy to show us his silver or her bead work--there was even a guy with a couple horses who came by offering horse rides on the beach. And don't forget the sea turtles that lay their eggs on the beach. Every morning we found nests. Even more amazing is that the locals gather the eggs to protect and incubate them, allowing them to hatch in safety and release them, hoping for a slight increase in the chance of their survival.
The flowering gardens are lush, with a yoga/exercise platform. There is a covered outdoor BBQ closer to the private villa, which has it's own private pool. The larger pool has a swim up bar and another wet bar with BBQ and outdoor shower and bathroom. Every unit has an open air kitchen/living area that will blow your mind. The owners didn't overlook one single item when planning this villa. It made our week unforgetable. You will fall in love and you will plan trips to return.
