Just a few minutes drive is Beaulieu-les-Loches, which has its own bar, restaurants and local amenities and is just 1km from the centre of Loches. Its parish church is built into the ruins of the Abbaye de la Trinite, a Benedictine abbey church built to house the bones of Foulque Nerra, the dreaded count of Anjou who also established the keep at Loches. A twelfth century belfry still towers over the ruins of the Romanesque nave, which was damaged by fire in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. The medieval town of Loches is 10 minutes drive and has a lively, twice weekly market featuring local produce and wines. Its walled citadel is by far the most impressive of the Loire valley fortresses. A short walk from the property will take you into a nearby forest where you can walk for as long as you like. You will have passed the local restaurant on your way to the forest area so a quick bite to eat and drink after your walk knowing that Chez Sara is just around the corner.
