GREAT RATES OFFERED ON SEPTEMBER & OCTOBER BREAKS. Traditional stone farmhouse and converted stone barn, just outside the walls of the perfectly preserved medieval castle of Larressingle. LE TILLEUL, named after the magnificent lime tree in the garden, sleeps up to 8. LE FIGUIER sleeps up to 6 people and offers an abundance of fresh figs for guests in late July. The cottages are located in one of the 'plus beaux villages de France' and each cottage is fully independent with its own large private garden and dining patio with barbecue. The centrally located salt-water swimming pool is for shared use. Groups booking both cottages will have exclusive use of the pool. Lovingly restored and updated with modern amenities, while respecting the traditional character. Exposed stone walls, and beamed ceiling beams throughout. Ancient stone fireplaces have been fitted with wood-burning stoves to take the chill off spring & autumn evenings.

Le Figuier, sleeps 5 people in 2 bedrooms. There are exposed stone walls and beamed ceilings throughout, as well as ceramic tiled floors softened with rugs. A spacious, airy attic bedroom studio has an extra-large wrought iron double bed and a single bed. The room has a high vaulted ceiling and there is a cosy sitting area with TV / DVD player, and wood burner stove set in ancient stone fireplace. Downstairs the cosy dining kitchen with gas cooker is fully equipped for up to 6 people. Also on the ground floor is the second bedroom with twin beds (can be bunk beds if preferred). From the kitchen is access to a huge shower-room / WC. A washing machine and large fridge/freezer are located in the adjoining garage. French windows on either side of the kitchen lead to sunny patio with superb brick-built BBQ & garden beyond, or to courtyard with swimming pool. Historic setting just outside the castle walls of the 13th century fortified village of Larressingle in the Gers. The cottages are quietly located, just out of sight of the castle, but with easy access to the bar/creperie within the castle walls, and a nearby restaurant. The Gascony region of south-west France is still relatively undiscovered by tourists, and so provides the chance to relax and enjoy something of the real France. The surrounding countryside is fields of sunflowers and Armagnac vines. Duck dishes, foie gras and prunes are the local specialities, washed down with Armagnac or the local aperitif 'Pousse Rapiere'! The bustling market town of Condom is only 5km away and offers all amenities and a range of restaurants. The area abounds with history with its medieval fortified villages at Fourcès, Montréal du Gers, La Romieu, l'Abbaye de Flaran, to name but a few. Colourful weekly market in Condom, as well as at nearby towns of Nérac, Eauze and Lectoure.

The spacious sitting area has 2 armchairs and a 3-seater sofa and is set around the stone fireplace. The single bed is arranged as a day bed in the living area. A glazed bookcase houses a range of fiction and local history books for guests' enjoyment, as well as a collection of DVD's and board games. The ground floor bedroom with twin beds, looks out onto the terrace. Patchwork quilts are provided for cooler evenings, and bed linen is provided.

We enjoyed a stay in le Figuier for a week in the middle of September - the gite was a very good size for the two of us. It is nicely kept and the caretaker was very friendly and helpful.

The village is charming, in fact the whole area is lovely and we did a lot of cycling - there are some cycle routes nearby which we found by accident and it's possible to cycle down the GR also.

The other gite was occupied by another couple, and we all got on very well, however I wouldn't want to have to share the space with a large family - it could get very crowded.

We also enjoyed the figs!

Our fantastic family stay in Le Figuier

We thought the gite was delightful and everything we had hoped for - a beautiful, quite magical location so close to the magnificent castle of Larressingle - a totally unspoilt part of the world.

The gite itself was a quiet, tranquil and cool haven. The pool was super and it worked out fine sharing with our neighbours. The gite was spotless on our arrival and the caretaker was professional, efficient and friendly. The gite was beautifully and tastefully appointed and a real pleasure to stay in. I'm sure none of us will ever forget going out late at night to admire the illuminated entrance to the castle against the most amazing starry night.

We went for some lovely walks and also canoeing at Beaucaire which we recommend - very relaxing and enjoyable.

The owner provided excellent customer service before we left. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property to a friend or relative.

Peace and quiet away from it all

We spent a lovely week in Le Figuier - the gite is comfortable and well equipped. There were 4 people in our party - all adults. The bedroom downstairs is designed for children really as there are bunk beds - which can be dismantled on request. The lounge/bedroom upstairs is very large with great views from the windows.
Being able to walk a few yards up to the Castle was fantastic and although we didn't try the Creperie itself it was always busy. We did however sample the local wines from the little tourist office - twice in fact as different people were in charge! and bought some as presents.
We visited Condom a few times and would recommend a visit to the Cathedral.
The swimming pool is very pleasant and well-maintained - we were lucky in that 2 adults were occupying Le Tilleul so there were no problems - could be different with a large family however.
The owner is very helpful and quick to respond to emails.
All in all a relaxing stay and most enjoyable.

This is a great "get away from it all" location. Villa comfortable, pool excellent (although could get crowded if both villas are let to their maximum). Enjoyed the food at the local Auberge in village while a drink in the grounds of the castle is a lovely experience. The Gers area of France was beautiful. We will return
