Santa Lucia Coffee Estates is especially well located to make day-trips to many of the attractions and special places in Costa Rica. For example, you can get up, have a leisurely breakfast, drive to the Caribbean beaches by noon, enjoy the ocean all afternoon, eat a nice meal in the evening at a funky restaurant, and be home by 10 or 11. Next day, hang out at the house around the pool and then in the evening go to opera in San Jose!
And if you are game, you can try your hand at picking coffee during harvest, October through January!

Orosi Valley. Santa Lucia Coffee Estates (private, secluded, quiet, secure, within walking distance of near-by town) is located in 'paradise' (tropical mountains, 75 degrees F, few flying insects) as the name of the nearby town Paraiso suggests. 1 hour from San Jose (shopping malls, theatre, golfing, restaurants, night life, casinos, museums) and the airport. 2.5 hours from the beaches (Caribbean/Pacific.) Close-by are water-rafting, trout fishing, volcanoes, Orosi Valley, hot springs, a river/large lake, cloud forests, unique restaurants (fresh trout/local dishes), small villages with open markets, Ujarras ruins, Lankaster Gardens, a Wal-Mart type store, movie theatres, coffee plantations, espresso shops, spas, and best of all, wonderful local people. For a nominal fee we can greet you at the airport and assist you in arriving at the home. Close by in San Jose (30 to 40 minutes during non-rush hour) are TerraMall, a major modern shopping mall with all major name-brands available.
Golf:
There are golf courses associated with up-scale hotels in San Jose and on the Pacific Coast near Jaco.
