Surfing and body boarding / tennis:
The beaches around Vale da Telha offer some of the best surfing conditions in Europe with pristine waters and waves for all levels of surfers. The local beaches of Arrifana and Monte Clerigo are popular surf spots but within 20 kms there are numerous other beaches such as Amoreira, Amado and Carrapateira.
There is plenty of space in the garage to safely store surf equipment. There is also a surf school in nearby Aljezur where you can hire equipment and take lessons with qualified teachers from 40 euros a day.
TENNIS:
Within 5 minutes from the villa, there are hardcourt tennis courts to use at your leisure (subject to a small fee).
Here you can make the most of the warm climate and good light until evening to enjoy a game of tennis.
Tennis equipment (2 rackets and balls) are provided at no extra cost.

WALKING ROUTES:
Being so close to the coast, Vale da Telha has many options for walkers with an ideal climate, few cars and a Natural Park where many routes go through natural heatherland and unique vegetation, giving great views over the Atlantic.
CYCLING / MOUNTAIN BIKING:
There are 2 mountain bikes available in the house to use at your leisure.
You could choose to pop to the shop, bar, tennis courts or beach which are within easy cycling distance. For the more adventurous, there are a vast number of off-road tracks to explore around the Nature Reserve, most of which offer spectacular views of the coastline.
HORSE RIDING:
A Horse riding centre is available nearby in Vale da Telha which can cater for all types of abilities.
OTHER OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES:
Adventure seekers should head for the Monchique Hills (just 30kms east of Aljezur) where a well-established company runs canoeing trips, mountain biking, rock climbing and guided walking tours for all interests and abilities.
Places to visit:
MONCHIQUE (highest point in Algarve, mountain village and spa):
A great day trip, within easy reach of Aljezur, is a visit to the Monchique Hills which is a unique, forested area sitting on top of the Algarve at 900 metres altitude. Here, you can find an historic spa town founded by the Romans and be refreshed and reinvigorated by the cool mountain air.
ODECEIXE (rural village with beautiful beaches):
Exploring the coast just north of Aljezur is the small village of Odeceixe which has a lovely long unspoilt beach as well as a river beach, ideal for families, picnics and exploring the river bank .
The area is calm and family oriented with facilities for visitors.
SAGRES(Algarve’s most westerly point):
Under an hours drive from Aljezur, visitors come here to admire the wild, unspoilt coastline of this unpopulated region. St Vincent’s Cape is the most westerly point of the Algarve and is marked by a lighthouse and a maritime musuem in the old fort.
Golf:
The nearest golf course is just 35 minutes drive from Aljezur.
Near Lagos, PARQUE DA FLORESTA is a world-class, 18 hole par 71 golf course set in the beautiful rolling countryside that borders the Costa Vicentina Natural Park. Green fees start from 50 euros for 9 holes.
With views over the fishing village and plenty of eucalyptus, olive, palm and pine trees, the course is recognized as one of Europe’s most picturesque. At the Golf Academy, there are practice facilities and the opportunity to take lessons on the Driving Range and Putting Green.
Non-golfers can also enjoy the health & beauty spa, sports and leisure facilities or relax at the restaurant and bar.
PALAMARES GOLF COURSE is also an 18-hole, par 71 golf course situated on the Lagos coastline. Five holes are situated on sand-dunes along the Meia Praia beach with stunning views over the Atlantic coastline. The club also has all the facilities expected for a world renowned Golf course. Green fees start at 34 euros for 9 holes in the low season, 51 euros in the high season.
