This spacious, garden apartment with separate entrance is situated high on the hill in the Atlantic suburb of Green Point. The extensive open-plan kitchen and living area lead through sliding doors onto a shady patio, and thence into a large garden with an 8m x 5m swimming pool. Wooden floors in the bedrooms, lounge and dining room lend a feeling of warmth throughout. The double bedroom, which has a bathroom en suite, has direct access down steps into the garden. Both bedrooms are light and airy and look onto the garden, and are decorated in fresh whites, blues and greens. The bed-sitting room, which overlooks the pool, contains a sleeper couch which converts to a comfortable double bed. This room easily converts to a self-contained bedroom.

The Cape Town suburb of Green Point is bounded on one side by the chilly Atlantic Ocean, and on the other, by Lions Head, a mountain which, as its name indicates, is shaped very much like a reclining lion. Cape Town itself is a cosmopolitan city of about 3 million inhabitants, nestling in the embrace of Table Mountain, Devils Peak and Lions Head, and surrounded by many places of great natural beauty. It is a city with something to offer everyone of all ages - from strolls by the sea to rock climbing, scenic drives to paragliding. The Cape Winelands are just 30 minutes away.

The Victoria and Alfred Waterfront: Cape Town's Victoria and Alfred Waterfront and Shopping Centre are within 20 minutes walk or 5 minutes drive. One can take the ferry to Robben Island from the Nelson Mandela Gateway which is situated at the Waterfront, or go on chartered cruises in the bay or helicopter flights over the Cape Peninsula. The Red Shed and the Blue Shed are wonderful places to view and to buy goods made by local craftspeople. There are also many restaurants, where visitors will find almost anything they fancy. Cape Town is well known for its great seafood.

Beautiful, quiet location but very close to Cape Town City Centre. Easily walkable for those who like to walk it also has close, walkable, access to Green Point where there are shops and nice eateries not to mention the hugely popular Waterfront and, at some point in the nearish future, the Olympic Stadium.
The owners are charming and helpful as as available as you eould wish them to be, living in well-insulated, fully self-contained upstairs accommodation.
The appartment itself is beautifully equipped and furnished, comfortable and with a lovely, secluded garden with its own swimming pool.
If you are luky and you like creatures of the feathery kind, you may make a friend of the divine "Bean", the owner's special parrot.

Myself and 3 friends stayed here for 2 weeks during October 2009 and have nothing but praise for the quality of the accommodation. Its located in a quiet residential area but is 20 mins walk from the Victoria and Albert Waterfront and Long Street area. Supermarkets and restaraunts are a short walk away too.

The apartment itself was perfect. The kitchen has everything you need, fridge, oven, microwave etc. Has one main bathroom and a bedroom with an en suite bathroom. also has a TV and DVD player and wifi internet connection. Everything was in great condition, kept very clean, towels changed on a regular basis. The pool and the garden area was very private and provided hours of fun.

I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this apartment to anyone. If we returned to Cape Town, this is where we would choose to stay.

One last word for the owner...She was brilliant, from the bottles of wine that were waiting for us on our arrival, but for everything else that she did for us during our stay.... Thanks Shirley

A great place in a great city

We stayed at Glenthorn for 2 weeks and found it to be perfect for us (family with 2 small kids). The apartment is large and has all the comforts of home. There is a garage for a rental car (recommended to see all of Cape Town). We believe the owners go the extra mile to make sure you have everything you need. The location is ideal, close to the centre and the V&A.
Cape Town has a lot to offer and staying at Glenthorn made us feel even more at home in South Africa

Nice stay - Blenty of room ...

The description ot the apartment was mostly accurate. We didn´t realize that it was downstairs of the owners apartment but it didn´t disturb. The property was very clean, owners were very frienly, everything went as their promise. You don't need a car. You can walk to Waterfront or downtown in 10 to 15 minutes. You can find several restaurants from Waterfront. Nice and safe place and you don´t need a safe. We will recommend this apartment to any people who act like adults.

Fabulous

We stayed here in Feb 2007. The apartment was wonderful as was the pool. The family were very welcoming and helpful. It is a great location. I would highly recommend this property and will definatley stay here again the next time we are in Cape Town.
