The villa is situated just outside Sorrento itself, away from the busy town but perfectly placed for trips to all attractions including the stunning Amalfi drive. Set back fom the main road in peaceful olive and lemon groves with its own safe parking. Villa makes a perfect retreat for those who like to explore, to see the sights but like to relax away from the centre after a busy day. The Villa has a large terrace and its own pizza oven and inside is fully equipped for self catering. There is a little local bus service and a bar within walking distance. Also the Villa has its own private and secure parking which is a huge advantage for those who have a car, or intend to hire one whilst visiting. The Villa is being offered at a discount price this summer and offers a calm relaxing holiday whilst being only a short distance from Sorrento itself.

The Villa is situated in a small village called Priora. This is only fifteen minutes from the Sorrento, which is the nearest town. From Sorrento the public transport system is very good making excursions to Naples, Capri, Ischea, Positano, Amalfi drive, Pompeii and Vesuvius very very simple. The road leading to the villa winds on further giving breathtaking views especially at the narrowest point where one can see both the gulf of Naples and the Gulf of Sorrento at the same time.The villa is set back from the road very peaceful private and secure.It has the added bonus of safe and private parking.The villa is perfectly situated for trips to Positano and the Amalfi coast calm and cool and yet within only fifteen minutes by car fro Sorrento.There are also little local bars and also a little local bus service,however coming by car or hiring a car expands the possibilities of exploring in comfort.The villa offers a home from home away from the bustle and yet close to all the famous spots.

  • The hours of entry to the villa are office hours between 10.30 am and 6.00pm daily. Within these hours there is always someone to greet you, show the villa and give you the keys. Outside of these hours we have to employ a member of staff to be there for you when you arrive, and for this there is a small surcharge of Euro 25.00 and.in the event of really late flights arrivals after 11.00pm we charge Euro 50.00. Thank you.

  • the villa is simply but comfortably furnished, the bedroom one contains a good sized double bed, and the other two singles. There are sofa beds in the large living area. Most people spend their time outside on the terrace in the warm summer months where you can barbeque and while away the balmy summer evenings with a bottle of excellent local wine. The villa has its own safe parking which is really useful for those who want to take off each morning to explore the amazing countryside and views.The villa grounds are safe and enclosed so that children can play without danger. There is a little local shop for emergencies but one can stock up at Conad,a little local supermarket on the way up to Priora.

Notes: Sofa beds can sleep two children or one adult comfortably the villa has two bedrooms one with a good sized double bed and the other with two singles....the sofa bed is in the large living area. The villa is simply furnished and comfortable .....in the summer months most folk spend most of their time out on the terrace where one can barbeque and while away the balmy evenings with a bottle of excellent local wine. The grounds of the villa are enclosed and therefore safe for children to play. There is difficulty in finding a signal for your mobile from the villa but this is common to all the properties in and around the hills surrounding Sorrento.There is safe car parking which is nice to be able to go out with out any problem in your car and explore the lovely countryside and amazing views. However, there is a little local bus that can take you to Sorrento to avoid the parking problems there & if you are lucky the driver will be in his singing mode & you will get free entertainment!!

The villa is the perfect answer for those who like to be away from the bustle and yet near to it when they want to be!!!!! Sorrento is a busy, delightful and very typical Southern Italian Town and the perfect centre to the most stunning tourist attractions, so fifteen min from the villa lies all the buzz of the town, and one can retire to the peace of the villa in the evening.

The villa is very peaceful, safe and the perfect retreat from the busy nearby Sorrento.There are local buses but it is even nicer with a hired car as the location is perfect for so many excursions, and with its private parking makes a perfect base for exploring.

The title sums up our experience of Villa Priora. From the images on the website you get the impression of a clean, well maintained apartment. However, the reality is somewhat different. The internal images on the site are not all of this property - the bottom two do not relate to Villa Priora. The property is not well maintained. It could do with a lick of paint and new external furnishings. Inside is reasonable but again needs some maintenance. The kitchen utensils and crockery were dirty and old. We were a party of three and we just had enough crockery etc to keep us going. This apartment would not be suitable for 6 - 4 at a push. We did not see any cleaners during our week stay even though they were supposed to do at least one clean during the week. The owners were pleasant enough and helpful. However, they did not give us any instructions as to how to get to the apartment or collect the keys. I found some information on the internet which informed me that I needed to contact them when we arrived at Naples. This I tried to do but the phone number given did not work. We arrived at the villa with the aid of SatNav - it is not easy to find - and then waited for several hours. During this time we tried to contact all the people with the owners' surname in the phone book but with no luck. In the end an Italian family who were staying downstairs let us onto the property and helped us to contact the owner who eventually turned up with the key. Not the best way to start a holiday. We were seriously considering giving up and going to stay somewhere else. In the end we stayed and had a peaceful break. The immediate area is very quite and you need a car to get around. Driving is difficult and roads are very crowded in August when the Italians are also on holiday. The bar in Priora is small be very friendly and the supermarket is very rustic but provides for most basics and is well worth a visit. The area is very beautiful but we would not advise visiting in August as it is too crowded. We would not advise staying at Villa Priora until it has been cleaned up and updated. It was a shame that we were disappointed because the villa does have a lot of potential if only the owners were prepared to put in a little investment - it wouldn't take much. They also need to issue clear advanced instructions to clients along with a working phone number.

Quiet location with excellent views

Everything Flavia has said about this villa is true. What got me the most was the views from the roof over the Bay of Naples and of Mt Vesuvius in the distance, which were amazing. A regular privately run bus (€1 to town) goes from right outside the villa into Sorrento (last bus back to the villa is at approx 2130 and yes the driver does indeed sing!) but that is supplemented by public buses if you want to stay in Sorrento till late (you only have to walk a little way back to the villa then). Talking of a little walk, that is all you need to do if you wanted to spend the night in Priora as there is a wonderful American style bar come diner or a full 3-4 star restaurant just a 15-20 minute walk away (not that arduous in the balmy summer evenings), the later having the most breathtaking view of all of Vesuvius at night.

The villa is ideal for self catering as there is a small but well stocked "supermarket" within a 5 minute walk, with friendly staff if your Italian isn't up to speed, the local wine isn't bad either!

If you want to go further afield then all you have to do is get the bus into town and walk to the train station and for less than £30 you and four others can get to Vesuvius and back for the day. who needs a hire car when public transport is so cheap (just a shame the UK can't take a leaf out of their book!) and there are much safer than trying to drive on Italian roads! Also there is a bus that goes to the Amalfi coast, although I would recommend going on one of the many boat day-trips round there as you also get to swim in the Med off the Islands of Capri nearby and a stop over in Positano and a meal thrown in to boot.

Although Priora is not the throbbing hub of Sorrento it's very quiet and a very good location for a self catering holiday to Italy and the Bay of Naples area.

And last but not least you must pay Flavia a visit in his showroom, excellent merchandise. Oh by the way the restaurant in the road behind is not bad either (we went there twice and the pizzas are amazing!). Enjoy.
