Hello and thank you for taking the time to look at my listing! I am a career military officer originally from Austin, Texas finishing my last few years of military service in the DC area. I hope you enjoy your time visiting our nation's capital, and if there is anything I can do to assist, please let me know!
David Cooper purchased this townhome in 2012
Historic Capitol Hill is truly a downtown suburb that offers all the excitement of the city yet retains a safe and small neighborhood feel. The residents here are a tight-knit group comprised mostly of families who possess a strong sense of community. Nestled within the long rows of neighborhood homes you will find pockets of excitement ranging from a multitude of eating establishments to DC's only remaining original public produce market, known as Eastern Market. And of course it's extremely close proximity to the Capitol and various Smithsonian museums puts you literally at the doorstep of our nation's history. It is an absolutely wonderful location for both residents and visitors alike!
No expense was spared in the complete refurbishment of this house. You will be staying in a historic home complete with modern amenities--1880's on the outside and 2010's on the inside! Location-wise everything you need (restaurants, groceries, shopping, Metro) and everything you want to see (Capitol, Library of Congress, National Mall, Eastern Market, Barracks Row, Smithsonian museums) are just a few blocks away and within easy walking distance. Live amongst the locals and truly feel at home during your visit!
Place is beautiful in an incredible location. The wifi does not seem to cover the bedrooms very well. When this issue is corrected I'll give this place five Stars because aside from the wifi this place is perfect. Highly recommend staying here.
We were very pleased when we first saw our property. It was new, clean and attractive. We found out in the evening just how noisy our upstairs neighbors were. We were in a lower level apartment and heard every step and flush from the property above us. Perhaps rugs or something to absorb these noises would make the lower level more enjoyable.
We loved the part of town where this property was located. We walked everywhere and never needed a car or even public transportation. Great restaurants nearby and, of course, museums and other attractions.
Despite the noise at night I would still recommend this well located beautiful property.
I am always skeptical at renting through VRBO or Home Away so I always purchase the extra coverage.....it wasn't needed on this home. Beautiful! Plus's: 1. Centrally located between two Metro train stations (felt like Eastern Market was closest). Metro bus stop in front of home 2. In the middle of amazing eating places across street or very short walks. 3. nice park across the street 4. even met David, nicest man ever! 5. stayed in basement portion of home, newly renovated and beautiful! 6. beds VERY comfortable, hard wood floors, room darkening curtains in "master". 7. Within walking distance from Capital. (we are from Houston and don't walk and it was easy for us). NEGATIVES: (easy fixes since this is a newly renovated property) 1. no dresser or storage for folded clothing, personals, etc. in master (there is a closet, maybe add a small dresser somewhere) 2. no shelving or storage in bathrooms for makeup, deodorant, etc. The toilet seat cover was our only place to put things in bathroom when getting ready. 3. Heard the people above us moving chairs and walking (just putting down rugs or pads on bottom of chairs would probably fix. May want to do that anyway so the beautiful floors aren't ruined). We WILL be back! No doubt. Just reserve this home with confidence and enjoy Washington DC at its best and forget about pricey hotel rooms with no room to move around, rent this property.
This was our first trip to DC and I could not have found a better location to stay. Everything was exactly as described, even the pictures of the unit. We were in walking distance to alot of attractions, eateries, bars, etc. It was recommended to eat at "We The Pizza" by friends so I was very excited to see it was less than half a block from our unit. We also used the Metro which was nearby to save us some footing to the various museums. We felt very safe in the unit and surrounding area. I would definitly like to stay again and have been raving about this unit to all of our friends. My two grown children were with me and were impressed very much as to our unit and location. They are telling their friends as well.
Thank you again for the great accommodations!
very nice and comfortable apartment. Excellent location!! would stay here again
My husband and I recently had a wonderful five-day vacation in DC touring the city and visiting with family. We are in our seventies and found the garden unit perfect for our needs as well as our daughter and son-in-law and young granddaughter. Our accommodations were very clean and comfortable as well as convenient to local shops, stores and restaurants. We were within walking distance to many federal buildings including the Capitol. When we ventured further, we had a short walk to the Eastern Market Metro Station, and we traveled the city with ease. It was wonderful to see all of the museums, monuments and memorials -- and then return "home" to relax. Our living/dining area was a great gathering spot before and after our tours. We enjoyed eating at home, but also found some great restaurants on 8th Street. All in all, it was a wonderful vacation in a great home away from home.
