Ideally placed in a quiet residential area within comfortable walking distance to Playa Blanca's beaches, marina and nightlife, 56 Iris is a 2 storey luxury duplex town house completed early 2006. With a bedroom and bathroom on each level, the property is furnished and equipped to make you feel at home. Wi Fi throughout. Bedrooms have large fitted wardrobes & ceiling fans, whilst the kitchen has everything you need including dishwasher, microwave, oven, grill, toaster, kettle etc. To the front, there is a part shaded terrace & balcony overlooking the large communal pool with views to the sea. There is an add'l balcony & an enclosed drying area with washing machine. Sunbeds and terrace furniture are provided as is a portable heater, large fan and safe for peace of mind. An excellent supermarket/cafe/car hire/taxi rank and the impressive Iberostar Hotel are close by, the latter with excellent restaurant/bars/entertainment available to visitors of Iris.

Eating Out: There are plenty of excellent restaurants in Playa Blanca offering something for all tastes. Several have recently opened at the close by Marina, which is a great place to dine out after sampling a relaxing cocktail at the trendy Cafe Del Mar. Alternatively, stroll into town where restaurants and bars line the pedestrianised sea front promenade. We have compiled a restaurant review for all our guests to help you decide where to eat.

On your doorstep you also have the 4 star Iberostar Papagayo Hotel which has a buffet style restaurant available to outside clients, where you can eat and drink as much as you like for 19 euros, with children under 12 at half price.

Following your evening meal why not try a quiet drink or even sample the entertainment at one of the other nearby 4 and 5 star hotels.

House Keeping: Sufficient towels are provided and bed linen is changed weekly. There is a washing machine and enclosed outdoor drying area available for guest use. For bookings of 2 weeks or longer a mini clean is available on request at a small extra charge. Guests should bring their own beach towels. A safe is provided at no extra cost.

What To Do: Lanzarote has so much to offer as further detailed in our guest manual.

Within Playa Blanca why not try diving via one of the schools in the resort, water sports as found at the Dorada Beech or for those really energetic the squash or tennis available at the Iberostar Hotel. Bike hire, crazy golf and pitch and putt etc are also available locally, along with boat trips and sailing opportunities via the marina and main harbour.

Sight seeing trips are run from outlets within Playa Blanca but driving is so easy and the island relatively small at 60 x 21km, so why not hire a car and see the capital Arrecife and the other resorts including Puerto Calero, where you can have a trip in a submarine. There's also the volcanoes, markets and caves or get off the beaten track and explore the wonderful fishing villages and small mountain towns.

Fuerteventura is only a very short ferry ride away, although if taking a car please check the insurance first as not always covered.

BEST KEPT A SECRET AS ITS SO GOOD

We have just returned from a wonderful relaxing and peaceful 2 week stay in this lovely house. The apartment was a delight! Very clean & well maintained as was the complex too. Looked even better than in the photos! This apartment has a corner plot allowing it more space surrounding it when compared to the other apartments. There's a spacious outside eating area, sunbathing area with loungers & a lovely little balcony on the first floor with a sea view where you can enjoy an evening drink watching the sun set.
Lots of effort has been put into this apartment and there was everything we could possibly need for our comfort including a dishwasher & washing machine (essential when you've got kids).

Gary was a pleasure to deal with. Genuinely enthusiastic about the apartment and island of Lanzarote which was what impressed me the most from the outset. Very reliable, quick to reply to my emails and gave me lots of info before we flew out. Lots of info in the apartment was also provided to help us with ideas on places to eat & local tourist attractions. He was also flexible when our flight times were changed twice which is so helpful when booking things separately rather than a package.

We really enjoyed exploring the Playa Blanca area and walked along the well paved footpath alongside the sea to the Marina, Playa Dorada & Playa Blanca town. Absolutely must recommend La Taberna for tapas at Marina Rubicon (ate there 3x) and also Mollie's Irish Bar at Playa Dorada (for friendliness, good value food, and a top view of the sea). We cooked in a few times and found Gary's kitchen well stocked with utensils, pots, pans & best of all a dishwasher. The nearby supermarkets had everything we needed.

There's lots to see and do in Lanzarote and we found it a fascinating and pretty island. We hired a car & drove north to the Timanfaya National Park to see the volcanoes. We rode camels, went to the Cuevas Verdes volcanic underground caves and the Jardin de Cactus.

I have no hesitation in recommending Gary's holiday home and this island as a holiday destination.

GREAT LOCATION, GREAT VALUE.

I stayed here with my son (7) and hubby this Easter break for 7 days, and we had a fabulous holiday. The accommodation is just as described, and was spotless.The location is great, and our 7 year old happily walked along the promenade to the marina, or further to Playa Dorada at least twice each day, and back. It's easy for almost everyone. It is a vey quiet complex, and not the place for marauding crowds. It's very clean and well looked after, and there are rules that one is expected to follow regarding noise etc, which help to keep the place as it is. Dealing with the owner was an absolute doddle, so please don't worry about booking direct. Overall, Great!!

BRILLIANT PLACE TO CHILL OUT

What a great place to stay. The apartment is very well kept in a very clean block of similar properties. It benefits from being sheltered on the many windy days we had and even in March it was warm sitting out on the balcony and relaxing. The local area is very quiet and clean.

It took us about 10 minutes to wander down to the local marina where you can find some really high quality places to eat and/or just have a snack and relax.

