Centrally located in the heart of the old Nice, just a stone's throw from the Beach, the Opera House and the flower market, this refurbished apartment offers a good level of comfort in a great location. With a fully equipped kitchen, oak parquet floors, and fitted wardrobes it is the ideal holiday location.
You'll find an abundance of good cafe's and restaurants up and down the pedestrian streets of the old quarter to tempt you with local specialties. The shopping is excellent, from small specialized boutiques selling local products to many of the designer label stores.
Getting around: Busses- The TAM busses are operated by the Conseil General des Alpes Maritimes and now charge a flat 1.50euro per person, per trip. ie Every time you get on the bus, you pay 1. 50 euro regardless of how far you are going. The busses are clean, usually on time, and air conditioned.
Trains- The TER trains are the ones that serve the coastal towns, they are regular and clean. A ticket Nice to Monaco return will set you back 6 euro, but if you fancy spending the day exploring several towns then you are best to go for the Carte Isabelle which allows you on and off the train from Frejus to Vintimiglia as many times as you like in one day, and costs 12 euro, unfortunately it is only available in the summer month July to September.
If train journeys is what you enjoy then you might want to consider the Chemin de Fer de Provence which offers a very scenic train through the lower Alpes from Nice to Dignes, clinging to the hill sides as it meanders its way across valleys and on up into the hills.
Tram- The tram is popular, and is therefore usually crowded, Tickets can be bought at the stops, from the booths on the platforms
Pricing is as follows;
1 trip ticket = 1 .50euro
10 trip ticket = 10 euro
1 day pass = 4 euro
7 day pass = 15 euro
Cyclotour- You will see, dotted around Nice, strange tricycles with a covered back seat. If you are worn out from to much walking and/or shopping, use them. They are usually driven by students who will take you wherever you want for 1euro/km, even on a tour of Nice.
Parking- For those of you who come by car, parking Saleya (under cours Saleya) do passes for the duration of your stay . As a guide they charge 50euro for a three day pass and 8 euro a day thereafter, which allows you in and out as often as you like. It is worth remembering that if it is your birthday they will offer you your birthday parking for free, and they have bicycles that they will lend free to car park users. You can get information on all this on site in the car park.
We were in Opera for two week in April and had the Great holiday.
We have visited in Nice many times and this apartment was best of all.
Why ? The first, Rosemary helps us all things kindly and quickly, example we have lost mobile phone and she helps us found it after trip !
The situation was best of all that we thought and apartment was very comfortable and situated in the centre of the old town.
We have rent a car and Sulzer parking place was very close this house. The old town has beginning here and all activities are so close.
Don't afraid the fifth floor and many stairs, if You legs working. We are couple and about 50 year and its so easy.
Windows was east side and it is better in Summer.
Some tips for You:
* Rent car and drive to mountain ( than Col de Turini and route of Napoleon)
* Book the table Chez Palmyre
* Walk around old town and visit Garibaldi Plaza and eat there. Remember, that there are market place too in the weekend morning
* You have to visit Opera of Nice.
Rosemary, Thanks so much your kindly helps ! We will back...
We stayed in Opera for a week in April and had a wonderful time. The apartment was beautiful and perfectly situated in the centre of the old town, as well as being clean, tidy and equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The only minor negatives are ones that have been mentioned in previous reviews – namely, the five flights of stairs and the noise at night – however neither of these would stop us from staying again. The location was brilliant – in the heart of the old town, near the coast, and a 2 minute walk away from the fruit and veg market. The leaflets and information provided in the flat were also very helpful. All in all, I would thoroughly recommend this apartment.
Excellent location. Apartment very clean on arrival. Super facilities there too. Very bright & airy. Highly recommended.
Myself and my husband have just returned from Nice having spent 4 days in this apartment (12th - 16th June). Whilst the location is superb and the apartment pictures are exactly what the apartment looks like, there is no mention of the 10 flights of stairs which must be challenged to get access to the apartment and although this did not cause us personally much discomfort as we are in our early 40's and fit, it would not suit an elderly or disabled couple as there is no lift and we do think it should be mentioned.
I wanted to email you with enormous thank yous, because we had the most amazing holiday, and your apartment was just perfect for us. The location was fantastic- we did venture out to Monaco and Menton, however felt all we needed for a great time was right at our doorstep. Ko was ever so friendly, and please thank her from us, and apologise for my terrible French and manic hand movements! We most definately will recommend you to all our friends, and most probably will come back next year!
Thank you again for a lovely time.
With the beach as you back garden, and the cafés and restaurants of Cours Saleya as your terrace, you are in the heart of old Nice on a street that is quiet at night and a hive of activity by day. You have the Opera house as your neighbour and further along you have the daily flower market in Cours Saleya. Public transport is reliable and cheap (1.50 euro anywhere on the buses) and offers easy access other places to explore from Cannes to Monte Carlo.
Enjoy fresh croissants and coffee on the beach with breakfast at Opera Plage, or a night of dancing at the 'Bodeguita de la Havana'. There is an abundance of things to see and do, all within a short walk and if you do get walked off your feet then Nice's new tramway runs every ten minutes and will carry you home for 1.50 euro per trip.
Up to date information is provided in the apartment, so that you don't miss out on what is on in the area.
