When buying our home we knew we wanted to create a groovy retro pad that
was indicative of a time when Palm Springs brightness cast legendary shadows. We
didn't want just a place for our guest to stay...we wanted to evoke an epoch of
charisma, talent, and scandalous excesses in the desert.
To us The Atomic Lair was an opportunity to salvage 'a Hollywood starlet with
great bones - she may have been a bit wrinkled but she was still beautiful
underneath.' Thus, outside and in, we lovingly returned her to her Rat Pack
The Atomic Lair to us is an addictive passion...a continual work of art in
progress. Chances are if a guest stays once, they'll find dazzling improvements
when they return.

When I was 7 years old in 1968 my second grade teacher said, ' When you're my age you will live on the moon and have a flying car'. This neighborhood is the closest I'll ever come to that in my lifetime. We've never been in or lived in a better neighborhood in our lives. Every neighbor is extremely creative and talented in one way or another. Take a minute to say hello and not only will you have a groovy friend for life, but you will be embraced by all. True 1950's hospitality with a 2015 twist. When our family visits, they tend to want to spend more time with our neighbors than us.
Extra large private backyard with breathtaking views of the mountains and evening stars. Romantic and/or fun! You take your pick.
"This house is absolutely perfect for a nice getaway. The house is spacious and comfortable and the yard and pool are fantastic. We had such a fabulous time spending our holiday at this home. "
James and Odessa were wonderful hosts--greeting us upon arrival. We hoped for a peaceful fun getaway and that's exactly what we got. The pool was lovely--as were the accommodations. We enjoyed every minute!
"When I'm not killing zombies on The Walking Dead or chasing Johnny
Depp in The Lone Ranger, I like to cool my jets at the Atomic Lair in
This is a super cool house to say the least. There's the Bond room, Tonga room, and the Rumba room all themed out and fun to stay in. The backyard has an awesome view of the mountains which we enjoyed from poolside and at the over the top outdoor bar.
I like to cook and was surprised to find that a lot of what I needed was waiting for me in the granite counter top kitchen and there was even a BBQ/smoker in the backyard.
If you are looking for a fun and unique place to stay in Palm Springs then the Atomic Lair is where you want to go.
The Atomic Lair is one of a kind. The moment we stepped through the door, we realized we had found somewhere special. It feels very “Retro Palm Springs”. There is original artwork, mood lighting, and all the accoutrements that make for a perfect vacation.
Our favorite part was the outdoor bar and seating. There is an amazing view and we were able to totally decompress and relax. Our kids loved exploring around the citrus trees and playing games in the vintage trailer.
There is plenty of room for 6 to stay. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen stocked with everything we needed for some home cookin’, and it was very close to the downtown restaurants.
The area is one of Palm Spring’s best, wonderful architecture, quiet neighborhood, and lots of room. This is a truly an amazing place.
This venue promises to be very popular so grab it while you can. We loved our stay and will be coming back!
Because I'm involved in the music business, I've been lucky enough to travel the world and stay in some pretty amazing places. I've learned that the concept of "cool" has always been an abstract; it's the holy grail sought after by many and achieved by few. What is undeniable though is everyone recognizes cool when they experience it…and experience I did when my girlfriend and I checked in at The Atomic Lair. The interior just oozes 1960's sex appeal. The vibe which, let's face it, is what it's all about... is a combination of Steve McQueen in Bullitt, Pussy Galore in Goldfinger and Dean Martin as Matt Helm all sound-tracked to the music of John Barry. The Atomic Lair is THE place to chill and be cool in the desert heat of Palm Springs.