We ate in different places each night and on every occasion had a great night. The meal in the tapas bar on the edge of the marina looking over to Playa Blanca was great just for the view.

Another 10 minute walk and you reach a very attractive golden beach - always worth stopping for a beer before walking on into Playa Blanca itself. The sea here in March was warm and benefits from a reasonable degree of shelter. In fairness if we had not been going to swim each day I doubt we would have made the walk to Playa Blanca as the apartment and Marina area offer an ideal place to relax.

I hired a good quality bike from the local Playa Blanca store and enjoyed riding on the island although the wind at times could be described as exceptionally strong.

Overall one of the best areas we've stayed in as part of a spring break, great apartment and great facilities.

JUST FANTASTIC!

My friend and I stayed here and just loved it - the apartment is spotless clean, fully equipped and beautifully presented. Gary was very helpful before we arrived and answered all our questions. Angela picked us up and that was great as she told us first hand where to shop, eat, drink, visit etc., etc - even the neighbours were lovely and friendly, they came to our aid when we could not work the telly!

The quiet, safe complex was first class, thoroughly cleaned every morning - we enjoyed just lazing about reading our books and having a little swim! We loved the market and visited it on the Wednesday and the Saturday as it was only a 10 minute walk away at the Marina. Enjoyed lots of the local shops and restaurants. After a visit to the local supermarket, a couple of nights we just stayed in and prepared a meal - every piece of equipment you would want is in the kitchen.

Our first trip to Lanzarote but it certainly won't be our last!! Thank you!

IDYLLIC HOLIDAY

Just returned home after spending 10 days at this beautiful house. From start to finish the holiday experience was wonderful. It is always daunting booking holidays independently through the internet, however, we need not have worried at all.
I had a response to my initial e-mail from Gary within 20 minutes of enquiring, and he explained everything to me, chatting about the house and area and within 40 minutes I had an e-mail with further pictures and all sorts of other useful information. Service second to none! That was the decider for us and within 3-4 days we had booked flights and confirmed our holiday.

On arrival Gary had recommended someone for transfers as we decided not to hire a car and he (Eddie) was great, helping us find our bearings and giving advice on where to go etc.

The house is fabulous, spacious, clean, well equipped and really like home from home. TV, DVD's, books, and the all important washing machine which meant that we could travel light and save extra baggage costs. Cooking facilities are excellent, so if you don't want to eat out, everything you need is there with the nearest supermarket a 5 minute walk away providing all the essentials.
Gary has provided comprehensive information that answers all your questions, and the neighbours are very friendly and able to offer any advice, so it is easy to settle in quickly and get on with enjoying your holiday.

As we didn't have a car, we didn't go too far afield, but we had plenty to occupy us in the local vicinity. Within 10 minutes, access to a number of very good restaurants in the Marina Rubicon, a further 10 minutes walk on and a great beach, and by 25-30 minutes we were in the centre of Playa Blanca which has a plethora of restaurants and general activity to keep you occupied. The walk is very easy, with stunning coastline views and we found it was a welcome calorie burner after too many delicious tapas at Tipico Espanyol in Playa Blanca! Also walked the other way to Papagayo beach - stunning natural park area.

We stayed in April and the first few days the sun was a little shy, days were chilly and cloudy, definitely needed cardigans in the evening. But when the sun finally got his hat on and came out to play, it was HOT, so make sure you take your sun tan lotion. All in all we had a fantastic holiday, the only downside is knowing that now someone else is enjoying it instead of us. So until next time, (here's hoping) Hasta luego and muchas gracias :-)

SUPERB APARTMENT IN PLAYA BLANCA

Excellent holiday in a fantastic apartment all made even better by the service provided by Gary before and during the holiday.
Location is great although a little way from Playa Blanca it is however a very nice and scenic 30 min walk with the Marina about a third of the way there as an excellent alternative place for bars and restaurants. If you like Indian food a new place called Fazz's in the Rubimar shopping centre is brilliant, superb food, very nice decor and ambiance at very reasonable prices. Most other places to eat vary in quality and price from good to very good and plenty of them. The pool area was very clean and tidy. Papagayo had a few restaurants and plenty of shops plus a supermarket close to the apartment. We used a contact of Gary's as a taxi back to the airport which worked out about 15 euros cheaper on way back compared with the airport taxi on the way to Playa Blanca so ask him for details

Relaxed Playa Blanca lies to the south of the island and is reputed to be the sunniest resort and best sheltered from the wind. The Iris complex is a stones throw from the cliff top promenade, which has outstanding views to Fuerteventura. In one direction the promenade takes you to the recently built Colorado area with the island's protected Papagayo beaches a short walk beyond. In the other direction a 10 minute stroll will bring you to the Marina Rubicon with it’s designer shops and restaurants. The golden sands of Dorada beach is a further 10 minutes walk with Playa Blanca centre and sea view restaurants a short stroll on. Car hire whilst not essential is very cheap at around £80/week via the internet (picked up from the airport). Alternatively a taxi from the nearby taxi rank to Playa Blanca centre will cost only 3 euros with airport runs approximately 30 euros. Sight seeing coach trips are available locally.

Golf: The nearby Hisperia Dorada Hotel has a very good pitch and put facility.

Full 18 hole courses can be found at nearby Puerto Del Carmen and Costa Teguise.

A course is to be built in Playa Banca in the near future.

The 40 minute ferry that can be taken from Playa Blanca to Fuerteventura gives access to the many courses on Fuerteventura.
