Great Volcano cabin

  • 5 of 5

Sue was a great host! Comfortable charming cabin in the rain forest.

Very well equipped and clean!

The town rolls up the streets early. Stop by the store in town before 7 pm. Great restaurant- Thai Thai

Cozy cottage in a perfect location

  • 5 of 5

My husband, brother and I stayed here for one night while we explored the Volcanoes National Park. The cottage was perfect for our stay, close to the town of Volcano and to the trails we wanted to hike. One of my favourite things was how peaceful and quiet the property is. It is literally right in the fern forest which was really neat. We enjoyed having our morning coffee out on the covered porch listening to the birds. The bed was very comfortable and the loft bed worked great too. Everything we needed was provided and even some fruit and breakfast items which was great.

If you're staying on the Kona side of the island I definitely recommend staying at least one night in Volcano as it's a really long drive otherwise. We dropped our bags off in the afternoon and went back to see the volcano at night which is not to be missed! The owner was great and very knowledgable about the area, things to do, restaurants, etc. I wish we would have stayed an extra night. This cottage is great value, we'll be back!

Nice cabin! Friendly hosts!

  • 5 of 5

I enjoyed my stay in the Fern Forest Cottage. The hosts were very friendly!

I'd have liked to have stayed longer.

It's a good location to view lava glow at night. I'd been to the park during the day, but going after dark is a different experience--one recommended!

The kitchen is set up nicely in the cottage and they have entertainment options should you need them

Nice Family Cabin

  • 5 of 5

I was impressed with the feeling of security, organization and cleanliness at the entrance to the property. There weren't a lot of reviews on Homeaway so I wasn't sure about booking, but it turns out they rent in other ways, too. The owner was very nice, and made sure we knew how to find them. The cabin looks as nice in person as on the website. It was a fun cabin adventure for our two tweens to bunk in a loft, and fit our family of four perfectly. We cooked in while watching a movie (note, the groceries are limited in town, and cooking supplies are provided but sparse - yet it was fun like camping), which allowed us to hike the volcano during the day, and go back for the glow at night. They were flexible enough to let us stay just one night since we were coming from the west side of the island. The price was perfect, and while the town is a little closer to the volcano, I enjoyed the private rainforest surroundings of the cabin. The drive to town and the volcano went quickly. I recommend the Cottage!

A Hidden Gem!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I booked this affordable cabin at the last minute (the morning of our stay), and the owner was amazingly quick with a response! We didn't arrive until the evening and only stayed one night, but we would come back in a heartbeat!

The property is about ten minutes out of town and feels quite remote, but the cabin is cozy, clean, and well stocked. There were even some treats and breakfast staples left for us. We loved it! The grounds are lush and beautiful; we really enjoyed walking around in the morning and looking at all the plants and trees.

After arriving and meeting our friendly host, we headed into town for dinner (the Thai Thai restaurant was excellent!) and to see the volcano's glow (take warm clothes!), then back for the night. Our stay was too short for such a sweet cabin! We will definitely be recommending this to our friends.

Beautiful Area, Wonderful Cabin, Great Stay

  • 5 of 5

This cabin exceeded my expectations. To begin with, I contacted the owner just one day prior to my arrival, and he responded back immediately with a confirmation and later with great directions. This cabin was very reasonably priced so I wasn't sure what we would find. Upon arrival we were delighted to see the cabin in such beautiful surroundings, truly a tropical paradise with ferns and an abundance of beautiful plants. The cabin is about 3 years old but looks brand new, is clean and well maintained. The interior is welcoming and cozy with wood siding and lots of windows for letting light in and viewing the foliage outdoors. There is a loft in the cabin which is very large if you need an extra sleeping area for a child or even several children. We found the cabin to be well stocked with shampoo, water, dishwashing soap etc. Additionally, the owner left some wonderful snacks for our enjoyment.

The owners live on property, and if you have the luxury of meeting them, you'll find them to be very welcoming and helpful, they even gave us a tour of the gardens and gave us a great education on the plants and surrounding area.

We truly enjoyed our stay, it was a wonderful cabin, just a few miles from the entrance to VNP.
