The salt flats of San Pedro del Pinator are the most important wetlands of the whole region. They have been declared a regional park since 1985. At the end of each summer the salt flats house flocks of flamingos and other migrating birds which stopover on their way between Europe and Africa.
Los Alcazares - Soft sand, warm waters and great places to eat make Los Alcazares a place well worth a visit. A beautiful new promenade fronts this pretty seaside town, known for its Roman thermal baths.
Calblanque - National Park Calblanque beach is not so easy to access, but definitely worth the effort. Travel down a bumpy and dusty track, and you eventually arrive at the beach. There are no facilities here, so take plenty to drink and a picnic. The huge golden beach is in a sheltered bay and makes a brilliant destination for a day by the sea.
Daily street markets at all local towns.
You can also visit the cities of Murcia, Cartagena, Alicante and Torrevieja.
