INCREDIBLY PEACEFUL SETTING

We found the 'little house' without any problems by following the owners directions. Our first impressions were 'wow'.
The setting, within the owners garden, was wonderful. Landscaped gardens, pine trees, all surrounded by forest and farmland, and yet, only a five minute walk from Hardelot Chateau, and a short drive from the village centre.
The accommodation, on first impressions, was lovely. Very light and airy with lovely old wooden furniture.
We did find however, that the accommodation could have been cleaner.
The main area was fine, and we didn't mind too much, the cobwebs around some of the beams, nor the marks around the light switches. What we didn't think was very impressive were the clothes that had been left in the wardrobe drawer, along with Christmas decorations!!
We also felt that there was a mild smokey smell on the bed linen and pillows despite the property being 'no smoking'.
The kitchen had plenty of utensils, pots and pans etc., and a coffee maker (no kettle), but they all just seemed to have been thrown into the drawers and cupboards without much thought. We also found that most of the items needed a wash, including the switch above the cooker that felt very sticky to the touch. Yuk!
We were disappointed that there was no wifi/internet availability even though the advert said there was. And, although satellite TV was listed we couldn't get any channels in English.
We had the use of the garden to the rear of the accommodation, and the immediate area surrounding the house which was lovely, even if the weather wasn't very kind to us so that we could make more use of it.
The owners have a couple of pets, a dog and a cat, both of whom came to visit most days which was nice, even if the deposits left on the lawn were not!!
As I mentioned earlier in this review, the accommodation is within the owners garden, but we did not find this to be a problem as we only saw the owner once, and that was when we arrived and were given a key.
We felt it might have been nice if we'd been left a little welcome pack, bread and milk etc. as we had read that a lot of owners do, and we also felt that it would have been nice to have been asked if everything was ok.
It may appear that we have been harsh in our review but for us, the cleanliness in the kitchen was an issue.
That said, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return and recommend the property.
