Hello and thank you for taking the time to look at my listing! I am a career military officer originally from Austin, Texas finishing my last few years of military service in the DC area. I hope you enjoy your time visiting our nation's capital, and if there is anything I can do to assist, please let me know!
David Cooper purchased this townhome in 2012
Historic Capitol Hill is truly a downtown suburb that offers all the excitement of the city yet retains a safe and small neighborhood feel. The residents here are a tight-knit group comprised mostly of families who possess a strong sense of community. Nestled within the long rows of neighborhood homes you will find pockets of excitement ranging from a multitude of eating establishments to DC's only remaining original public produce market, known as Eastern Market. And of course it's extremely close proximity to the Capitol and various Smithsonian museums puts you literally at the doorstep of our nation's history. It is an absolutely wonderful location for both residents and visitors alike!
No expense was spared in the complete refurbishment of this house. You will be staying in a historic home complete with modern amenities--1880's on the outside and 2010's on the inside! Location-wise everything you need (restaurants, groceries, shopping, Metro) and everything you want to see (Capitol, Library of Congress, National Mall, Eastern Market, Barracks Row, Smithsonian museums) are just a few blocks away and within easy walking distance. Live amongst the locals and truly feel at home during your visit!
Our group was four elderly ladies. The townhouse was perfect, decorated beautifully, we were able to catch the metro close by for our sightseeing tours. The owner was so helpful to this computer illiterate person in navigating the VRBO site for needed info.
Perfect spot to see DC. Close to many essential things, restaurants, grocery, metro, Capitol. Beautiful condo, modern, safe community.
Our family absolutely loved our time in DC last month--in large part because of our wonderful accommodations at this home. This lovely townhome is beautifully appointed with modern and updated amenities. It is cozy, comfortable, and safe---and we could not have asked for a better experience. It is located close to everything one might need--train stations, bus stops, groceries, restaurants, etc. If you are headed to DC, definitely stay here!!
I traveled with my 11 year old twins for a mom/younger kid vacation to visit DC, museums and the Capitol and rented unit #4. As others mentioned, it is so well appointed!! Everything nicely done from bed linens, towels and kitchen essentials. My daughter had the middle room, my son slept on the pull-out sofa bed and I slept in the back bedroom. The unit accommodated us perfectly and having the washer and dryer and full kitchen was fantastic!! We took cabs, the subway and walked. I thought the location was great -- it is more residential and did not feel touristy. We got in late on Sunday evening and since the nearby grocery stores were closed, we took Uber to Whole Foods (about 2.5 miles) for groceries and took a cab back to the VRBO. Monday morning we walked to Capitol building for a fantastic tour. During our 3 day stay, we did a fun and educational night-time tour of the monuments, visited Natural History Museum, ice skated in the sculpture gardens, Air & Space Museum, the Holocaust Museum and the Botanical Gardens. We made a trip to Georgetown to indulge at DC Cupcakes. We ate at Founding Farmers restaurant at 1924 Pennsylvania twice because it was so good! You need to make reservations. We had 3 full days in DC and I felt we needed one more.
Back to the VRBO, I do recommend it and would stay there again. The front door needs a shade to provide privacy for the person sleeping on the sofa bed. As others also mentioned, you do get residual noise (walking and plumbing) from the renters above. The plumbing noise is most noticeable in the middle bedroom. However, it did not bother us. We were gone from morning to night and I expected it based on other reviews. The rental has everything you could need. It was a delight.
Thank you, David, for sharing your lovely townhouse with our family when we stayed in DC last weekend. The townhouse is beautifully put together and very well appointed. Since the weather in DC was unusually cold we were grateful that we could step out the front door and walk to get groceries or something to eat at one of the nearby restaurants. The Eastern Market is close by and worth a visit .
Place is beautiful in an incredible location. The wifi does not seem to cover the bedrooms very well. When this issue is corrected I'll give this place five Stars because aside from the wifi this place is perfect. Highly recommend staying here.
