Samiko Villa Rental Photos and Description

Secluded, 2 bedroom villa with air-conditioning and stunning views

Newly renovated self-catering villa surrounded by olive trees, set in the foothill of the Lapithas Mountains, overlooking the sea. This is a beautifully furnished traditional farmhouse, offering ideal rural holidays for families, romantic breaks or for nature lovers. The air-conditioned, open-plan sitting-room/ kitchen makes up fully half the house (a generous 100 m² in total) with 2 double bedrooms and bathroom (complete with bath and shower). The kitchen is equipped with electric fan oven, dishwasher and washing machine. A wide veranda runs the entire length of the house, giving plenty of sun as well as shade. The garden completely surrounds the house, and is fully maintained for you. The house is set in a working olive farm of 400 trees, with neighboring olive-groves stretching for kilometres in either direction. We are approx. 1000 m from the village of Kato Samiko, 3000 m from the beach, and mountain walks start at the front door, with hundreds of km of forest tracks.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have had a superb holiday here at The Olive Farm, It has been very relaxing and Charles, Ellie, and especially Lexi have been so friendly and helpful - thank you so much!We have eaten very well hereour favourite places have been: Ta Pefka, Doufas, and the taverna on the beach at Lakovatos - all increadibly well-priced and the owner of Ta Pefka was particullarly, was so friendly. We also had a very good lunch at Sto Kioupi in Dimitsana in the mountains. The local beach is very good as is the beach at Kakovatos. The supermarket and bakery are good in Zacharo. All in all, a great week!

Beautiful place to relax and enjoy Greece

  • 5 of 5

One always hope to have a happy and relaxing vacation, but it is rare to find so much more than you hoped for. The house has everything you need, the kitchen is complete so you can make 'real' meals. Finding some basic foods in the fridge and homemade bread upon arrival was a wonderful welcome in itself. The place is very clean and kept up, and we felt very comfortable, like a home away from home. The view of the sea as well as the beautiful flowerbed in front of the terrace provide the perfect atmosphere for relaxing and the beach is just minutes away by car.

If you like animals it is worth going up to the farm and saying hello to the pigs who are so silly and entertaining, and the dogs who are so friendly and happy.

You can enjoy solitude if you want, but welcoming smiles await anyone that ventures up to the farm for a chat or to ask a question. Charles and Eleanor and Lexi are every bit as interesting and wonderful as the place they have made for others to vacation in. We are already looking forward to returning!

Perfect spot for a family holiday in Greece.

  • 5 of 5

“Perfect spot for a relaxing family vacation.”

We spent one perfect week in June with our three children at the Olive Farm. The farm itself is gorgeous - the house sits nestled in a grove of olive trees, with a drive that passes orange and lemon trees dripping ripe fruit onto the ground. The house has a gorgeous garden surrounding the veranda, where we would eat and relax and enjoy the peace and quiet and fresh air of the farm, as well as the lovely view of the sea.

The house itself is extremely comfortable, in excellent condition, and is extremely well equipped for a rental property. We ate amazing fresh produce, swam in the ocean, hiked behind the house to the ancient acropolis, drove to lovely mountain villages, hiked in a gorge, visited ancient olympia and the Temple of Apollo.... and of course, we relaxed. The house is great for families, but is also a perfect for a secluded romantic getaway.

Our three young children ansolutely adored the farm - they wandered around the olive groves for hours, played with Charles and Ellie's charming daughter Lexie (who also acted as our very knowledgable guide to the acropolis!) and loved going over and checking out the animals on Charle's and Ellie's adjacent farm. We went to the beach, and they also really enjoyed visiting the historical sites. The guest book in the house was full of visitors who return every year, which attests to how great the Olive Farm is.

The area is off the beaten track, which adds to the charm of the place. We would highly recommend the Olive Farm to anyone looking to rent in Greece, and hope to return ourselves for a repeat visit.

Beautiful house, grounds and sunsets

  • 5 of 5

We traveled from California to stay here and it was a great choice. Things we enjoyed included:

1. Pre-trip Q&A info from the hosts via email. This made for a great and smooth arrival day.

2. The house and surrounding grounds were beautiful and “way nicer than the website photos.”

3. The main room, with the kitchen, dining area and couches was where everyone wanted to gather, and did. Very complete kitchen.

4. The views and sunsets over the ocean.

5. The ‘green binder’ with extensive info on the area and activities.

6. Proximity to Ancient Olympia

7. An overnight excursion to Zakynthos island

8. The loop walk around the valley

9. Abundant shelf, closet, drawer and hanger space in the master bedroom

10. Overall rural beauty

August stay 2012 - had a great time

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful spacious house, very comfortable and well equipped (including air con in the living / dining / kitchen area, and ceiling fans in the other rooms - very welcome in mid-August!). Set in the midst of a beautiful olive garden, with some plum and citrus trees. There are some good beaches within 5-10 min drive (both "organised" and "wild"), and Ancient Olympia is only 30 mins away. The area has some pleasant if simple restaurants nearby, which the owners recommended to us (do not miss the fish taverna set in a banana tree grove by the lake).

Nothing was too much trouble for the owners; they even fetched our delayed baggage from the airport after Ryanair had initially lost it. This certainly added to a relaxing stay. On arrival we found some nice produce from the farm, including some of the best olive oil we've ever tasted and a large bottle of local plonk. After a long day of travelling / filing lost baggage forms etc, that was extremely welcome!

An word of warning. The "road" up to the farm is very steep, potholed and difficult to find, so try to arrive for the first time during daylight hours and ask Charlie to pick you up at the petrol station. Having made the trip once, though, it's no problem - in first gear even our Nissan Micra managed OK.

We highly recommend this property and hope to repeat our stay in future.

Great House / Great Beaches

  • 5 of 5

If you need a quite house with an amazing sunset with view on the sea, that's the house you need !

Everything is great: the kitchen is fully equipped, there is A.C in the leaving room (which is amazing from 1:00 to 4:00!),and the beds of the two bedrooms are good.

You spend most of your time in the terrasse, which is lovely organized : a big table, "chaise longues", and all the possible games for children (chess, dames, cards, etc...) ; Perfect to spend hours reading with the sound of the crickets.

Around the house, plenty of things to see: mountains, river, amazing beaches (with turtles !), Kefalonia (3 hours trip), monastery in the mountains etc...

Good choice for us !

Decidedly un-touristy, the area around Kato Samiko is one of the best-kept secrets of the Peloponnesus. The beach is vast, stretching out over 100 km in an unbroken curve of golden sand, backed by sand dunes and pine forest, without any major developments or resorts-you can normally find your own private stretch of beach without difficulty. Ancient sites include Olympia (25 km), The Temple at Vassai (30 km), the hot springs and spa at Kaiafas (3 km), as well as a wealth of smaller archaeological sites including our own Acropolis, just 2 km away. Shop at local markets in Zacharo (12 km) or Krestena (8 km), or the city of Pyrgos (25 km). Mountain walks and superb cycling and mountain-biking routes abound, and island-hopping day-trips to Zakinthos or Kefalonia from Kylini (50 km) for those who wish to see more than just the Peloponnesus. Virtually all the main archaeological sites of Greece are reachable by car, with the new bridge across the Gulf of Corinth making even Delphi accessible.
